Southern Weddings

After weeks and months of dreaming for us (and a few extra days… er, weeks… of waiting for you!), our new site has arrived! Isn’t she as pretty as a little red wagon full of speckled pups? We couldn’t be more enamored. Shall we take a little tour?

NEW HEADERS! Our new headers were designed by the very talented Brooke Forry of Curious & Company Creative. (The rest of our site design comes courtesy of the equally talented folks at Flosites!) We loved our old header, but because it was Flash, it made it tricky for our readers who read SW via an iPod or an iPhone… or any other fancy technological device. After seeing Brooke’s work in V3 (she illustrated the “Choose Your Own Southern Wedding” feature!), we knew she’d do a spectacular job with our header. And she did! Thank you, Brooke! We also have to give a shout-out to calligrapher Kathryn Murray, whose work graces our print editions and now, our site!

REAL WEDDING GALLERIES We’re still busy busy busy populating our real wedding galleries with our past wedding features, but we’re thrilled you can now search more easily by state and color. Access the galleries by clicking “Real Weddings” up in the top nav bar, or clicking here.

EDITORIAL FEATURES We know have a B-E-A-UTIFUL spot to house all our past and present editorial features! We love the new format and are thrilled to get to feature our print lovelies online, too! You can access the editorial galleries by clicking “Editorial” in the top nav bar, or by clicking here.

WEDDING RESOURCES Back by popular demand, our Wedding Resources Directory is also accessible by the top nav bar! If you’re holding a wedding in the South, we hope our vendor directory will be your first stop on the planning train. Have a suggestion for a photographer, baker, planner, or other wedding vendor you think deserves to be in our directory? Shoot Emily an email!

STREAMLINED NAVIGATION Vendors, all of our submission, advertising, and contact information, as well as frequently asked questions, can now be found in the drop-down tab under “Info” in the top nav bar.

HI, Y’ALL! This new tab in the nav bar is your one-stop shop for learning more about the SW ladies. See our photos, take a gander at a few of our favorite things, and maybe even find out a little bit about our dream weddings.

ENHANCED POSTS As you might have noticed, when you roll over images in the blog, you now have the option of saving, Facebooking, or tweeting each one. Try it out! You can also tweet an entire post, or like it on Facebook. In the real wedding and editorial galleries, you’ll notice extra information pops up when you scroll over images — think of it as the blog equivalent of our mini conversation blurbs in V3!

INDIVIDUAL BLOGS Lara, Katharine, and I are definitely individuals, and we definitely have three different perspectives on weddings. (And what constitutes a balanced diet, but let’s not go there!) Accordingly, we thought y’all might enjoy hearing from each of us individually. The real wedding and giveaway goodness will continue right here on the main blog, but we all also have fun ideas up our sleeves for our new mini, personalized blogs. Check them out — the links are in the sidebar, under “Sit a spell with us”! For your organizational pleasure, we’re also planning to publish a round-up of all the individual posts at the end of every week.

And that’s just about that! Before we quit taking up your time and let you go explore on your own, however, we HAVE to give a HUGE thank you to Ross, Alina, Dima, Jenny, and the entire team at Flosites. Seriously, ladies and gents, they are INSANE. Pretty much everything you see on this site is custom and made just for us. In addition, not only is it easy on the eyes, it’s easy for us, and, we hope, for you, to use! Ross, we love you forever!!!
