You know, a partridge in a pear tree and all that. Since we have a penchant for southern-izing things around here (what, you haven’t noticed?) we thought we’d try our hand at the twelve days of Christmas this year. It’s going to be a bit looser than the traditional song, however, and we’re going to need your help.
Up first? 12 of the best southern Christmas songs. They are, in no particular order:
1. Rockin Around the Christmas Tree (Alabama)
2. White Christmas (Taylor Swift)
3. Run Run Rudolph (Lynrd Skynrd)
4. A Christmas to Remember (Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers)
5. Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (Elmo & Patsy)
6. Christmas in Dixie (Alabama)
7. Pretty Paper (Willie Nelson)
8. Silent Night (Bishop Elvin)
9. Louisana Christmas Day (Aaron Neville)
10. Hard Candy Christmas (Dolly Parton)
11. Sleigh Bells (Gene Autry)
12. Do You Hear What I Hear (Carrie Underwood)
Bonus! You can listen to our list (plus more!) here on Grooveshark.
Now tell us: what’s your favorite southern Christmas song? Or, if you don’t know any southern Christmas songs, how about your favorite all-purpose Christmas song?

Is Sleigh Bells the same as Sleigh Ride? Nothing puts me in the Christmas spirit like that classic song! Although Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree is also good…
I adore "O Come All Ye Faithful". Great opener, great closer – and perfect when little kids sing it with a smile!
Christmas in Dixie is by far the best! I live up north now but wherever I am, I have to listen to this song at Christmas time– makes me feel at home.
Rascal Flats, "Blue Christmas." No contest at all.
White Christmas (Bing Crosby) Ultimate Classic!
Tom Petty Its Christmas All Over Again is one of my faves by a good old Florida boy! and I cant get enough of Judy Garland Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas and Ella Fitzgerald Sleigh Ride.
It is a bit tongue in cheek (and a little redneck) but I LOVE "Merry Christmas from the Family" by Robert Earl Keen (a TX singer/songwriter). Oh, it reminds me of those huge family Christmases that were NOTHING like Paula Deen or Martha Stewart.
