What comes to mind when you think about summer?
This time of year is abundant with some of our very best memories–running through sprinklers, spending long days at the lake, catching fireflies, and most of all, enjoying the company of family and friends. We love summer in the South, and know y’all do too! This year, we want to make the most of the season by enjoying many of the same things that color our best childhood summer memories—except this time, we’ll be sharing them with our beaus, and with all of you.
We have two goals for this summer: to soak in this season to the fullest, and to cultivate our relationships with the people we love–our beaus, our families, our friends, and our communities. As we huddled around a table at The Carolina Inn during our team retreat, throwing out ideas for making these things happen, we noticed a theme. Nearly every favorite thing about summer that we mentioned was connected to our childhoods.
Kristin remembered eating watermelon on the porch of her grandmother’s house. Emily remembered playing tag outside until dark. Nicole remembered splitting popsicles with her friends after school. As we shared these memories with one another, giggling and reminiscing, it dawned on us how much we wanted to revisit all of these activities. It’s been too long since we ran through sprinklers or bought sweet treats from the ice cream truck, and how much more fun would they be now, with our beaus in tow? That’s how we decided on our “Summer Love” theme for this summer, and we hope you’ll join us as we revisit childhood adventures, make new memories, and grow in love!
We have buckets of exciting things planned for the next three months, and we want you to be part of all of it! From summer date ideas and road trip tips to sunny inspiration for your wedding and behind the scenes fun with the SW gals, there are so many delightful things ahead. To get started, download our Southern Doin’s: Summer Love Edition list for some of our favorite ideas, all inspired by our favorite summer memories.
Before diving in, we encourage you to sit down with your beau and chat about your own favorite summer memories. From swinging in a hammock to building sandcastles at the beach, your childhoods are full of date night inspiration. We’ll be displaying the South print from the Southern Weddings Shop this season as a reminder that traditions are sweeter when shared—you can pick one up for your home here!
From now until August 31, we’ll also be using the hashtag #PassThePopsicles on Instagram to share all of our summer adventures. Use it yourself when you post about your favorite activities, date nights (friend dates count too!), and moments this summer, and each month, you’ll be entered to win a date night on us! We’ll be choosing a new winner at the end of each month, and you can use the hashtag as many times as you’d like on your summer posts. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the hashtag to get inspired by y’all and your great ideas!
We are so excited about Summer Love and can’t wait to experience it right along with y’all! Share your summer with us and with your families and friends–be present, enjoy the moments, and pass them on. Together, let’s revisit childhood adventures, make new memories, and grow in love. Ready to get started? Let’s dive in!

What a fun idea! I was actually just telling my mom how nostalgic I was for summers growing up. We would go to swim team practice, come home and put on a dry suit and then head back to the pool to play the day away. I have such fond memories of times when the only responsibility was to be free and use your imagination!
finding a beau asap for these activities! this is so fun!!
Haha! Friend (and sister!!) dates count too!
This was so much fun! Thanks for including us. We’d love to have some of Graham’s photos to share, as well and get people to #passthepopsicles! :)
Of course! We’ll send some your way! :)
