Google+ Southern Wedding of the Week: Catherine + David, part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

Catherine + David’s outdoor reception was so fun and purely Southern! {Strouds Barneque} catered the event and the wedding cake was from {Sweet-N-Sassy Bakery}. To see more of Catherine + David, check out Lauren Harris’ {Blog}.  How lovely are these colors!?  Happy Friday, y’all!

Describe your wedding cake: As far as the taste….yummy! We served traditional wedding cake with butter cream icing. I wanted to incorporate my wedding colors, so I used yellow icing and white designs that were made to look like lace imprints. On the top tier, I had our monogram “DNC”.We had our monogram on the invitations and programs as well.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: I used mason jars as vases filled with yellow gerbera daisies which were a very simple centerpiece that tied into our Southern wedding.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Working with my budget! I am glad I had seven months to plan, because it allowed me to find the best deals in town.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? When I saw David’s face as I walked down the aisle. It was the most adorable thing. You could tell his breath was taken away. That’s exactly the reaction I was going for!
Scariest moment? I was not scared at all.It was a very laid back day for me.
Funniest moment? I had three flower girls pulling an antique wagon filled with yellow flower petals. They made it 10 feet down the aisle. All I could hear over the music was, “We ran out of petals!” So, they just pulled the flowerless wagon the rest of the way.
Hardest decision you made in planning? Whether or not to chance the rain and have an outdoor wedding. I am so glad I took the chance though!
The most unexpected event on our wedding day was: My wait staff didn’t show up, so I had some of my guests and David’s groomsmen setting up tables.Thank God for good friends.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Beautiful, surreal, and passionate.
Did you write your own vows? If so, what was your favorite phrase/verse/or line? Yes, we decided to write our own vows.I should reword that.It was David’s idea to write our vows. I was nervous about it, because he is a songwriter! At first I thought it was a little unfair, but after giving it a lot of thought, the words came easy.My favorite part of David’s vows were when he told me that he didn’t know if he would ever find someone who could love him as much as his momma could, but then he found me.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Enjoy it….it goes by way too fast. Also, try to stay on top of thank you notes.Get as many finished before the honeymoon as possible.
Best advice or most memorable comment someone made to you during the wedding celebration. All my friends told me to not let the day go by so fast. They told me to sit back and be observant and take it all in. That’s exactly what I did and I am thankful that I remember everything from that day.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? We are currently working hard to promote David’s new single and his album coming out in August. If things keep continuing on the road they’re on, he will hopefully be on a tour soon. It’s exciting to witness his dreams coming true! I have to say mine already came true by marrying him.

Congratulations Catherine + David! We wish you both success in your future!

Beautiful wedding, love the yellow theme – the cake and flowers look great. Looks like it would have been a fun wedding to photograph.
