Google+ Sweet Tea Sundays No. 57 - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

On Tuesday mornings, it’s a little bit inevitable that conversation in the Southern Weddings office will include a brief evaluation of the previous night’s episode of The Bachelor (or The Bachelorette, depending on the season!)–yes ma’am, there are a handful of Bachelor franchise fans among us! An office favorite, probably unsurprisingly, is the sweet Southern Sean, who found love on The Bachelor two years ago, and has filled his Instagram with sweet snippets of married life in Dallas ever since. We were so happy to have Sean contribute to V7 and share his favorite thing about marriage with us!

From the moment my journey on The Bachelor began, I told everyone the same thing: I was looking for my best friend. I know that might have sounded cliché, but I was lucky enough to be raised by two amazing parents who showed me that the foundation of any successful marriage is friendship. After thirty-five years, my parents still can’t get enough of one another. Though it sounded improbable, I was hoping to find that same friendship in one of the twenty-five women I was soon to meet.

Well, if you watched the show you know what happened.

I met a beautiful, dark-haired, goofball of a woman named Catherine, who was definitely “best friend” material. In fact, she was “wife material.” When the show ended in Thailand, I got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with me.

Amazingly, she said yes.

Fourteen months later, we got married on live TV. Since our wedding in January 2014, we’ve been inseparable. For me, the wonderful aspects of marriage are simple–waking up next Catherine each morning, eating her delicious home-cooked meals, cuddling with her on the couch while we watch our favorite TV shows, walking our dogs. This is the stuff of life…the everyday things that happen when no one else is around, when there are no cameras. Just us.

It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that I get to experience life’s most memorable moments with the person I love the most. Even better, I get to experience life’s dull, uneventful moments with her. She truly makes “the everyday” fun.
