Google+ Real North Carolina Wedding: Abigail + Joe, Part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

The beautiful bride loved her flowers from Amy Lynn Originals, and so do we!  Large, single peony blooms mixed with snow white roses?  It doesn’t get more classically elegant than that.  The Raffaldini Vineyard where Abigail + Joe toasted their newlywed status with a tented reception is all kinds of gorgeous in the candlelight.  One of our favorite details?  The wine cork ring shot photographer Abigail Seymour caught alongside the couple’s particularly apropos escort cards.  What are the chances Elaine of Edible Artistry would send me a piece of the A + J’s chocolate mint and tres leche wedding cake?  Be sure to visit Abigail Seymour’s blog post from the big day here!

Describe your wedding flowers: I LOVED my wedding flowers.  I collected old milk glass vases for months, and wanted to use them throughout the wedding.  My floral designer translated my vision into reality perfectly – she filled the vases with white peonies and garden roses, rosemary, artichokes, and cotton to give a simple, rustic, and unique vibe.
Describe your wedding cake: The wedding cake was alternating layers of both Joe and my favorite flavors – chocolate mint and tres leche.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding?  I think the biggest challenge was planning a wedding far from where we live, and out of state from both our families.  It was stressful to take weekend visits every few months and feel like we had to get as many meetings packed in as possible while we were in town.  But in the end, it was totally worth it to have all our guests travel to an area special to us that we could share with all of them.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Being on the dance floor having the time of our lives with everyone that we love!
Did you write your own vows?  If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line? We didn’t on advice from our minister who suggested that by using the traditional vows, every time we go to another wedding and hear the same vows we will be reminded of our own – I just loved that idea!
What’s next for you as a couple?  What are you looking forward to in the future? We just returned from an amazing honeymoon in Australia, and we look forward to many more world travels in our future together as husband and wife!

Congratulations, Abigail + Joe!  Enjoy your travels together as newlyweds.
