Google+ Southern Bridals: Andrea in North Carolina - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

Pale is the new tan, you hear?  All I needed to be convinced of that was one look at Andrea from her stunning bridals.  Andrea is a huge fan of this here blog and magazine (yay!), which makes us even more thrilled to feature her on our front page.  Maybe we’ll be lucky enough to feature her recent wedding, also shot by Abigail Seymour?  Read on for a few more details behind the shoot, and make sure you check out last week’s Abigail Seymour wedding while you’re at it!

From Andrea…

“I was so excited to have my bridal portraits taken at Graylyn Estates in Winston Salem, North Carolina.  This spot is the former home of a tobacco heir and is the most detailed and unique setting for such a special day.  The location has an amazing mix of gothic architecture and sweet, Southern charm.

My hair stylist for the day of the shoot and for my wedding day was Joselin of Joselin M. Color Studio.  Not only can he create amazing hair styles, he’s super fun to hang out with and I just love his Columbian accent!

Shannon Brinn, who works at my local Laura Mercier counter, did a quick consultation on the spot and I was so pleased with the results that I booked her immediately for the photo shoot and for my wedding day.  She listened to me carefully and kept everything looking natural and fresh.

I purchased my dress at Hayden Olivia in Charlotte, North Carolina exactly one year and a day before my wedding. I had been torn between it and another selection at a different salon and my mom, sister and I did a little driving “back and forth” in Charlotte before I made the final decision.  In the end, I was so happy that I went with a very simple, classic design.  More than anything, I want to look back at my wedding photos a decade from now and be happy that my choice was not at all trendy.  My dress is from the Platinum Priscilla of Boston collection, style PL210. My veil is the “Kate” style by Jennifer Leigh.

Cindy at Botanica Flowers arranged my bouquet for the shoot.  Cindy is absolutely a dream to work with and she always listens to my ideas no matter how crazy!  I gave Cindy an idea of what I wanted for my bouquet, but I wasn’t sure how it would turn out.  She is amazing at reading just what her clients want in their flowers, because when I picked up the bouquet on the day of the portraits I was floored by her perfectly executed combination of ranunculus, peonies, garden roses and dahlias!”

Gorgeous and so fresh. SO happy to see beautiful pale skin in a wedding dress. I’m over the whole super-tan thing, natural is better and healthier! (and i’m not judging because I used to tan like crazy).

For those of us who are melanoma-challenged we prefer the word, "fair".In all seriousness, these pictures are stunning and completely timeless. I love that you guys have been showing bridal and engagement shoots in addition to wedding photos. Keep up the great work!

I love this dress. I tried it on among others at Priscilla of Boston while on the dress hunt earlier this spring. I love the pleats in the back. This is such a sophisticated look and is beautiful on this stunning bride. Congrats!
