Southern Weddings

Welcome back to another Sweet Tea Sunday! We hope y’all are loving these posts as much as we are–not only is it fun to introduce you to some of our dear friends, it’s also a wonderful reminder of everything there is to look forward to after the wedding. Today’s advice comes from Erin of Blue-Eyed Bride, who started blogging while planning her May 2008 wedding. She now writes about all of the adventures that have come in the five years post-wedding, and we love following along with her sweet family!

In five years of marriage, the most important thing I have learned is to let go of expectations. I think we all come into marriage with our own ideas of how we’ll run the household, what kinds of boundaries we’ll set with extended family, or how we’ll raise or discipline children. Once I decided to let go of those things, relax, and make decisions with Todd, life got a lot easier. We’re a team and we’re on the same page. We both have parents who love us and love our kids, so what’s the harm in seeing them to make everyone happy? And most of the time, it gives us a much-needed date night! Picking my battles and accepting that I’m not always going to get my way has made me a happy wife. And I have a pretty fantastic husband to do life with, too.
