I’m so excited to have our talented spring intern, Meg, on the blog today to share this sweet film with y’all! Take it away, Meg! -Lisa

Brought together by a shared passion for music, Kassie and Jeff sang their way around the world aboard cruise ships, sharing their talent with those around them. However, their greatest journey yet was a walk down the aisle on a sunny Sunday morning in Kansas City. A delightful outdoor ceremony followed by a delicious brunch (complete with biscuits and gravy!) helped the couple celebrate the start of their newest journey together. Our talented Blue Ribbon Vendor, Creative Films, beautifully captured these sweet moments for Kassie and Jeff so that they can always relive their big day…no matter where they are in the world!

How did y’all meet? Tell us your love story! Jeffrey and I have always shared a love for music. We first met at a show choir competition while we were still in high school. Jeff had this big, dreamy vocal solo and I–being a 14-year-old fan-girl–fell in love with him instantly. We went on to study music together at Missouri Southern State University, which led to a successful career performing together on cruise ships all over the world. Since the wedding, we have settled down in Sullivan, Illinois, where we co-direct and choreograph the nationally renowned Sullivan Singers show choir program. We’ve really come full circle!
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Our favorite detail of our wedding day was the string quartet from UMKC playing Beatles music! While working on the cruise ship, we would host tea time everyday at 4:00 P.M., where the quartet would play this incredible Beatles medley. We were so happy to incorporate a little bit of our “home away from home” into our big day.
What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? Our wedding was a little unconventional. The ceremony took place on a Sunday morning in Kansas City’s Loose Park, followed by a brunch reception at the historic Loose Mansion. I’d have to say that the food was the most Southern detail of our wedding! Jeffrey’s favorite was the pie! He isn’t much of a cake lover, so we opted for pies instead. We were lucky enough to sample all three varieties: mixed berry, apple, and chocolate. My favorite Southern food was the biscuits and gravy! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of my Papa and I sharing a big helping of biscuits and gravy. I loved being able to share my favorite comfort food with both of the most important men in my life on my wedding day. We both agree that the mimosa bar was also a big win! Can you really go wrong with champagne and pink lemonade?
