Southern Weddings

Monthly Archives: March 2013

Since the Old Edwards Inn is my absolute favorite destination in North Carolina (see here for why!), this film from McKenzie Miller was a shoe-in from the start. If I needed extra convincing, though, Wesley’s mile-wide smile, her shocked face when she opened Matt’s gift, and all of the (Southern) winter details that filled their wedding did the trick. Please enjoy, friends!

From the bride:

On January 26, 1957, my grandmother married my grandfather in Moultrie, Georgia. 57 years later to the day, I became Mrs. Matthew Edmonds up in the beautiful mountains of Highlands, NC. We lost my grandfather in September of last year and couldn’t have imagined a better way to remember him on their anniversary. It was the most incredible feeling to be surrounded by our two families and our closest friends for an entire weekend of celebrating what God has blessed the two of us with.

We had only dated for a year when we got engaged but that saying “you know when you know”, well, I believe it! Highlands made the perfect setting for an Atlanta girl and a Birmingham boy to be joined in marriage before God and before our very favorite people. We are so blessed and thankful for such a perfect weekend, icy roads and all, and couldn’t have dreamed of a better start to forever.

Thank you so much for sharing, McKenzie!

We have been filling new shop orders like crazy this week in the office! Some brand new items made their debut in our little store and we’re gaga over them!

Speaking of the shop, make sure you take a look through it so you can enter to win an iPad Mini!! We’re overflowing with joy this week and wanted to pass on the good feeling with a giveaway. No complaints there, right?

Southern traditions are one of our favorite things to talk about! This week, Marissa tells us about all the funny details of the groom’s cake.

We loved seeing all the sweet things y’all did for our February #SouthernDoin challenge. This week, we’re back with March’s challenge in honor of spring. In honor of spring, we’re back with March’s challenge.

Real Weddings are oh so lovely!

Natalie + Shobie’s rustic barn wedding was dripping with lovely Southern details, beautiful colors and romance. See it here.

We love Laura + Micah’s wedding story of how their garden “I do’s” went “wrong” but felt perfectly right. See it here.

AnnaKathryn + Ryan’s big day was full of intentional details and fun surprises. We love how A + R’s family came together to bring their ideas to life. See it here.

Before y’all head out for a fun-filled weekend, be sure to check out this week’s Facebook Friday. Jenny Evelyn is treating us to a sweet engagement session!

Happy weekend, my dears!

Our mission at Southern Weddings is twofold: to inspire y’all to live full lives, and then to draw from those rich wells to create meaningful beginnings to married life. That’s why we love details — not because they’re “pretty,” but because they say something about who you and your fiance are, and what matters most to you as a couple. We LOVE learning about new resources to help y’all do just that, and we especially love sharing them with you!

That’s just one reason we’re so excited to be partnering with our friends at Midori to unveil their brand new offering: custom printed ribbons!

Midori Custom Printing is the first of its kind – a totally interactive site that allows users to see their custom-printed ribbons as they’re being created, ensuring each customer receives exactly what inspires her. So neat!

There are over 100 ribbon colors, over 100 symbols and sayings, and 13 ink colors to choose from — so, something for everyone! They also have MONOGRAMS, which y’all know we love!

Custom ribbon printing isn’t an entirely new idea, but the way Midori does it is. In a word, quality. They print on their regular high-quality, luxury ribbons (double faced satin, rayon trimming and herringbone, oh my!), and everything is hand-printed by their in house design and production team. The ribbons are also heat stamped instead of ink-pressed, which allows for intricate patterns and fonts to be precisely placed on the ribbon in great detail. Absolutely no compromising on quality here!

Once you get these pretties in your hot little hand, the options, of course, are endless: to wrap invitations and save the dates, to tie off favors, to finish off ceremony bells like mine, to tie together sparklers for the end of the night…

Midori’s new site should be up and running on Monday, but in the meantime, be sure to check out their main site here! Happy creating!
