Google+ Real North Carolina Wedding: Andrea + Michael, Part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

Andrea + Michael welcomed guests at the Greensboro Country Club, and I have to say the venue couldn’t have been more perfect for their Hollywood-inspired soiree.  (As a matter of fact, I think Miss Seymour’s first picture of the couple’s getaway car in front of the reception venue sums up the evening quite nicely.)  Botannica styled the understated blooms, and aptly-named Delicious Bakery designed A + M’s dramatic four-tiered wedding cake.  I’ll admit that I spent more than a few minutes perusing Abigail Seymour’s blog post of the evening, and it was well worth it.  Just saying.

Tell us about finding your wedding dress: After trying on about 10 dresses at a local boutique I was pretty much sold on a very “fashion forward” dress.  My mom wasn’t convinced it was the one, so we made an appointment at one other boutique, Hayden Olivia in Charlotte, NC.  I tried on about five dresses and when I put on the sixth dress, I pretty much knew it was meant for me!  While I love all things fashion, I am much more of a classic and traditional gal, so the simple silhouette of my Platinum by Priscilla of Boston dress was perfect for our classic and timeless wedding.
Describe your wedding flowers: Fabulous! I LOVED the flowers that Cindy at Botannica arranged for the wedding.  My bouquet and my bridesmaid’s bouquets were absolute perfection – my mostly cream/white bouquet had hints of pale pink and peach while my girls carried more vibrant “fluffy” flowers in pink and peach.  At the reception we chose to do a mix of high and low arrangements.  Again, Cindy hit a home run with the beautiful flowers in pinks, peaches, greens and creams all accented with clusters of pearls!
Describe your wedding cake: Our baker did an amazing job creating the traditional tiered confection I envisioned!  The crisp white tiers were accented with sugar pearls.  Between each tier were bunches of gorgeous pink, peach and cream flowers.  Our cake flavors, Strawberry Cream Torte and “Margaritaville,” were to die for!  In fact, I’d kill for a piece right now!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? The most memorable moment was our reenactment of Michael’s infamous “first date handshake” on the altar before our first kiss as a married couple.  We’re certainly romantic, but we also know how to have a little fun!  Most everyone in the crowd knew our first date story so it made for a great laugh!
What’s next for you as a couple?  What are you looking forward to in the future?  Michael and I currently live in Washington, DC where we plan on staying for the next few years while we build our careers.  We love to travel and plan on doing as much as possible!  Most importantly, we’re just enjoying being together and experiencing each day as husband and wife!

Congratulations, Andrea + Michael!  Enjoy your time in the capital city!
