My economic major significant other likes to remind me that all of life is about trade-offs. Here’s one for you: living in the South, it can be hard to get that true winter feeling (or, at least what this New Englander associates with winter!). There’s (often) no snow on the ground, and the temperatures are more likely to be in the mid 50s than the mid 30s. The flip side? It’s warm enough to actually enjoy outdoor activities! Here, 10 of our favorites, available regardless of the temperature. What’s yours?
1. Ice skating (a new rink just opened near us in Raleigh!)
2. Picking out a tree at a Christmas tree farm (remember Bailie and Chase’s wedding?)
3. Driving around at night to admire the neighborhood Christmas lights.
4. Caroling
5. Setting out luminarias on the longest night of the year
6. Visiting a public light display
7. Attending your city or town’s tree lighting event
8. Pretending that the white sand on the beach near your house is snow (okay, that one’s a little weak, we admit)
9. Making a sand angel if you live in Florida or a snow angel if you live in the mountains of North Carolina
10. Touring an outdoor nativity scene (a live one, if possible!
