In case you haven’t heard, we’re moving! Just a couple short days and we’ll be moving our offices to a bigger and better place! We are all very excited. I’m looking forward to decorating my new desk, and Emily has already brainstormed paint colors for our new digs. For our new mailing address, click here. And now… a few fun announcements in honor of our big move! First of all, we’re having our first-ever SW charity “yard sale” here in Chapel Hill, NC! That’s right! We have a plethora of wedding supplies, event goodies, furniture, props, candles by the truck-load, decor, lighting, lanterns, and seriously enough Southern wedding goodness to fill two warehouse storage units! Rather than having a traditional sale, we’re donating the proceeds to tornado victims here in the South and to Stop Hunger Now, a wonderful organization that helps feed people all over the world. So, mark your calendars for a chance to get your hands on some of the prettiest things we’ve ever seen, all while giving back to two great causes! First come, first serve, y’all! Starting fresh and being able to relax. There is so much leading up to a big move, but once it is all over you can relax and start new.
I do LOVE organizing a new space, but I think my favorite thing about moving would have to be redecorating!! It’s always so much fun to come up with a new concept for a new space, and a great excuse to make a run to HomeGoods and TJ Maxx :)
I love the excitement of moving to a new place! I’ve loved decorating since I was little (I used to circle everything I liked in the new Pottery Barn catalogs) and being an adult and actually getting to buy some of it is the best feeling ever! It’s also a great bonding experience with my fiancé as well! :)
My favorite part of moving is just getting everything situated and unpacked. Making the new place a home! My future husband and I moved in together less than a year ago and it was great to mesh both our styles and all of our things! You learn a lot that way!
I love the cleanse that comes with moving. When you move you get to clean out drawers you haven’t seen the back of in years and find out of date clothes stuffed in the back of closets. You get to pack it all away and donate it or have a garage sale and you get to move on a little lighter.
I also love the flood of memories that comes with packing up a space. You can spend hours pouring over old projects, letters and pictures and remember all the good times you shared in that space. It is all part of moving on with life and it’s a wonderful feeling.
My favorite part about moving is the excitment of starting a new chapter of life. I love the new neighbors, the fresh walls to decorate, and the new challenges that come with a new place!
The best part of moving is unpacking your bedroom and making your bed. It immediately transforms your place into your new home!
My favorite thing about moving is finding things that I forgot I had and then using them in the new place. It’s like getting something new without spending money.
The best part about moving is the “nesting” that follows! Little by little, a house becomes a home.
i love the getting rid of stuff! when i pack, it’s downsizing time and i get rid of all the clothes i don’t wear, papers i don’t need, and anything else that should have been trashed ages ago. such a great feeling!!
My fave part is organizing the kitchen! So much money goes into food and nice cookware/dishes so I like to make sure nothing goes to waste due to not being able to see/find it :)

I have moved twice while trying to plan our wedding this june!!!!! Talk about CRAZY! Once into an apartment and this past time into our first HOME! But the best part by far is unpacking everything (which usually means being finished in the late hours of the evening) blowing up our air mattress and setting it up in the middle of all the chaos, popping a bottle of champagne, and toasting to a new home!
I’m actually moving across the country in June (to New Orleans) so moving has clearly been on my mind recently. I love planning my new space! And, of course, putting it together once I get there!
I love finding items that you have not thought about because they had been put away or were hiding under the bed. They are like new!
What I love about moving is the fresh start that comes with a new place. Whether it’s discovering new restaurants or finding unique stores or parks to take the dogs for walks. Plus it’s just really fun sending out cute moving announcements and then having a housewarming party for your loved ones. Especially since they will most likely be helping with the move : )

My favorite part of moving is when you take a break right in the thick of it. Sitting on cardboard boxes, ordering pizza for dinner, and gazing around at your new home-to-be. Now that is a magic moment :)
I love moving! We moved a lot growing up and my mom always told me “remember your dream on the first night because it will come true”. That is the best part of moving for me :)
This is perfect timing becuase I am also currently in the process of packing and moving; me and my honey will be moving in 2 weeks. My favorite part of this whole moving process has got to be the decorating the new place part. We are moving from a very small apartment in the city, to a very large loft outside the city -AND we get to paint :) !!! I am so excited to decorate it and make it feel like “home”. Maybe something in one of those boxes can help me in this department ;)

OoO.. I would say that my favorite part of moving would be decorating! Is it bad to say that I still have a few boxes that need to be unpacked? And we’ve (hubs and I) have been living in our condo for a year now!? But yeah, decorating is my favoritest (so not a word) part :)
My favorite part of moving is the organizing and the purging! I feel like I give away the most things when I’m moving because I spend the time to really narrow down the boxes I’m trying to pack!
There is so much that is wonderful about moving into a new place, the organizing and decorating for sure, but I think most of all, it’s a wonderful time to reflect back upon the memories in the “old” home and to look forward to the many new memories to come in the “new” home. Best of luck to you!
I get a strange joy from the organizing aspect. It took a lot of post-its to figure out the most logical way to stock my new kitchen, but it was worth it. Not to mention how refreshing it is to get rid of unnecessary things.
Well my husband and I just moved into a new place last week! We are newly weds as well as being newly renters! My favorite part has certainly NOT been dragging all of our furniture up and down all of the stairs we have, but we made the best of it! It is our first place together and so we have really enjoyed making the space our own, putting all of the decor and furniture just in the right place and really trying to make the home reflect our personality… that has been my favorite part! This first move and place together will be a memory I will never forget, and I am so lucky to be able to share it with my wonderful husband!
My favorite part is the decorating. When I got married I moved to a little condo with my husband and made some of the best memories choosing paint colors and furniture together. I’m very big on decorating!
I think we’re all moving at just about the same time! Come June 9th I’ll be moving into my very first, brand-new townhouse! Unfortunately my husband is to be deployed just two days before I close on the house and can’t help me move :*-( He made me promise that I wouldn’t set up his “man-cave” as that’s his big project for when he gets back! However, the last time I moved (two years ago into the apartment I’m in now), I had two favorite parts. The first was eating food on the floor, surrounded by boxes, and just laughing about the seemingly impossible task of unpacking/organizing ahead of me, and the other favorite part was when I upgraded from an inflatable mattress in the middle of the living room to a brand new bed I had delivered! Talk about UPGRADE! I think my favorite part about moving to the new place will be knowing the no matter how I decorate while my husband is away, it will be OUR place as soon as he gets back <3 Have a great move, ladies!
Decorating a new space is definitely the most fun for me when I move. Having a new space seems to get my creative juices flowing.
I am addicted to moving! I have only been in my current home for a year and I am ready for a new challenge. I love change and I love decorating! Moving is a fresh start…you can be creative and do things you wish you would have done in the previous home. As much as I love moving and “re-doing”….I am looking forward to building my dream home one day down the line that will hopefully last (until I am ready to do it again) :)
My poor fiance’ thinks I am crazy :) He likes to do it and leave it! So my random emails throughout the day mentioning me wanting to re decorate or the cute house I found online, does not amuse him.
I have moved at least 10 times in my lifetime, and I’m only in my 20’s! Every move means something to me because it’s a new beginning, a chance to reinvent myself and learn about the new community I am a part of. I moved from the Pacific Northwest to Maryland a few years back, and it changed my life. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone in every aspect of my life, and am a better person for it. Even though I moved back to the Northwest to finish my education, once I finish and get married next year, hopefully we will return to somewhere on the East.. and start another new adventure together!

My fiance and I will have just moved into our new “home” the weekend before! It’s not just wedding season, but apparently moving season!! :) While I won’t be actually living in our new place until after the wedding, I have several favorite parts of moving. The first occurs during the boxing up of old stuff…reliving memories while at the same time going through stuff that needs to be (and should be) given away. I get such joy out of taken nicely used items to Goodwill to be another person’s treasure! My next favorite part is getting a chance to stretch my creative decorating passions all with the help my sweet fiance. He loves seeing me so passionate about making our home beautiful that he’s willing to basically give me free reign when it comes to decorating! And then of course, my most favorite part is that we will be moving into OUR home where it won’t just be about the living space but the love we’ll share as newlyweds :) happy moving!!!

The best thing about moving is turning a house into a home. It is a fresh start, a chance to clean out what you have and reorganize your life. After all of that is done then you get to create a home – a place that is filled with comfort, familiarity and love.
My favorite part of moving is all of the love, time and sweat that goes into the whole process. The fun of having your friends and family over to help in the process as a whole! And, the anticipation leading up to the move and the joy of seeing it all come together in the end!

My favorite part of moving is the first night in the new place. It is a great sense of accomplishment (the move) when laying in bed that first night (even if the mattress is on the floor).
I just recently moved into a new home with my fiance and so far, our favorite part of moving into a new place has been coming home, changing out of stuffy work clothes and into sweats, hiking up the volume on our ipod and knocking out much needed home-repair projects! To reward ourselves for our hard work, it is fun to end the night eating take-out on the floor since we currently lack a table and chairs!

Being the daughter of a preacher and an army captain, I’ve had my fair share of moving around the country and world! When I was little, my favorite part of moving was running into the new house and picking out the best bedroom over my older brother. As a teenager, I loved being able to decorate in whatever stage I was in (anywhere from tropical to country). When I moved to college, I was all about reinventing myself and making new friends. Now that I’m in my 20s and about to graduate from college, I can’t wait to go to flee markets and yard sales to find things for my new apartment! I’m excited to move to a new city to begin my life as a big girl in the real world!
The best thing about moving into a new place is the sense of accomplishment from it all, and also getting to spend time with my hunny creating out home. I like to smile and stand back to think where we have came from and how far we have come together as a couple. :)

I always have a ton of boxes of clothes and miscellaneous objects to donate to Goodwill, which not only makes the moving truck lighter but also makes my heart smile! Now I can begin dreaming up new color schemes and furniture layouts and bargain shopping (ohh how I love bargain shopping) to find the perfect new accessories that will make our new place feel like home!

i’ve lived with my parents pretty much my whole life. aside from leaving to complete my bachleors, i was content right there. our family has been military during the most of my childhood so moving wasnt really anything new but it wasnt anything exciting when you’re moving from base housing to base housing.
and then the man that loves me more than i could ever understand asked me to marry him and looking for our first home began. it was tiny, pretty much the size of an elementary class room. but it was ours. we couldnt paint the walls, but i didnt, we couldnt have pets but i had we bought a fish. we lived there as newlyweds for close to two years until we bought our first home. moving into OUR home was incredible. i loved picking the paint colors. i loved decorating. i loved the late night pizza while we watched tv shows on the floor because we didnt have a tv stand. i loved planting gardenias to make the yard more me….correction, i loved watching my husband sweating in the yard planting my gardenias while i watched. hey, he’s mine, i can watch :)
so, if i had to pick ONE part…it would be the hope of the future of the possibilities with the person you love and are going to spend the rest of your life with.

I love finding new uses for things, and displaying things that had to be stored at the smaller apartment! My fave memories surround what we didn’t have, when we first moved into our house we didn’t have a couch or dining room table, but we had a killer new rug, so it served as both. It was one month long picnic in our living room!
My absolute favorite thing about moving to a new place is when everything is set up and organized, and I can just relax and enjoy the new place. Besides that, I love buying new things to decorate/furnish the new home!!!!!!

My fiancée and I are making our first big move together in less than a month, from Michigan to Florida. While the organizing is beneficial and the decorating is loads of fun (and stress) my favorite part about the move, will be the exploring. I love finding out all the details of places. The little shops, the parks, the homey feel that you don’t get unless you stroll hand in hand downtown.

I’m moving from AZ to Boston this summer and I found a huge box filled with cabbage patch dolls. It felt great to give the dolls to little girls in my life that will treasure them as much as I did.

Nothing beats being in your new place after having just moved and sitting on the floor enjoying your first meal there – even when it’s pizza and beer using your unpacked boxes as your “dining table.”
While moving is the most tiring experience, especially with a little one! The best part would have to be finding lost treasures! From things that you thought you had lost to things that you just totally forgot you had. Also, being able to reorganize and label things so your more tidy in the future. Good luck on the move!
First off, I love you all! :) I would have to say that my favorite part of moving is the re-decoration process. This is the chance to get creative with your new space and really make it YOU. I’m looking forward to a move within the next 8-10 months and I’m already thinking about what my new office space will look like. Besides the organizing (which I also love) I must say that the idea of a blank space, clean slate, white walls…it excited me since I get to decorate! I love finding the new place to move into! My husband and I are just beginning to look for our first house; picking out necessities and figuring out what is not needed. I do need a porch, an office for my business, and closet doors!!!! (we currently do not have closet doors..grr). Eric needs a fenced in yard for our dog Gator and he is dying for some man-space, a garage, a driveway, anything. I’d love to add 1 more box of cool wedding stuff to my already overflowing closet :) Im sure my hubby would love this, too. :) ha.
LOVE organizing. It’s the only time when I know where everything! Plus it gives me an excuse to go to the container store as much as I want :)

The best part of moving: The first spring at your new place and waking up to find beautiful blossoms that you didn’t know were there!
My favorite part of moving is the search before the move. Appreciating architecture, neighborhoods, and landscape. From deciding on a cute bungalow or a modern apartment, the possibilities are endless and the opportunities are numerous. Getting to appreciate the interiors of the home is even more exciting than admiring the curb appeal. Hard wood floors, granite counter tops, and enough closet room for all of us women! Then of course, turning it into your home!
My fiancé and I will be officially moving in together, into a new house (rental for now-we’re both still in school) at the end of July. I am so excited because even though we will only be renting it, I feel like it will be ‘ours’. Right now we live with his two roommates and I can only imagine the feeling of waking up next to him, knowing that this like the beginning of our little adventure together. We have started to shop for some decorations. He is the interior designer between the two of us so he pretty much picks everything out, but I love going with him because it’s time we get to spend together, which is often sparse with school.
My favorite part of moving is unpacking and finding things you’d forgotten about and left in boxes in the previous move. Memorabilia, photos – all of it’s awesome.

I love the purge of old, less used, items. Like clothes I haven’t worn in ages, knick knacks that never made it out of the box, and old stacks of paper/bills that can be recycled. Moving is a pain, but it always feels like a good opportunity to start a new, nice and organized and without all the excess (and then I start to build it all back up again until the next move!)
After being in a military family growing up, I’m no stranger to moving to new places! With moving comes a whole lot of excitement, yet often a lot of heartache too. But I have to say in spite of the sadness that sometimes comes with closing one chapter of your life, the best part is opening a new one with entirely different people. Making new friends is one of the most amazing things to me!

I love meeting new neighbors, trying new restaurants, and checking out different stores. Even moving just a few minutes away can bring on a fresh perspective and a new wave of inspiration!

It was fun gathering up all of the random pieces of furniture in the family, and making them my own. I love that most of the things in my apartment have fun stories to go with them since they have been passed from generation to generation!
My fiance and I are closing on our first house on monday !! I’m so excited. The moment we get the key I’m driving right to it. I will fling open the windows, lock the door, and go room to room making snow angels in all that brand new carpet !
My fiance and I have moved nearly every year for the last 6 years (between school and new jobs!) – which pretty much makes us experts on the process! My favourite thing about moving into a new home is making multiple batches of my family’s recipe for “ooey-gooey chocolate chip cookies” to familiarize myself with the new oven. better to try out the appliances on cookies so you’re ready to go before you have the fam over for Sunday roast!

My favorite part of moving is all the new smells! I know..sounds wierd, but every place/person has their own smell! My fiance and I are moving in to our first home together and I can’t wait to unpack, organize, and then sit and relax on the couch and let the wonderful aromas engulf us! It’s not the “new car” smell, it’s the new “our home smell!”

Moving… well it can be stressful- moving supplies, large furniture, rallying friends and family to help! it can be sad- sorting through old items and memories and it can be really exciting- like getting married and starting a new chapter with your hubby! I am so excited to start to that new chapter, the best part is going to be designing and decorating our master bedroom together! This will be our special space on our new home!!!
I love everything about moving! I’m a little OCD so to me, packing is like getting in a really good deep clean – I donate a ton of stuff and get rid of all the excess clutter around the house. Unpacking and getting organized is probably my very most favorite – always a challenge to figure out how to make everything fit and finding the perfect spot for each little item of decor! Moving, in general, makes me excited for the exciting adventures that will happen in my new little home!

My favorite part of the moving process is packing. It’s amazing what you find when you are cleaning your home and packing things up. I moved into a new home two years ago and it was really cool going through all my things that were in the back of my closet that I hadn’t seen in years, and reminiscing about the past.
I think my favorite part is getting the keys and opening the door to an empty apartment. It’s such an exciting moment to have a blank canvas in front of you and know all of the memories about to be made!

Its like being able to start all over again. You can get rid of stuff you don’t really need, go shopping at goodwills and thrift stores and reinvent your style! I’ve moved every September for the last six years and every place i’ve lived has looked totally different depending on my changing style and interests. Its stressful but a great way to have a fresh start (always on a budget of course!) with decorating ideas and experiment with rearranging and purging!

I love starting fresh, getting off on the right foot, and decorating with a new style! I hope I can still win the contest even though I live in Canada :P
Even though it’s a pain to figure out what to keep and what to trash, it often brings back some great memories! Plus I love to be organized and this gives me the chance to take full advantage!
I love moving!!! My favorite parts are 1)packing so i can clean and purge the old stuff and then 2) buy and reorganize when i get to the new place!!
I like that moment right before you start to unpack and you look around and think that its a great new begining! Then I like to blare dixie chicks and get to work!!
As stressful as moving can be, I really enjoy the opportunity to clean out and shed all of my unnecessary belongings. And my absolute favorite part is getting together with my mom to brainstorm and shop for decorations for the new place. She is so fun to plan with and an amazing decorator, I’m very lucky!
I just got a contract on my house yesterday and will be closing in 2 weeks! I am beginning to pack and am already thinking about how fun it will be to open the boxes after my wedding as my to-be husband and I settle into our new house!
L..O.V.E. the feeling of unpacking the last thing and knowing that your new place, at that moment, is likely the cleanest/most organized it will ever be. Bliss.
my favorite part of moving is actually packing. i LOVE finding the things that i shoved in the back of a drawer, closet, or even under the bed! usually, it’s something i haven’t thought about in years but takes me back to a great time spent with wonderful friends! so i have a moment of reminiscence, then plop it into the box to be rediscovered again!
My favorite part of moving is cleaning out everything as you pack so that when you get to the new place you only have the things that are most useful and important to you. I also love being able to organize and decorate. When my fiance and I bought our first house we did a complete kitchen remodel and it was the most exhausting but fun project we’ve ever tackled. Over a year later we still talk about how much we love everything we did in our kitchen and how we can’t imagine finding another kitchen we love as much.
I hate that I’m going to miss the yard sale but I’ll be down in Florida at my best friend’s bridal shower/bachelorette party weekend. Hope you have another one that I can attend.

My fiance and I moved into our apartment about a year ago. My favorite part of the move was finding forgotten odds and ends that had been stowed away, deep in some drawer. I found a beautiful sketch of an antebellum home, one of my grandmother’s embroidered handkerchifs, and an old shadow box. Moving helped me re-discover these wonderful items and they all now have a special spot in my new home.
I love organizing, especially putting the toothbrush and silverware where they need to be. That is when a new place starts to feel like home!
My favorite part of moving is after decorating and unpacking everything, showing off my new space to my friends and family. When my new home is ready for other people to see and enjoy, I finally feel like it’s truly mine. I also love the “before” part of unpacking and redecorating when I look at decorating magazines and websites to get an idea of the new design concepts I want for my new space.
The best part of moving into a new place is to find all sort of random things while packing that you have collected over the years and remembering the stories behind them that were so special that made you saved them in the first place :)

Well, in the past two years I have moved three times! So, I know for sure that I have two favorite things when it comes to moving. 1) organizing (of course! I love planning and organizing is a great outlet for that) and 2) making artwork for the walls! (DIY is so so fun!).
I love packing when I’m moving…without fail, I always find something sentimental I had forgotten about. While it’s always bittersweet to move from an old place, I always look forward to creating memories in a new one :)
Though the thought of moving is a daunting task, but one of the fun parts of it is the trip down memory lane. When I am sorting through my stuff trying to pick out what to take and what to get rid of, I love looking through all the old pictures and momentos that have made it through all of my many moves! It reminds me of all the good memories and good people I’ve know throughout the years!
Packing up belongings separately and then unpacking them together as a married couple would be my favorite part of moving. You get to share all the stories and backgrounds of trinkets and items that are sentimental to each of you.

I love going through all my stuff, getting rid of what I don’t need, and organizing everything once I get it unpacked! The other good thing about moving is that you have a chance to redo a room if you want to!

You might think I’m crazy, but my favorite part of moving is getting rid of things I don’t need. There’s something really satisfying about sending a friend home with a book or picture frame she’s admired before and about dropping off a few big boxes of items at our SPCA Rummage Sale or Goodwill.
My favorite part about moving is finding all the old stuff you forgot you had. When I moved out of my college town to head back towards my home town I spent very little time actually packing up boxes, but hours just looking through old photos and trying on clothes that I should have been wearing all along.

I have moved so many times in my life I have lost count. Most recently, four weeks ago from NYC to Louisville. The best part about moving is getting lost and finding yourself. In a new town or neighborhood, you’re bound to lose your direction a few times before getting it straight. That’s a good thing, though, because you’ll inevitably discover something special and new– maybe a great cafe or cool boutique, maybe you’ll meet someone who will end up becoming your best friend. Moving allows you to shine in a new way and see things through a new lens- to forge new friendships, launch new endeavors and discover your purpose, renewed.

As a seasoned moving veteran, I firmly believe there are many, many great parts about moving. Seriously y’all, I have moved 15 times, but somehow just keep coming back to the south! Some of my favorites things about moving are new opportunities, new spaces to decorate, new places to explore, new foods to try, but that doesn’t quite trump my very favorite part of moving. There is nothing more magical than the opportunity to strengthen friendships by overcoming distance, while also creating brand new friendships in your new home. The moving process has turned me into an outgoing, easy-to-talk-to, adventurous soul, but it has also instilled in me a great love for my cell phone and paper products. There’s nothing better than receiving a hand written letter (on beautiful stationary) from a dear old friend! The best thing about moving is most certainly friends, old and new!
I love the opportunity to make a whole new place my own! I am big into organizing and I love the opportunity to make my place look like my version of ikea or the container store! Sounds strange but I love it!!
It’s the best finding household things (curtains, blankets, photos) that have been stored away that will be prefect in your new place!

I love redecorating. Donating items that no longer “fit” the current space and the hunt to find new pieces for the house. So much fun!!!
I just finished a move into the home I will be sharing with my husband-to-be after we get married in November! My favorite part so far of this move has been the first time we sat down together on our couch when all was clean, painted, organized and put in it’s place and thinking, “Wow, this is OUR home.” It was a very surreal and sweet moment. Not to mention, it sure is fun to decorate! I LOVE it!
I love finding long lost treasures and re-organizing so they’re not lost next time!

My favorite part is starting fresh and have new places to put all your stuff in :). During the moving out part, I get to throw out or give away things I haven’t used. On our last move, we got tired of our 3 year old sofa and our less than 1 year old tv stand, so we had salvation army come pick it up and take it to someone in need. It’s great to give back to the community! :)
