Google+ Blogaversary Giveaway: Wedgewood - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

Okay, here I go again with the revealing post intros.  Want to know another mildly embarrassing/nerdy fact about me?  My dinnerware at home is Wedgewood willow ware.  Yes, I live in an apartment.  Yes, I just recently graduated from college.  And yes, I enjoy eating chicken nuggets off my antique willow ware.  What can I say?  The plates were passed down to me from my great aunt, and instead of keeping them in a closet for some far off day, I use them.  I put them through the dishwasher.  And I enjoy them every day.

All this to say that Wedgewood is a long-time favorite of mine, and I’m thrilled that they’ve agreed to gift one lucky reader with one of their classic crystal vases, designed by Vera Wang!  With Wedgewood, you know you’re getting nothing but the absolute best, and you know you’re getting an heirloom to be passed down to your grandchildren one day (who will then eat chicken nuggets off of it, apparently…).

To enter, leave a comment telling me whether or not you’re registering for fine china, and why.  (Bonus points if you include the pattern you’re registering for, if applicable!)

This contest closes at 11:59pm on Friday, April 9.  Winners will be announced the following Monday!

My daughter is getting married Saturday. Her pattern is Lenox Solitaire. I found an entire unused set for 8 plus serving bowls and platters for $150 at a consignment shop. Its sale was the result of a divorce. Their loss is definitley her gain.

  2. avatar Rachel Lambert reply

Even though I have little need for a nice set of china right now, I know one day I might want and/or need one, and I don’t want to buy a whole set myself later in life! I picked out an adorable pattern by Kate Spade called "Gardner Street Platinum".

  3. avatar Rebecca reply

I’m not sure if it is actually considered fine china since it is both dishwasher and microwave safe, but we chose an additional pattern to our everyday dishes. Its Cocoa Blossom Dinnerware by Mikasa, from Bed Bath and Beyond, and we loved the simple elegance, and that its dishwasher and microwave safe! I know my mom’s china is not and its such a hassle, especially because my dad and my fiancé both love their food hot. This makes it elegant but also so easy to work with, which is exactly why we decided on the set.

  4. avatar Elizabeth reply

yes yes yes! growing up, we always ate off my parent’s fine china and put it through the dishwasher so we could enjoy them! I plan on doing the same… picking out a pattern, now that is the hard part!

  5. avatar Amy reply

We are getting married in 32 short days. We decided not to register for china or even everyday plates. My parents had given me 12 beautiful place settings of scarlet red Fiesta Ware when I graduated from college, so we didn’t need new dishes. And one day I’ll be enjoying the beautiful patterned Royal Daulton china that once belonged to my grandmother. Who needs brand new when you can have gently used and loved that has been passed down through generations?!

  6. avatar Jessica reply

I am not registering for fine china because I am getting my grandmother’s china. I have admired it for as long as I can remember and I love that I am being gifted a family heirloom that I can also pass down one day too. Awesome give away, thanks ya’ll!

  7. avatar Megan reply

We have registered for the Lenox "Chirp" collection for our upcoming May wedding. I fell in LOVE with this china the moment my eyes gazed upon it in the store. I have a fascination with shades of blue (the dinner plates boast a gorgeous teal rim), and I also adore birds (graceful birds and branches decorate the salad plates and bowls). My fiance and I have both adopted a "seize the day" mentality in our lives. We want to dine on our china not only on special occasions like holiday dinners and birthdays, but also on our fun date nights at home where we bake a homemade lasagna together or order take-out from our favorite local spots.

  8. avatar Katie reply

I totally registered for Wedgwood Classic Vera Wang for my wedding! I never did receive the vases that I registered for, and would LOVE to have one of them… I chose a very simple, classic china pattern also by Wedgwood (Signet Platinum) and chose my crystal to match the tulip shape of the coffee/tea cup. Oh, how perfect it would be to have one of the vases to match my beautiful crystal & china patterns!!

  9. avatar joey reply

I am not registering for China.. just because there are a few other things the fiance and i need to get a little up on our priorities list, but hopefully in the future we will have a beautiful set just like you!

  10. avatar Emily reply

I did not register for fine china when I got married, though I would have loved to! I just knew there would be no safe, spacious or attractive way to store it in our tiny apartment. My mom and mother-in-law both assured me that they (at least) would be happy to gift some to me if I wanted to select a pattern a little later in life and start collecting a set. . .

  11. avatar Jessica reply

I definitely am registering for fine china- I cannot wait to entertain with it! I chose Kate Spade’s "Library Lane" with the Larabee dot accent plates.

  12. avatar Kristie reply

We are not registering for china for a very sentimental reason….we have a set from East Berlin that my parents purchased in the 80’s before the wall came down. My father was in the Army and stationed in Germany and we had a very memorable visit to East Berlin when I was in fifth grade – it was the weekend the wall came down! My parents never used the china, hoping to give the set to me when I had a family and a home of my own. It is full set for 12 which even includes a coffee service set. The style is vintage – white china lined in gray dotted with small florals along the edge. It may not be the style I would have choosen today, but I love it because of its history and moreso because I will always have something from my late mother.

I got married nearly three years ago, but I just had to respond to this post. We registered for our "fine china" through Crate & Barrel and we use it on a regular basis when we can. I’m not sure if it is actually fine china, but it’s our formal place settings as opposed to our every day white plates from Target. I registered for something that was simple and yet formal enough for guests. I’d link to the plates we registered for, but they canceled the collection halfway through our engagement. I highly recommend that every bride register for fine china – it becomes a wonderful heirloom to pass down to your children.

  14. avatar Megan reply

I love china! I think it is beautiful and lovely and I would love to entertain guests with it BUT I have not registered for a set of my own. My mother has a beautiful set that she inherited from my grandmother and I can probably count on one hand how many times it has been used in my lifetime. While one day I hope to inherit this set, I have a feeling I will be battling my sister for it but I still did not register for a set because there were many other things to register for that would get daily use in my home. Maybe one day, if my sister wins the battle for my grandmother’s china, I’ll be able to afford my own set that I can pass down to my children :)

  15. avatar Mary reply

I love fine china (Hello, Vera Flirt!), but I just don’t trust us with it. After I broke one of my nice crystal Riedel glasses, I cried. Yep, cried. And now, I won’t use the remaining three. I don’t want that to happen if we chip a dish or drop a plate… Also, as the lone granddaughter, I will one day inherit my grandmother’s china, which is gorgeous (and which I’ll be too terrified to use…hah.)

  16. avatar Sarah M reply

No china on a registry for me- I’ve had a lot of china passed down to me that family was barely used and saved "for a special occasion". It makes me sad that it wasn’t enjoyed so now I use it every day!

  17. avatar Brooke reply

We registered for the Wedgewood White bone china collection. We felt they were simplistic enough to everyday use but had the potential to be dressed up for entertaining. And shhh… don’t tell, but the REAL reason we picked that pattern was because the tea cup is just absolutely freakin’ adorable! ;)

  18. avatar Christina reply

I’m not even sure if what we registered counts as "fine china". We got two sets of dishes from Crate and Barrel – a basic set of white, everyday dishes as well as the Nuit collection. Fiance didn’t quite understand why we needed all that stuff, so this was as close as I could get to "fine china"! I definitely wanted something a bit nicer to present in front of guests though.

  19. avatar Kimberly reply

I am registering for fine china! My mom uses hers for any occasion the family gets together. I feel like you are not a true Southern Bride without fine china! Ha! I have narrowed down my China selection between Martha Stewart for Wedgewood Garland Moss and Royal Crown Derby Darley Abbey.

  20. avatar Kate reply

I am registering for fine china. After going back and forth, I decided to do it. We love to entertain, so I hope we’ll be using it all frequently instead of keeping it locked away for years.I was registered for Kate Spade June Lane, but recently changed my mind and registered for Vera Wang, Grossgrain pattern :)

  21. avatar Princess Christy reply

When I register, I definitely plan on registering for china. I want to have the "fancy" china to celebrate special events with my husband! And by special events, I mean Sundays… Fridays… any day that we get to sit down together and eat dinner!

  22. avatar Amanda reply

It took some convincing on my part for my handsome fiance to agree to putting formal dishes on our registry–we live in a storage-challenged way-too-small apartment right now (we’re graduate students in a city), but I reminded him that someday we will live in a bigger house, and we will have a bigger family…and what if we wanted to host Thanksgiving? or Easter dinner? or Christmas? He was convinced. We’re still deciding on a pattern, but I really like the Vera Wang/Wedgwood "Lace Gold" pattern, which is also dishwasher safe–bonus!

  23. avatar Ginger reply

We have decided to just register for casual china since I will be inheriting a few fine china sets!

  24. avatar Laura Diepenbrock reply

I am registering for china for the sole purpose that I’m marrying a Georgia boy. Well that and that I look forward to being able to pass down the china to my daughter!

  25. avatar JLT reply

We registered for china. We get married in June and we only have two place settings so far. But the way I see it is that it is something you can aquire over time. It will always remind me of this time in our life and I can’t wait for my future husband and me to eat dinner off of it… even if it is chicken nuggets ;) We registered for Noritake "Montvale Platinum". We love it because it is timeless and elegant!

  26. avatar Kelsey Keefe reply

Ack! I love wedgewood… I just have a view pieces, little pin dishes and the like. I’m not registered for anything quite yet, but when I get around to it…. oh, oh the glorious china I shall choose!I am with you for using wedgewood every day. It is too pretty to be allowed to gather dust!

  27. avatar Morgan reply

We registered for fine china and everyday china. Surprisingly we had a lot more trouble picking everyday china (we’re very particular about our cereal bowls y’all) and found our fine china in a snap. Our pattern is Riverside Park Platinum by Mikasa and I really love the fact that the salad plates and the dinner plates have a different border. Masculine enough for the boy but still pretty and classic.

  28. avatar Tina reply

I love this give away. My mother in law is a huge wedgewood fan and she has it displayed everywhere. I registered for the Lenox Opal Innocence and i love it. We dont eat off it except for special occasions but, i get the pleasure of looking at it everyday. I would love to have a wedgewood vase to look at everyday too :)

  29. avatar Britt reply

We decided to register for fine china and silverware. It is my fiance’s parents tradition to buy their kids the fine silver for a wedding gift. We decided to go for the Lenox Chirp collection. My parents actually lucked out and found some on ebay for a much cheaper price and we got half our set from them already! I can’t wait to use them!

  30. avatar Rachel reply

Growing up, my fondest memories were those made around the dinner table. Hearty laughter, sighs of delight upon tasting my mother’s delicious cooking and listening to long-winded stories about family members near and far are the crucial elements I remember from my parents’ numerous dinner parties and get togethers. Many times, those meals were served on my mother’s china. The food always looked dressed up on the china plates–kind of like it was dressing up for the event just as much as the guests. It’s my hope that I can continue this wonderful tradition of hosting memorable meals served on my very own china in my new married life.

  31. avatar carrie reply

I love fine china and am hoping to get a few lovely pieces as wedding gifts, but we have not specifically registered for it. We really needed every day place settings, as well as a slew of other stuff. Also, we live in a really small house and barely have any storage space.

  32. avatar Courtney reply

We’re registering for fine china because we love to entertain! We already host Thanksgiving dinner for the family, using our mismatched college dishes! And in order to have fine china, we had to pick out our own, because for several altogether sad reasons, the china I was supposed to inherit from my grandmother is gone for good. So we’re registered for Noritake’s "Crestwood Cobalt" pattern.

  33. avatar Danielle reply

I am going to register for fine china. I never thought I would but then it is just so pretty it is hard not to. However I dont think anyone will actually purchase fine china for me. It is more of just wishful thinking.

  34. avatar Tammy reply

We have registered for China! I remember when I was growing up how we would always eat on mommy’s "good plates" for the major holidays – Thanksgiving, Christmas, & Easter and how we would have all our relatives there. Those were wonderful memories and I want to keep the tradition alive (and luckily my finance had the same type of expierences when he was younger)! We love to entertain and can’t wait to host the holidays! We have registered for the Lenox Opal Innocence Collection – We get so excited whenever we receive a new piece!!

  35. avatar ShannonP reply

we registered for fine china and have yet to use it! i ended up with 28 place settings (whoa) but took 12 back. i still have high hopes of using it… maybe this week to celebrate our 6 month anniversary. maybe i’ll wait until we actually host a big holiday with all the family.

  36. avatar Julie reply

What an interesting subject! I thought way more people would be registering for their own pattern, but it seems that many women are in my boat. My fiance and I are not registering. We will inherit my grandmother’s china (Rutledge by Lenox) and silver. We’re short on space and happy to wait a long, long time!

  37. avatar Laura Toomey reply

We’re not registering for china because we’re getting my grandmother’s hand-me-downs, which hold a special place in my heart. These Wedgewood vases are gorgeous, what a great giveaway!

  38. avatar Chloe reply

We opted to not register for fine china. We’re not the type to have a formal meal, but I did find an amazing set of dishes at Marshall’s the other day that are perfectly southern and vintage. I switched our drinking glasses to mason jars to balance out the dainty look of the plates. So perfect!

  39. avatar Amanda reply

I’m not registering for fine china. We almost never used it in my house growing up and it takes up a ton of space. Plus I picked some beautiful, heavy white everyday dinnerware with big rims that I can dress up with pretty chargers.

  40. avatar Beth reply

I am registering for fine china because I think it is a no-brainer for any true Southern bride! I grew up loving my family’s fina china patterns, as well as friends’ families’ patterns as well. In addition, I am inheriting the Lenox Holiday Christmas china, so I plan to register for some pieces of the gold-rimmed Annieglass to spruce it up a bit and make it more modern. Fine china is essential for Southern gatherings and is such a great thing to pass down from generation to generation.

  41. avatar Melissa S reply

We’re registering for all white everyday dishes from Crate and Barrel, so we’ll get certain pieces of china that coordinate. We’re moving into an apartment, so we wont have space for a complete set of china and a set of everyday, but I want some nice pieces to dress things up. I also got a set of vintage english china from my great great aunt that I’ll have to use. The floral design is perfect for brunch!

  42. avatar Truculence reply

I definitely am! Although I’m not registered yet. But that’s the wedding task I’m most looking forward to.

  43. avatar Jessica reply

No one in both sides of our families has fine china but I hope to start the tradition of passing them down to our future kids :]

  44. avatar Kristin reply

I’m with you– I want to eat off our fine china on a regular basis! We’re planning to register for Noritake Ruby Coronet, which combines my love of red with his love of blue in a tasteful and elegant way. Plus, it’ll match the beautiful red wine glasses I got for a graduation gift!

  45. avatar Crystal Gulley reply

I am registering for Lenox Gilded Tapestry. To me it is The South and fall all rolled into one with a touch of snooty fancy shmancy party gleam!Tell me, who wouldn’t love that?!!

  46. avatar Amy reply

Definitely registering! We have been living together for a couple of years and already own most of the basic kitchen registry items because we cook a TON. We love to entertain and so we thought this was the perfect time to register for fine china! We love the Wedgwood Classic Vera Wang.

  47. avatar Robin reply

We’re not registering for china because we’re being given the gift of family heirloom china. I was scared it would be old fashion but I love how pretty it is. Also since my fiance only has a brother I’m (soon to be) the only girl in our generation of his family – I’ll make sure to pass it down to any daughters or daughters in law! :)

  48. avatar Elise reply

I absolutely registered for fine china. I actually chose the same pattern my mother has – Royal Crown Derby, Carlton Gold. To mix things up a bit, I chose a different pattern – Royal Crown Derby, Darley Abbey, for dessert plates. One day, I will inherit her collection to add to my own. Love tradition!

  49. avatar Erin B. reply

Absolutely! I love the idea of little bits of luxury on an everyday basis. Life is too short to store your favorite indulgences in a dusty box, only to be used on the rare occassion that a national diplomat drop by :) I’m registered for Ralph Lauren Silk Ribbon in Slate Blue – quintessential, understated beauty. Bon apetit!

  50. avatar Ashley reply

For our wedding in August, we definitely registered for china. We went with Kate Spade’s "Library Lane Platinum Collection." It’s a classic, sophisticated pattern that will stand the test of time while remaining versatile. I love the idea of using our china in the years to come and eventually passing it down to our children.

  51. avatar Amanda reply

I registered for fine china because of a deal my Mom and I made. The stipulations are: for our family Thanksgiving meal- I host the guests, and she cooks the food! While picking out my pattern I had a hard time choosing one (which is funny, because fine china isn’t exactly my forte) so I decided to mix ‘n match. We are registered for Lenox Pearl Platinum using Kate Spade Gardner Street accents.

  52. avatar KalaNoel reply

I am not registering for fine china because my grandmother is passing her china set down to me. The set she has was originally my great grandmother’s mother’s. I registered for the Mikasa French Countryside everday dishes. If I weren’t getting such beautiful antique china set, I would register for the Lenox Chirp china! It catches my eye everytime I go into the store!

  53. avatar Sylvia reply

Jason and I originally did register for fine china (Waterford – "Ballet Ribbon Gold"). However, my maternal grandmother surprised us and said she would like to pass on her fine china set (which she got from her mother!) to us. We were so honored by this gift that we immediately took the china off our registry – good thing no one had purchased any pieces yet!

  54. avatar Lexie reply

I am not registering for fine china, but only because my grandmother recently passed away and left me her wedding china. It is a classic, lovely simple pattern with a silver rim and decorative pattern in the middle, and very sentimental. I think of her and the great family meals we shared at her table every time I use it.

  55. avatar deanne reply

Ahh! One of the most difficult decisions during registering… We love to entertain and hope to have many family parties in the future, so we decided now is the time to get the china we want. We picked out a classic style by Lenox & a matching accent plate with polka dots by Kate Spade. I just can’t wait to use it!

  56. avatar Karen reply

I am not registering for china because my mother will be giving me hers from their wedding! I can’t wait to get it and to start a new tradition.

  57. avatar Adrienne reply

I had not originally planned on registering for china because I see my mom’s china sitting in the china cabinet and never being used. I figured it would be a waste of time, but the more I’ve been thinking about it and looking at dishes I’m beginning to think otherwise. It would be fun to serve dinner to my husband on our "nice" china at night and to be able to serve my friends on beautiful dishes that no one else would dare to use. So I obviously don’t have a favorite pattern…yet…because I’ve just come to the conclusion that maybe I should ask for china despite my years of negativity.

  58. avatar Liz reply

We will be registering for Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted Full Lace china. I grew up in a family that uses fine china and silver on a daily basis and will eventually mix my grandmother and mother’s china with our own. I think that sharing meals is one of the most amazing things about being a family and have been raised that the best way to do that was to serve family meals on a beautiful piece of china. Since china is so much stronger than most everyday dinnerware, I feel that it is a good investment to use beautiful, strong pieces everyday rather than replacing other pieces more often. I also love mixing and matching patterns when setting tables, so it never occurred to me that we might end up with too many china patterns!

  59. avatar Krystin reply

I’m still not sure if I will be registering for fine china. I think we will. My fiance thought it was a huge waste to ask people to buy us fancy china we won’t use often, especially since we really don’t have the space to store it. But it’s important! It’s the dishes we will be using for Thanksgiving and Christmas when we have kids and grandkids!

  60. avatar Julie reply

We are getting casual china that is beautiful but usable for everyday. We have beautiful china that I inherited from my family to use for special occasions.

  61. avatar Andrea S. reply

We’re definitely registered for special china! :) I chose a classic monogrammed design from pickard, but spiced it up a bit by choosing the bright green color! I’m going to use a pattern that Martha Stewart did for Wedgewood (can’t think of the name right now) as accent plates! Thanks for this great giveaway!

  62. avatar Kristina reply

We’re not registering for china because we’re inheriting my Great Grandmother’s "Desert Rose Franciscan Ware". As well as my fiance’s Grandmother’s silver. I love the idea of having something new from our wedding to pass on to my children and grandchildren. So we’re registering for two Monique Lhuillier crystal pieces. I know economic times are tough, so I’m not sure we will get them as a gift. I would love to have a piece of crystal!

  63. avatar hayley reply

We chose not to register for any china for our wedding. My grandma is an avid collector of anything and everything…..so really we didnt need to register for anything because she has it all :) But she has generously given us her vintage dishes that I have admired ever since I was young.

  64. avatar Adria reply

We are registering for china, but only for a two person place setting. Both of our parents have several sets a piece that we will be receiving, so the salesperson suggested we register for a two person set to use on special occasions.

  65. avatar Lindsey reply

We decided not to register for china, much to my dismay, as we’ll be moving from Virginia to Tennessee, starting grad school, and living in a small apartment right after we get married. If we were! registering for China it would be the gold June Lane Collection by Kate Spade, it is gorgeous!

  66. avatar Kelly reply

No, I did not register for fine china. I would love to receive my mother’s wedding china…it is so beautiful and exactly what I would register for anyway!

  67. avatar Amanda reply

Already registered! I never imagined that I would have wanted a formal dining room- or the china to go with it! But now that it has come time for me to build a home and start a family, I have found that I want those things more than anything. I cannot wait to host holidays with our families and to serve them on this beautiful china from Crate & Barrel: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=20&f=36032. Very elegant but eye-catching. My everyday dinnerware is plain white so I wanted something that would be a conversation starter!

  68. avatar Nicole reply

My FI and I are most likely not going to be registering for fine china. Our families generally use casual dinnerware for holidays because there are just so many of us! We will both be inheriting china sets as well, so it doesn’t make sense for us to register for them.

  69. avatar Leslie reply

Definitely regisering for fine china. I want to be able to pass my wedding china down to my kids. My parents didn’t register, so we have mixed and matched dishes.

  70. avatar Paula reply

I’m actually not registering for any china, because I know if I can’t afford it, I won’t make my guests buy it. Plus my fiance thinks there’s no point in keeping china on display and never using it. I agree and I secretly want some, but I was raised not to use china (my grandmother’s rule and she’s from the south) for any occasion. But who knows? If I acquire any, I just might use it. Vera Wang or Waterford china?! Yeah, I would definitely find some usage.

  71. avatar Courtney reply

We won’t be registering for china as I inherited a beautiful set from my grandmother – robbins egg blue and silver. Using her antique china will be far more special to me than anything new :)

  72. avatar Emily H. reply

I LOVE the Mikasa’s Panache wine glasses, martini glasses and champagne flutes. They’re square and very fun to drink out of! For my fine china, I love Royal Doulton’s Precious Platinum, but my fiance and I will not be registering for it because we plan on moving to Japan to be missionaries and things like that don’t do well on overseas moves. :(

  73. avatar Lauren reply

I am registering for fine china because I know that even if my hubby and I are living in a run-down apartment and eating ramen noodles on a Wednesday evening, it will definitely taste better on fine china! My pattern is Royal Crown Derby Carlton Gold.

  74. avatar Sheena reply

Definitely registered for china – the Lenox Solitaire. So simple and classic. I plan on incorporating my great grandmother’s china that she gave me. So special!

  75. avatar LeeLa reply

My mother is giving us one set of her fine china, which was passed to her when my grandmother passed away. Since we will have a set of fine china, my fiance and I did not register for fine china. We did however register for an everyday china from Crate and Barrel. We selected the Halo pattern. We felt it was a great clean pattern that will last through the years, but not to fancy to eat of off on a daily basis. I would love to add this Wedgewood vase designed by Vera Wang to our fine housewares.

  76. avatar Alison Z. reply

I wasn’t going to register for fine china at first — I really didn’t think we needed it with our casual lifestyle. But, the more I thought about it, the more I knew I’d long for a set of fine china once it came time for me to host a dinner party or have our family over for Thanksgiving. So, we decided to register for a set after all. We chose June Lane by Kate Spade … it’s so pretty and my fiance actually chose it!

  77. avatar Heather Johnson reply

Kate Spade’s Library Lane in navy. I am not registering china because I’m not getting married, but when I do, I think that will be the pattern.

  78. avatar Jen L. reply

I’m not regiestered for China–yet! We haven’t started any registries at this point in our planning, but if I find some I really really love, I’m doing it. However, I know I have particular taste. So if I don’t find the perfect set, it’s not the end of the world. It’ll be fun to find all the right pieces…eventually.

  79. avatar Lady May reply

We’re not registering for fine china. My fiance is all about his pots, pats, and knives (he is the cook after all). I really wanted to and I thought it’d be nice to have a set, but we really actually need the more practical stuff. I may end up buying two fancy sets just for us to have!

  80. avatar Carrie reply

I am not registering for china because I am being given two sets of it at my wedding in December 2010. Both sets of china belonged to women in my family who have passed away: one set was my great-grandmother’s and the other set was my mother’s. I am honored and excited to use their China and hope to pass it on someday.

  81. avatar Anne reply

I am registering for china because in my house growing up, we ate on our china at family dinner every night, regardless of how classless the dish was (sloppy joes, fried chicken). My pattern is herend chinese bouquet green and I fully intend on carrying on that tradition :)

  82. avatar Katie reply

I’m not registering for fine china because my mom and grandmother have sets that they have said will be passed down someday. I’m fine with my everyday set right now. It fits our daily casual lifestyle better anyway.

  83. avatar Jessica reply

We have registered for a set of dining china. I would like to have some sort of uniformity in my kitchen because the rest of the utensils and some of the cookware, appliances, and miscellaneous items in the kitchen will be a bit random. We are registered the “Staccato” dinnerware from Crate & Barrel – Not sure if it’s considered "fine china" or not… but I love it!

  84. avatar Deanna reply

We will not be registering for china. I would love to have it, but there are other things we need more. But if I could, I love the Wedgewood Jasper Conran Platinum Stripe Fine Bone China!

  85. avatar Anne reply

I inherited my grandmother’s china, which would go perfectly with the Wedgwood vase!

  86. avatar Lauren reply

We registered for Portmeirion Sophie Conran casual china from Macy’s. No one in our family uses fancy china even though they have it, and we’re pretty laid back so we’d rather have practical dishes we can use every day.

  87. avatar naazia reply

i actually didn’t register for fine china, not because i don’t love it (i do!) but because we’re going to be moving around a lot and living in apartments for the next few years so it didn’t seem like the most practical thing to do.

We are registering for china. Its important to us to have the same wonderfull holiday meals with beautiful china as I did when I was a child. It says your guests are special, when you serve them on elegant china.I am actually registering for Wedgewood china. The pattern we have selected is "Ballet Ribbon". It has elegance, whimsy and grace and will look fabulous on our table for many years to come.

We haven’t registered for china yet, but we will only register for a casual set as we both have china-loving grandparents to inherit from. So I am still looking for the perfect set of white dishes with textural detail…

  90. avatar Lauren reply

We are registering for the Lenox Chirp series. It is not overly formal and I love the beautiful bird. It reflects our style and our views of entertaining perfectly- we’re practical but appreciate beauty and fun!

  91. avatar Melanie reply

I am not registering for fine China. The reason is that my mom just revealed that she is giving me her mother’s rose bud china set – it is over 75 years old, and still has 12 full place settings.

  92. avatar Lauren reply

We will not be registering for fine china. We hardly ever eat together because of our work schedules so the chances that we’ll class it up and use fine china are very slim. Plus both our families have china that we’ll probably get sometime.

  93. avatar Liz reply

We are absolutely registering for china! When I was growing up, I always loved using the china on Thanksgiving and Christmas–in fact I loved it so much I insisted on using china for my birthday dinner too (which is the day after Christmas). Like you, my fiance and I are young apartment-dwellers, without much "real" use for china right now, but I fully intend to use it on random Tuesday evenings, just for kicks.

I still remember spending hours hand washing my mother’s beautiful crystal, china, and silver growing up. At the time I didn’t realize that not everyone got to use such works of art on a regular basis. My mother definitely instilled in me a love of beautiful things, so when it came time to register, a great deal of thought was put into the china. We decided on Vera Wang Wedgwood Dinnerware, in Lace Gold. There is something so elegant, vintage, and romantic about it. When I was picking it out, I couldn’t help but think, someday I hope I have a daughter I can teach to love beautiful things too.

A crystal vase designed by Vera Wang would be a gorgeous heirloom to pass down to my children! I registered for bone china, which is sturdy for everyday use but elegant enough for dinner parties. I chose a simple white pattern with rounded square edges. Once my love graduates from law school and gets a job, I’m looking into fine china!

  96. avatar Deborah reply

DEFINITELY registering for china because it is a Southern tradition here in Arkansas! Every holiday and special occasion my grandmother and mother pull out their linens and set out their china. It is one tradition that I look foward to adopting and passing down to my children. My pattern is Vera Wang Grosgrain because it is elegant yet simple, and it will be wonderful to mix and match with other colors of plates!

  97. avatar BK reply

We are registering for Royal Daulton Precious Platinum China. HE actually picked it out. We are registering for ching because that’s what grown up married kids do! ;oP

  98. avatar Dee York reply

yes..of course. If I didn’t I think my grandmother would roll over in her grave. I was brought up to be a southern lady and you must have good china when serving your guests! I love the Vera Wang Floral Leaf!

  99. avatar DeAnna reply

We are not registering for fine china. Quite simply, there are other things that we would prefer to get… like camping gear! However, I think these vases would look beautiful in the new home we just bought!

  100. avatar Stefanie reply

Yes I am registering for fine china! I want to be able to have dishes from our wedding, that I can break out on special occasions, or even everyday occassions.

  101. avatar Julie reply

We are not registering for fine china because I am inheriting 22 place settings of my mother’s and grandmother’s Lenox Tuxedo china! But we are registering for the Lenox Tin Can Alley casual china for something special for our everday lives.

  102. avatar Blair reply

I definitely registered for fine china! I love my pattern…I registered for Ginori platinum china with the platinum Annieglass dessert bowls as accents. My silver is Candlelight, passed down from my grandmother and mother, and it pairs so perfectly with the soft ivory Ginori and bright antique Annieglass!

  103. avatar Erika reply

I love Wedgewood! However, there is no way we could realistically register for fine china. The only way we can Honeymoon is by having a Honeymoon registry and keeping our fingers crossed that we get enough.

  104. avatar maria reply

all about the formal, especially opal innocence by lenox!

  105. avatar Carla Martinez reply

WOW! What an amazing giveaway. I am not registering for fine china because I am inheriting my grandmother’s china. I have admired it for as long as I can remember and I love that I am being gifted a family heirloom that I can also pass down one day too.

I’m getting married in July and I registered for formal china. I thought that I would fall in love with a wedgewood pattern, but I ended up loving a Mikasa pattern. It is called Shimmering Vine. It has a lovely delicate leaf pattern in platinum along the edges of the pieces. It is definately young and very "me" but is classic enough that I will still love it for years and years to come. Can’t wait to use it!

  107. avatar Bailey Greene reply

We registered for fine china. It just didn’t seem right NOT doing it! Ours was Mikasa Platinum Crown, and I just love it!

  108. avatar Randi Erin reply

We registered for china so that we could have nice dishes to use for sunday dinners, holidays and special occasions. We registered at Macy’s for the Wedgewood "Golden Bird" collection. I can’t wait to start getting some of the pieces in!!

  109. avatar Kristin reply

We are not registering for fine china because my fiance and myself are far to casual for us to use it on a daily basis. I do love Wedgwood quite a bit though, especially Jasperware!

  110. avatar Heather reply

I hope to inherit my family set of china. It is a gorgeous, classic pattern of white with a simple gold band. To make it more fun, we registered for the Allison Avenue accent plates by Kate Spade. The navy blue with gold dots really adds a beautiful touch to the traditional pattern.

  111. avatar Dawn R. reply

We are registering for china, because no Southern bride’s home would be complete without a set. It is the quinessential element to entertaining. We will be registering for the Wedgewood White set due to it’s simplicity for everyday use. We have inherited a set of family fine china that we will use when entertaining our families’ on special occasion. Thank you for the fabulous contest!

  112. avatar Priscilla reply

We are not registering for china. My mother still has absolutely gorgeous china, and has offered to let me borrow it any time I want. I think that will suffice for the time being.

  113. avatar Anna Kim reply

No, I am not registering for China. Looking forward to getting my mom’s China.

  114. avatar Joy reply

I’m not registering for fine china. Most graciously, my mother is giving us the china that I have loved for all of these years. It’s just beautiful and I am thrilled!

  115. avatar Allie H reply

We’re registering for nice every day dishes, but not fine china. We haven’t even picked it yet! He likes very simple, plain dishes and I want more decorative ones!

  116. avatar Liz reply

i would love to have a set like yours, such a classic pattern! unfortunately my fiance and i have a few things that are higher on the list of priorities for our registration. but maybe for an anniversary!

  117. avatar Magda reply

We’re not registering for fine china because we can’t find any we like. For the shape we want square, or round with lace, or octagonal, or scalloped. We also want bold colors. But we just can’t find a decent pattern. Can’t even find everyday service that we like, so we just use one of our grandma’s Depression era china and bland Ikea plates.

  118. avatar JD reply

We didn’t register for any China. We just registered for regular dinnerware. My parents had a set of china that gets used once a year… it seems like a waste to me. I’d love to have some nice vases though!

  119. avatar Mary reply

During my wedding planning process, I chose three different china patterns. Unfortunately, I have the worst luck ever and every single one of them retired during our engagement. I received a couple of pieces but ended up having to return them because I was unable to afford to complete the set. Now we have been married almost a year and we have no china! I would love to serve my guests on Wedgewood’s Pearl Strand Fine Bone China. It’s simple enough to go with my elaborate tablescapes and I think would be great at Christmas because one of the plate’s patterns looks like a snowflake.

  120. avatar Jessica Kane reply

I have not yet decided if I will be registering for China or not!

  121. avatar Meg reply

I’m planning on it, but haven’t registered yet!

  122. avatar Sarah reply

For Thanksgiving and Christmas’s during my younger years, my grandmother would take such pride in setting her table with her fine linens and china. I would spend all day that day polishing her silver flatware. It was something she loved and shared with me. She passed away this spring just as I got engaged. Registering for my china was a bittersweet moment, as I know it would have been something she would have been so happy to advise me on. I still haven’t decided on my pattern, but as I try to make my decision, I picture (and hope I am as blessed with) those same special moments with my grandchildren.

  123. avatar Natalie reply

My wedding date is July 3, 2010. We definitely registered for fine china, because I really want to set our new home up as a place for entertaining. We registered for Waterford ‘Lisette’ china pattern (it kind of goes fancy or casual) and we registered for ‘Duchesse’ crystal by Vera Wang for Wedgewood. I can’t wait to use it!

  124. avatar Kiersten reply

I am getting married May 8, 2010. 28 DAYS! I did not register for fine china, because my dream is to find a nice set at an antique auction. (A girl can dream, can’t she?) And I am absolutely OBSESSED with Wedgwood! I want it all!

  125. avatar Caroline reply

I will definitely register for Tobacco Leaf by Mottahedeh, even though I don’t know how often we will use it. I would love to have something to one day pass on to other generations, just like my mom and grandmother have done with us.

  126. avatar Rachel reply

We are not registering for fine china- we’d love to have some… but we’re doing a smaller wedding so will get a limited amount of guests. We would rather get everyday dining dishes.

  127. avatar Emily reply

We registered for Vera Wang Gilded Leaf china. We love the idea of using fancy china on a regular basis!
