Google+ Southern Wedding of the Week: Halli + Adam - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

We have such a treat for you today! Huge thanks to Josh Goleman for sharing this amazing wedding with us! (and big thanks to Caleb Chancey for introducing us to Josh’s work… ps- Caleb’s work is incredible and definitely worth checking out!)  The bride wore a custom dress by Chelsea Cook. The cake, from Back in the Day Bakery, was done by friends of the couple and the big day was catered by Johnny Baker. Another friend of the couple, Haylie Bird, did the foral arrangements. Thanks to friends and family, and a great wedding planner, Liz Demos, Halli + Adam were able to enjoy the wedding of their dreams. To see more of Halli + Adam, check out Josh Goleman’s Blog.

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. Adam and I met while I was working for the Savannah College of Art and Design in the metals and jewelry department. He was a senior in the department.
Describe the proposal: Adam and I wereout at his family’s farm in rural Pennsylvania brainstorming ideas we had for starting a jewelry company together. We needed a break so we decided to go for a walk around their cornfield. We got on the far side of the field and Adam got down on one knee.
Why do you love your husband? He is a super hard worker but knows when to quit.He is driven and knows what he wants. He also gives everyone a fair chance and doesn’t judge. AND he knows how to have fun.
The weather on our wedding day was: Hot during the day and a perfect summer night with a full moon.
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? My love of vintage circus and our southern bond.
Favorite design element of your big day: I can’t pick just one. I created this world in my head and I had an army of friends and family willing to help me create it.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I knew I would never find the dress I wanted in a store, but I did know my good girl friend Chelsea Cook’s designs were just what I was in the market for. I wanted to look like the girl on top of the elephant at the circus. That’s basically all the instruction I gave her and of course she made the perfect little number for me.
Describe your wedding flowers: I am not a flower person. I knew I didn’t want drama and romance.I wanted fun and happy. My best friend and roommate Haylie Waring took over the job and loved it. Her mother, aunt, sister and she spent countless hours researching and making them just what I wanted.
Describe your wedding cake: My dear friends Cheryl and Griff Day, who own the most magical bakery, Back in the Day, gave Adam and I our cake as a gift. I gave them total freedom because I wanted it to be a true piece of their creative heart. Of course it was perfect. A big surprise was the cake topper. Adam surprised me with one made by one of my favorite artists Jennifer Murphy! I had no idea.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: The amazing collaboration of creative friends and family we were able to use.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? I LOVE party planning. So it was a labor of love for me. Adam and I had to sacrifice being social at times to do work for the wedding. That is really tuff for us.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Adam and I both LOVE to party. Dancing and being with so many people we love from so many different parts of our lives was priceless.
Funniest moment? Tearing up the dance floor.
Hardest decision you made in planning? None really. We knew just what we wanted.
The most unexpected event on our wedding day was: Adams wedding cake topper surprise.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Utilize creative people in your life.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? Adam and I are living the life in our tiny house nest in Philadelphia. In the next year we are looking to start a jewelry company together.
Any DIY items? If you have the heart for it do as much as you can yourself!! People will see and feel the difference.

Congratulations Halli + Adam! Good luck in all of life’s adventures!

Looks like such a good time. What a great way to take a theme and take it all they way! I think more couples should be working to personalize and claim the look, feel, moments and memories of their wedding celebration. Great feature :)
