Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

Whoa, y’all! Hang on to your hats because this round-up is bursting at the seams! We have so much wedding goodness to share with you and quite a few announcements that should put a huge grin on your face.

If you follow Emily on Twitter, then you know she attended the National Stationery Show last week. Emily is self-described paper-obsessed, so she’s the perfect person to round up and share the latest designs and sneak peaks of new lines with you!

There was so much paper-goodness that it warranted six posts!

We can’t do the National Stationery Show justice in this round-up, so head to the original posts to take it all in.
Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V, Part VI.

We’ve all heard the nightmares about bridesmaid dresses and their bad reputations. Things have changed over time, thank goodness, and we know you have fantastic taste. Nevertheless, finding a flattering dress for each one of your ‘maids that also shows off her personality is no easy feat. That’s where twobirds Bridesmaid comes in! Their dresses can be wrapped 15 different ways! Head on over to the original giveaway post to win two dresses in the color of your choice!

With the Royal Wedding still on our minds (let’s be real, we’re still talking about it), Emily brought up a good question in the Southern Etiquette column. Prince William decided against a wedding ring. Does your spouse wear a wedding ring? How would you feel if he or she chose not to? Head over to the original post to weigh in.

This week, Lara is asking another crucial question that we often overlook. How do you want to feel on your wedding day? Use all five of your senses and focus on that amid all the wedding planning hubbub. Go to the original post to tell us how you want to feel the day of your wedding. Three lucky winners who do so will win one of Lara’s favorite Illume candles. They’re practically guaranteed to calm and relax you on your big day.

We have some wonderful news, y’all! Ever since we launched our new site, our RSS feed has looked a little less than lovely. But now the coding is fixed and we are so happy to tell you that our feed is up and running with full text and full images! In fact, we’re so ridiculously excited that we have a Mega Giveaway for you! Subscribe to our RSS feed and leave us a comment on the original post telling us you did so. You might just win a brand new iPad 2 loaded with SW content and a favorite app picked by each editor in the office! Head to the original post to read more details and more ways to enter!

Take a look at our Real Weddings Gallery! This week, we’re featuring Brooke + Victor, a reader favorite from V3. We can’t get the bright blue accents out of our heads! Too pretty.

Don’t forget about these great opportunities!

Our big Southern Weddings yard sale is coming up on June 10! All the SW gals will be there with bells on (and with sweet tea, of course) to help you pick out some great wedding decorations! The proceeds will go to two great causes. Email me at [email protected] if you want to RSVP.

We’re still accepting ads for our next issue, Southern Weddings V4! We loved how beautiful the ads in V3 looked next to our spreads and how well received they were! If you want in on the action, email Whitney at [email protected].

Lastly, we have some fun announcements for you this week!

Want another chance to win some bridesmaids dresses? Bridesmaid Trade is having a giveaway! If you win, you will be able to rent up to eight dresses from their selection of J.Crew and Ann Taylor bridesmaid dresses for free! The giveaway ends today so hurry over to their blog for more details on how to enter.

After you’re done winning a wedding, you can also try your hand at winning a new bedroom set! It’s basically the best bridal shower gift ever! Thomasville Furniture agrees, because that’s what they’re calling their giveaway. If you’re getting married between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012, head to Thomasville’s Facebook page, “like” them and fill out the registration form under the page’s “Home Sweet Home” tab. Registration ends June 27, so don’t wait!

Before you take off for your weekend festivities, I have to share a photo with a great story behind it. Photogen Inc. captured the wedding day of Kelsey + James, including a sentimental tradition. The handkerchief carried by Kelsey was also carried by every woman in the family on her wedding day since the 1800s! Each bride signs and dates the envelope that holds it after the wedding.

This wedding might be from Minnesota (shh, don’t tell), but it’s a wonderfully Southern tradition, too. I love the history! See more of the wedding on Photogen Inc’s blog.

Have a splendid Memorial Day weekend, friends! I’ll see you back here on Monday.
