Google+ Real Georgia Wedding: Nicole + Jason, Part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

This reception is almost too cute for words – but I’ll give it a shot anyway!  N + J celebrated their newlywed status with an afternoon luncheon at Vic’s on the River, and the bright colors are to die-for.  Famed Savannah Rum Runners designed the couple’s to-good-to-eat wedding cake, which I happily would cut into if it wouldn’t ruin the prettiness.  For images from this cute couple’s day-after session, check out Green Door Photography’s blog post here!

Tell us about finding your wedding dress:  Being a wedding photographer myself, I have seen a lot of dresses and wanted something totally different from all of my brides. I chose a mermaid shape.  Since we were having a destination wedding, I wanted something that would travel well also.  I ended up loving a very whimsical crinkled taffeta ivory dress, with unique strings of beads draping across the bodice.  My favorite detail was the fluttery ribbon that wrapped around my neck and cascaded down my back.  The dress exuded a very southern, Savannah feeling, and flowed beautifully with the ocean breeze at the wedding.
Describe your wedding flowers:
Absolutely gorgeous!  My bouquet was very sweet and feminine with dreamsicle colors.  The bouquet was made of peach garden roses, pink peonies, ranunculus, parrot tulips, lilies of the valley, and amaryllis.  It was wrapped in a picot edged ivory ribbon.  Our beach ceremony was decorated with redwood Manzanita branches and the aisle was lined with lime green lichen covered branches with sea grass buckets.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?
My husband will say when I walked down the beach toward him for the ceremony.  I remember staring into his tear-filled eyes during our ceremony.  We will never forget the feeling of true, genuine happiness throughout the entire day.
Did you write your own vows?  If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line?
We used both traditional vows along with writing our own special vows.  We related the ocean to marriage a lot during the ceremony with phrases like – “Sometimes the most beautiful beach is the one which has endured the most severe storms.”  We got married at 8:30 am so I told Jason, “I look forward to watching many more sunrises just like today with you.”  And Jason told me, “You are my someone to look forward to after a hard day’s work.  I love every minute I am with you.”
What’s next for you as a couple?  What are you looking forward to in the future?
We are growing more in love every day and enjoying spending time together.  We are decorating our new home and are looking forward to going on a tropical honeymoon in the winter.

Congratulations, Nicole + Jason!  Best of luck as you start your new life together!
