Happy Fourth of July!

by in Inspirations, Main on

Happy Fourth of July, ladies + gents! We hope you’re celebrating with your families, eating barbecue (whether you like it Memphis style, Western North Carolina style, or Eastern North Carolina style, like me!), diving into some red velvet cake and heading out for fireworks this evening. We’ll see you back here tomorrow with our regular posts!

As you well know, today is July 4th! As you spend your day grilling out and watching fireworks, remember the other fourth, Southern Wedding’s fourth print edition!

There are only 12 days for you to secure your ad slot in Southern Weddings V4! The image above is from Erik Clausen, the mastermind at Poser:Image (and one of our fabulous print advertisers). For a double dose of photography goodness, that stunning photo comes from photographer Kari Crowe’s own wedding!

Shoot me an email if you want all of the juicy details about how to advertise in V4! Just as an added goody, I will shoot off a firework for all vendors that sign up today. Happy July 4th!

Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

I’m so excited about this weekend! The Fourth of July may just be my favorite holiday. Summer, cookouts, pool parties and fireworks?? I’d say that’s my cup of tea and then some. You guys must be excited too, so let’s get to the round-up!

We loved looking through the images from this Marina Engagement Shoot by Gabe Aceves. It’s just preppy and sweet enough for the second week of summer. We’re tempted to head to a marina ourselves!

Just to hold you over until V4 hits the shelves in September, we’re taking a look back at some of our favorite features from V3. Mine was the “Sweet Love” feature by Amelia Lyon. I was nuts for the love story and the glamorous details amid the rustic setting.

We know your bridesmaids are special to you. They deserve gifts as unique as they are. That’s where Jess Wainer glass comes in. Her glass work is completely hand-made without any molds. Each piece is different from the last! Tell us how your ‘maids make your life fun and full for a chance to win five mini bud vases to gift them with!

From red velvet cake to fried chicken, we know you’ve got those flour-covered recipes passed down through the generations. Yummy Southern food and great Southern cooks are things to be admired, so we’re asking you to share your family’s most delicious eats. We’ll be compiling them for a future feature and for some fun downloadable recipe cards. Head to the original post to see how you can enter your best Southern recipes!

The Fourth of July may be of the most romantic holidays ever! Imagine sitting with your honey on a picnic blanket as fireworks explode above you — perfect, right?? Lara (and the rest of us — we can’t get enough good love stories) want to know the moment you felt fireworks with your sweetie. You know what we mean, those heart explosions when you know that this person is the one. Go to the original post and tell us all about it, you could win one of our favorite Fab Finds from V3, heart or love sparklers from Tops Malibu.

Y’all know we love a great outdoor soiree. But in the South, the weather doesn’t always cooperate. In this week’s Southern Style post, Marissa rounded up the practical and adorable wellies we love to keep you dry during the storm!

Sierra featured Emily’s sister and brother-in-law, Kate + Cormac as the Real Wedding Gallery of the week. We love looking back through their handmade gathering.

This week’s lovely Real Weddings:

Katie + Brian’s Kentucky picnic wedding was “classy Southern fun” all the way. We especially love seeing all their guests in hats and bow ties playing corn hole. See it here and here.

Katie + Nathan created a timeless garden wedding. We loved seeing the before and after from Katie’s Southern Bride of the Month post! See their Charleston wedding here and here.

We love big announcements!

Dearest vendors, there are only 14 days left to secure your ad spot with us in V4! Join the Southern Weddings Family! We’d love to have you. Email Whitney to learn about all the fab things we have in story for you!

Don’t forget about our super-awesome, almost-too-good-to-be-true-but-it-IS-true iPad giveaway!

Brides, we know you love a good deal. Refinery29, an online shopping site has partnered with The Aisle for a limited time to create a curated bridal shopping boutique. Check out the boutique here and don’t forget to read about the ways you can make your wedding even more affordable.

A weekend send-off

We know you’re dying to get away for July 4 weekend, but watch this video from Heart Stones Films before you do! Cara + Clif’s Mississippi wedding is beautiful! You won’t regret it.
