Every now and then we have the opportunity to share with you a wedding that we can’t get enough of and that happens to take place in another country.  This wedding comes to us from {Jonas Peterson} a wedding photographer from Brisbane, Australia.  He captured this amazing wedding of Brea + Tom at the {Waverley Estates}.  We loved Brea {Collette Dinnigan} wedding dress that was Greek goddess style with the side strap and the beautiful detailing.  The bridesmaids also looked stunning in their gowns from {Hills in Hollywood}.  Other amazing aspects of this wedding included the dessert/wedding cake.  Brea + Tom chose a cup cake tower with a top layer of cake adorned with fresh white flowers.  So cute!  All the flower arrangements and bouquets were by {Greenleaf Flowers}.  To see more from this beautiful wedding, click over to Jonas’ {Blog}.

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story: We met through my brother Matt. Tom had met Matt in London and on Tom’s return to Australia we met up at a party.
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? I didn’t really have a theme as such. I compiled a scrapbook, cutting out various images from wedding magazines that I liked. I wanted to have something that was classic, elegant and understated.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: Three of my four bridesmaids live interstate and they surprised me by coming over to Melbourne the weekend I was going wedding dress shopping. It took me a day to find it, it was the first store (Collette Dinnigan) I went to and I loved it straight away. We spent the rest of the day looking around but we ended up coming back to the first store and buying it. I got it off the rack too so it made it a lot easier – no fittings!!
Describe your wedding flowers: Originally I wanted all white flowers but Tom wanted a bit more color so we went with purple on the guests tables and white on ours. I saw a photo in an American magazine of several bunches of different flowers in the same color and really liked the look so went with that. We had Hyacinths, Freesias and Lisyanthus. I really wanted Hydrangeas as they are my favorite flower but because there was a lot of hot weather leading up to the wedding the season finished early. I did manage to have some in my bouquet and on the cake arrangement though!
Describe your wedding cake: Lots of little cupcakes with a small cake on the top tier: vanilla, vanilla chocolate chip and vanilla raspberry. They were decorated with white butter icing and silver baubles. The top cake had a flower arrangement.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: That it was a relaxed celebration and all of our friends had a great time. We rented the property for the weekend so we didn’t have to leave at midnight so it had a real party atmosphere and people could leave whenever they wanted, the last people left at 4.30 A.M.! Our favorite part of the day was drinks on the lawn, which were immediately after the reception, it was a great chance for everyone to catch-up before the formalities began and it was a lovely sunny afternoon. Oh and the food – it was superb!!
Three adjectives that describe the day are: I can’t stick to three – memorable, inclusive, romantic, fun.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? I’m a very organized person and I’m also quite decisive so it was quite an easy experience – maybe don’t get too hung up on everything and go with your gut.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? We’ve recently moved into our first home so we’re enjoying settling into that.
Any DIY items? Tom did all of the music with two of his mates and lots of people commented on how good it was. Tom’s brother in law, Marc, also made our table seating arrangement chart (silver photo frames). Again, I saw this in a wedding magazine and loved the look.

Congratulations to Brea + Tom.  We wish you the best of times in your first home!

What a great detail shot…for some reason, the earthy decor made of sticks and branches and leaves etc. is the new "IT" thing at the moment, I like it when applied with direction…in this case it reminds me of a little tinkerbell house or something…very cool :)

This wedding photographed by the amazing {Luna Photo} has style, glamour and fun!  Take a look at the beautiful Alison.  This girl glamed it up with ideas from old Hollywood, playing up a retro vibe and googling mainstream celebrities to see what was hot.  She purchased her incredible dress from {M Bridal} and we’ve got to say what beautiful detailing!  The bridesmaids wore gowns from {Bella Bridesmaid}.  This fabulous wedding all took place at the {Manchester Grand Hyatt}.  Taking care of the amazing flowers was {Adorations}.  The wedding cake was baked by {Just Fabulous}.  {What an awesome name!} This wedding was planned by {Mint Weddings}.  They did a terrific job bringing Alison + David’s visions to life.  To see more shots make sure to check out Luna Photo’s {Blog} for more!

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story: We met through friends, but I like to joke and say that I picked him up hitchhiking. We don’t know the exact when and where and how. We think that we met at a chili cook off, but we aren’t too sure. I was still in college at Cal Poly, and he had already graduated from Calvin College in Michigan. He was living in Visalia, CA working as a civil engineer. My Mom’s family is from Visalia so on holiday’s I would come to Visalia to celebrate with family. Dave’s high school friends were my college friends, so somehow we met.
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? I wanted a slightly retro feel. I love classic Hollywood glamour. I am a huge Marilyn Monroe fan.
Favorite design element of your big day: Naturally the black on my dress, or the flowers with the feathers and crystals.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I found my wedding dress at M Bride in La Jolla, Michelle was a huge help. My sister had found her dress at M Bride the year before, so Michelle knew me and my personality. She pulled this dress out for me and it fit my body perfectly. The dress originally had light pink on the train. I am not a light pink kind of girl. She suggested black and instantly I fell in love. I knew at that moment that this was my dress. It was the third one I tried on.
Describe your wedding flowers: For the ceremony, all of the flowers were white up at the alter. Myself as well as the bridesmaids had very colorful dark red bouquets with roses and calalilies and feathers, mine had crystals as well. Red rose petals were alongside the brocade runner. We also had trees set around the ceremony site as sort of a wind break or barrier to not let the public up close to the ceremony ( I can’t remember the name of those trees, I know they had big leaves, I want to say palm but I know that isn’t right). The reception had tables with high and low arrangements, they were all in deep reds, almost black again with the feathers (LaVonne would be better at describing the flowers).
Describe your wedding cake: Our wedding cake was also amazing. We had our engagement pictures screen printed on the frosting in black and white with red sugar roses on the top of the cake. It was a round tiered cake. The flavors were carrot and chocolate.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Probably the white doves released at the ceremony and my 12 year old cousin trying to catch a lazy dove that didn’t want to fly away. Or the photo booth. We loved to see all of the pictures when we got back from our honeymoon.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Amazing, Perfect, A Dream ( the best day of my life so far)!
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Plan for everything, think of the guests and try to make them comfortable, especially if it’s a destination wedding. Make it reflect who you are as a person
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? How do you answer this? We would like to start a family sometime in the future. Honestly we look forward to everyday, because everyday with each other is a blessing, we enjoy each other’s company. He is my best friend.
Any DIY items? The favors: Tiffany blue boxes with a fortune cookie inside, Dave proposed with a fortune cookie, tied with red ribbon
Favorite inspirational blogs or sites: For hairstyles I googled stars like Marilyn Monroe, Gwen Stefani and Jessica Simpson. I thought it better than using the wedding websites.

Congratulations to Alison and David! We wish you many marvelous days to come!

One of my favorite events that I hosted was our first birthday party at our new home. I cooked, decorated and entertained our guests as we celebrated my husband’s birthday. All of our friends came and really enjoyed the food I cooked, company and good wine. We all had a blast! I love to cook and entertain our guests so I would really love the aprons! They are gorgeous and I would be in style!

The most recent event that I loved hosting, was my fiance’s birthday brunch at our apartment, with friends and family. He loves southern food, so I spent all night and the following morning preparing the spread. I was exhausted afterwards, but it was all worth it.

I love hosting dinner parties. Part of the excitement is running around getting the menu picked and how the logistics will work. Have been carless in DC for five years so grocery shopping is always an adventure. But then the best part is sitting around the table positively stuffed, drinking wine and laughing with good friends or getting to know new ones.

  5. avatar Jami reply

My favorite event so far has been when my fiance and I moved back to New England. Hosting our first Thanksgiving let us show our parents that we were "all grown up". We were happy to finally entertain the people closest to us.

I did hair and make up for my boss’s daughter’s bat-mitzvah. It was held at the Ritz in Washington, DC and was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. I’m from sweet home Alabama and had never been to something so formal and so fancy in my entire life! I almost decided to switch professions and become an event coordinator. It was amazing and something I’ll never forget.

The best party I have ever hosted would be a fish fry with my family. My grandpa is a serious fisherman, and his freezer is always full of fish. So one day we decided to have a big fish fry. My grandmother and I made hushpuppies, macaroni and cheese and a bunch of other comfort food. It was a great way to get the family together, and to get rid of all that fish!

I just helped host a graduation open house for my younger brother. We hosted 120 people at my home and since I had planned everything ahead of time, it was all very simple and stress-free. My brother could socialize with all his guests – he grew up with some severe disabilities and has had a rough year, so it was such a pleasure to see him taking on that adult role with hospitality and grace. The sun was shining and the country breeze was blowing through all the open windows – a perfect day!

  9. avatar Carissa reply

The most special events hands down were the “coffee table parties” that my grandmother and I held when I was little. On a Friday or Saturday night, my parents would drop my sister and I off at my grandparents and we would get to host parties at the coffee table for my grandpa. We would slice cheeses and hot dogs and arrange them in shapes on trays. We would drape blankets over the coffee table and bring in flowers from her garden for décor. My grandmother even let us turn out all the lights and light candles. ( I’m sure my poor Grandpa LOVED all the candle light while trying to watch his football! Ha!) Though the parties I throw these days are quite a bit different, I truly believe that my love for hosting and planning parties grew from those small coffee table parties. Such good memories!

My favorite event is my huge family’s 4th of July get together filled with lots of food and lots of fun! Unless there is another big event (like a wedding or graduation) its the only time we all get to see eachother.

I loved hosting our lasted housewarming! It was such a great feeling to know that this "house/apt" was my home, the place that I am going to start my life with my future husband. It’s the first time I’ll get to live with a boy (ooo), the first time for so many things! It was def such an awesome precursor to the best event I will have planned – my wedding! yay

This is such a cute giveaway . . . I love aprons!!! I actually wear my current one all the time. My favorite event has always been Christmas Eve Dinner at my parents house. Amazing food, good friends, and so much fun. We like to call it the misfit chrismas because anyone who doesn’t have a place to go is always invited over. It is just such a wonderful time!!!

I hosted Christmas dinner for my Daddy’s family at my place. My favorite part was just seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces as they enjoyed the food and desserts. It really was such a great time!

My most favorite event to host was a Christmas Cocktail Shower for one of my best friends. We decorated the home where we held the shower with all of her gifts, including monogrammed stockings on the fireplace and a holiday wreath on the front door. This way she was able to see what her new home would look like at Christmas time. It was so much fun planning the menu and being able to serve hot chocolate and apple cider, and all things festive to eat!

As a child, I loved my grandma’s bridge parties! Gigi is such a great old-fashioned hostess – she brings out the china and silver, bakes up a storm, serves sweet tea and cucumber sandwiches and wears pretty dresses with pearls. Even at 80, she still hosts a monthly bridge game, and I’d love to give her a stylish apron to wear in the kitchen.

  17. avatar Cortney reply

My favorite parties to host are fondue parties with friends… it’s a great way to spend the evening with friends while having good food and conversation–the food is entertainment alone! But as for events that I enjoy attending… I love having family dinner at my grandmother’s house. For all of my life we have had Sunday afternoon dinner at her house, no matter how big the family is or how old we are, Grandma always makes a wonderful meal for us to enjoy together.(obviously I love events centered around food… how perfect for an apron giveaway!)

The party that I will always, always remember was about 20 years ago at a family reunion in the Outer Banks of NC. I was only about five, but my little sister was still a babe in arms, and I remember my father carrying her around in his big muscular arms. I can remember being appalled at my cousins’ table manners and thinking that the mac n cheese casserole was delicious. I had my first hula hoop contest. We did all kinds of family reunion type games, and we ate all kinds of delicious, beachy, Southern food. That was one of the last family gatherings while my father was alive, so it was special for all kinds of reasons. I hope to take my own kids to family reunions that are that fun one day.

My favorite event was the latest bachelorette party that I attended. It was good times with good friends! Nothing can beat that :)

  20. avatar Robin reply

My favorite party to attend/host was the night before Easter when we dyed Easter eggs. It started at my mother’s dining room table covered in newspapers with the colored dye in mismatched coffee cups. Even when I was in college my older brothers and I would come home to dye eggs and spend the night. When I moved across the country and couldn’t fly home for Easter, I began the tradition among my friends. Now several of my friends come over. We open a bottle of wine or two, turn on some tunes, and have a GREAT time! Many of my friends hadn’t dyed eggs for 15 years! It really brings the kid out in everyone. To bring it home to my roots, I always make a Texas flag egg. I use the clear wax crayon to draw a star on one half and dip it in blue dye. Then I use the crayon to color in the top quarter of the egg and dip that half in red dye. When it is all said and done, it looks like the Texas flag. Yeah, I’m a big dork.

Growing up my parents would host Sunday night dinner parties at their house once a month. I really enjoyed these because my mom definitely had the 1950s housewife look. My father did most of the cooking but she always looked perfect in her apron as she served dessert.

My favorite event happened this past weekend — my brother just got married to a wonderful girl. At the beginning of the ceremony the minister talked about how this wedding wasn’t only about the joining of two people, but the joining of two families. This was so true. During their relaitonship, our families have become friends — real friends, and this was very evident to everyone at the wedding. It was truly one of the happiest days and everyone was happy for different reasons. I was happy to be gaining a sister, a real sister that I love. I just hope that at my wedding in 4 months, two more families can truly join. Just like my Dad says, "I’m not giving anything away at my daughters wedding, I’m gaining so much!"

My girlfriend is the hostess with the mostest, as for aprons she has a stylish Asian silk apron and when she wears it in her kitchen with her cat eye glasses she looks fabulous. She throws theme parties and my favorite was her "ginger party". She made a four layer ginger cake that used several lbs of ginger in the cake, the creme, the crust, I have to admit I do not know how she does it, but it is always delicious. Her parties are my, and many peoples, favorites.

My favorite event that I have hosted so far was my college graduation party. (It’s been a few years now!) It was a chance for me to celebrate a great achievement with people on all sides of my family that I hadn’t seen in ages. It was also a great moment for relatives from different branches of the family tree to reconnect after not having seen each other for many years. I have some treasured photos of family members deep in conversation or laughing outrageously with each other. These aprons are adorable! Thank you so much for the contest!

I’d have to say I had the most fun planning my graduation party a few years ago b/c it was themed and really complicated but I think I will never forget the first time I hosted a dinner party and made all these goodies and cleaned the house and lit candles and wowed my mom with my home-ec-y skills :)

My favorite event was Sunday night dinners in college. We had a group of 8 friends and each of us would take turns cooking each week. We all had our favorite reciepes in a box and who ever’s turn it was to cook had to pull a reciepe at random. It was alot of fun to see our favorite meals get a new twist by our best friends and it was a great opprutunity to spend time together outside of class!

My favorite event that I attended/hosted has to be last Thanksgiving. My fiance’s family and my family both travelled up to my fiance and I’s home for a Thanksgiving meal that I helped to prepared (along with the help of my mom and future MIL…thank goodness!!) It was so great to see the positive interaction between the two families and I am so thankful that I don’t have to worry about the drama of in-laws. I look forward to many other family holidays together!

the most favorite event that ive hosted was my "palm beach pink" birthday party last year! it was great, everyone wore pink and green, there were tons of flamingos, lots of sparkles in pink and green, pink and green "passion for fashion" cocktails, and the gift bags were my favorite: blow up flamingo coasters that floated, pink and green martini glasses with matching jelly beans, and flamingo pens! so cute!

Getting my family all together in one place is kind of like wrestling with squirrels… wildly entertaining to watch but not very easy to do.So my favorite Soiree has to be the last family reunion I arranged for the Cummings clan. It was 55 strong at a small private resort in Anna Maria Island, where I surprised everyone on the last day by hiring a DJ to play poolside, had leis for each person as they arrived and tables covered with tikis, miniature wood palm trees and margarita filled coconuts with umbrellas. We danced all night to regge and the sound of the beach, ate fresh-grilled food and shared stories and laughs long overdue. That night many noise ordinances were broken, but my family was healed.

My favorite event was an event that I hosted for my friends at my house. I called it Friendnite after a fundraiser that my nonprofit had just hosted. All of my friends bought tickets and supported the event, so in exchange and to thank them I hosted a get together.I mailed out invitations about three weeks in advance that invited them to my home. No children, ducks, birds, horses, husbands, etc. (I actually put that on the invitation). They were instructed to buy one gift that they would like to have and it had to be wrapped–no bags! When they arrived, I had drinks and "make your own pizza" with plenty of ordinary and bizarre toppings. As they came in they had to write on a huge post-it one piece of advice that they’d give to another person. They were funny and cute. Each time someone went outside they were faced with the advice. We socialized and talked througout the night and as it was winding down, I had each person unwrap and take home the gift that they brought. (So often we forget about ourselves.) It was a GREAT night.

My father and I are born within 5 days of each other (30 years apart) so the month of August has always been a very celebratory time in my family. My parents decided that for my 14th birthday and my father’s 44th that we would visit my godparents and their children who had moved to Rome. We rented a little villa in Lecce, in the region of Apulia for two weeks during a rash of Mad Cow Disease in Europe. At the time, I ate no seafood, which posed quite a problem. When my birthday came around, my parents found the only restaurant in the region still serving beef, but we had to promise we wouldn’t linger. As guests at any birthday should, we drank and ate more slowly than the restaurant hoped we would, and suddenly we found ourselves as uninvited guests at a very large Southern Italian wedding! My father asked the DJ to lead everyone in a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" even though no one in the room knew who I was, and the generators which were powering the restaurant kept shutting off periodically. I caught the bride weeping in the bathroom, and to top of the night, our youngest guest had too much rum cake and stripped naked in the center of the dance floor! At the night I was mortified to have such an outrageous family, but it was the most memorable event I’ve ever attended.

My favorite events are the cookouts and birthday parties that my FI’s family hosts! It’s formal, at all, but the food and conversation are some of the best around!

When I read this post and saw the adorable aprons, I instantly thought of the adorable yellow apron my grandmother always wore when she’d cook for our family growing up, and one particular annual event comes to mind. Every Christmas, my grandmother would host a special "Just us Girls" Christmas exchange. She, my mom, my aunt and I would have our very own Christmas exchange a few days before Christmas. We’d each buy small gifts for one another and my grandmother would make the most wonderful Christmas cookies and other dainty desserts for us to enjoy during our cozy afternoon affair. I can still see her standing in the kitchen arranging the most amazing dessert platters in her yellow apron filled with flowers in a rainbow of colors. If I happen to win this contest, I’ll be sure to tell my grandmother!

My favorite event that I hosted was my sister’s baby shower. It had a "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" theme. I planned everything well in advance and I made moon and star die cuts which I taped on the table linnens, doors, and walls. I made the invitations I myself and we had a lot of games with very nice prices everyone had a lot of fun and really enjoyed themselves.

I love planning parties. Being creative with the invites, decor and food and seeing everyone’s smiling faces! My fav party I’ve thrown was a Luau Shower for my bestfriend’s wedding. We used a kids baby-pool that had a small slide and palm tree as our serving dishes. We had the event by the pool with tiki-torches lit. One of them caught the plants on fire and someone ran over to the ice bucket and dumped it on it to put it out! We had such a great time and laughed at ourselves in 911 mode!

My favorite that I’ve attended was my recent bridal shower at an over-the-top girly tea house. My favorite that I hosted is the baby shower that I threw for one of my bridesmaids. She was so happy and it was a great trial-run for some projects we’re doing for our wedding.

My favorite event that I have hosted was a graduation party for a young lady that I mentored through out her high school years. She was a girl that had every odd stacked against her…no father, no mother who cared and family members who were anxious to get her out of the house because she was a burden to them financially. I was able to host a graduation party for her with friends, family and community members that wished her well as she went off to college. It was a joyous celebration and the saying really is true it takes a village to raise a child!

I hosted Thanksgiving dinner for the man that- little did I know at the time- would become my husband. I had only been on one other date with Matt before I invited him to my dinner. I made the turkey and all the trimmings, he made sugar coated pecans, and one bite of those and I fell in love! We married this past April, and we gave those sugar coated pecans (and the yummy recipe) away as our favors. It’s the event that I’ll always remember sparked the best romance of my life.

I have two favorite events that I have hosted. This past Thanksgiving I was unable to make it home for the first time – so my parents and younger brother came to me! After researching the menu for a few days I cooked my very first Thanksgiving Dinner – and loved every second of it! My mom even asked me for the recipes. More recently I hosted my family and my boyfriend’s family the weekend he graduated from graduate school. Our families were meeting for the first time. I sent DIY invitations, made plans for two dinners and brunch (it was also mother’s day weekend) at our favorite area restaurants, and hosted lunch at my apartment. Our families got along perfectly and everything went off without a hitch!

My favorite event was the dinner party I hosted for my parents and my then boyfriend’s parents. They were meeting for the first time and I was super nervous about it. I helped throw a surprise party recently for a friend turning 30. Inspired by Amy Atlas’s incredible dessert displays, we orchestrated a very classy "black and white" dessert bar full of yummy homemade things. We were also faced with the task of transforming our church’s youth room (the guest of honor was the youth pastor’s wife) into a chic lounge space for the party. My two friends and I moved ugly old couches, vending machines, and music equipment out, and moved in bistro tables and hanging paper lanterns, decking the space out in white and black linens with touches of bright blue and green. We got so many compliments on our quick transformation of the space and had so much fun doing it we considered going into event planning full time!

We just hosted a Bachlorette party for a very dear friend. It was angels and devils themed (bride was the angel), with a homemade cake and some amazing drinks (we named them…horny devil and angel dust). The best part about all the planning and creating was the fun we had, smiles on faces and the priceless pictures that show everyones joy! I love the energy and happiness throwing events brings to everyone.

Thanksgiving!! Of course, it is traditionally a family event. And we always invite others who are away from their own families on that day. It is a day of parades, football, happiness and eating… most famously my "world-renowned" Snack Table. If one requires breakfast, it is every-man-for-himself. But the snack table opens at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 2:00 p.m. I enjoy making the tablescape a bit different each year. There is a wide variety of goodies, both sweet and savory, with something new each year. Grazing is encouraged and children are allowed free access. Traditional Southern Thanksgiving dinner is served at 4:30. It seems that the left-overs are barely put away before the conversation turns to plans for next year’s Snack Table!

My fiance and I love entertaining and hosting impromptu get togethers at our apartment. My favorite hosted event so far would have to be the 2007 Superbowl. Our apartment is in downtown Boston and the New England Patriots had a impeccable record… we didn’t even think about them loosing the game. We decided to have everyone over to celebrate their flawless season. I made four different types of grilled pizzas, nachos and chilli, and we had the table set up like a bar with a variety of juices and mixers. The night was such a success because everyone really made themselves at home and even though the patriots didn’t win, we went to bed happy to have a new tradition and such great friends.

My favorite events is Christmas gathering with old friends. Nothing is better… we can spend 12 months without speaking because of life, but when gathering again it is like we have not missed a minute. Thanks to the love of friends, there is nothing like it! My favorite event that I attended was my engagement party. My parents hosted it at their home, and my mother is the perfect example of a glamorous hostess. It was a champagne and dessert party, and my mother used all of her good silver service that has been in our family for years. She even served wine and champagne from the same region in Italy where my fiance proposed! She is truely an inspiration, and I can only hope to someday be as lovely as a hostess as she is!

My favorite has to be my best friend’s housewarming party. Having our special group of friends there at a time in our lives where we were all just beginning to be grownups with house-buying, marriage, kids…we took a moment to recognize how far we had come as friends and where we all were about to go. We toasted to our friendship and our future and laughed well into the night.

I love doing dinner parties but haven’t had the chance since moving to my new town. I will soon have the space in my new house to do this more often. A cool apron would be wonderful while giving the dinner parties.

My favorite parties to host are the wine and game nights! Being in college still ( 6 year plan ha), I tend to run out of money and can’t afford to go to the bars every weekend so my old roommates and I came up with wine and game nights. Everyone brings a bottle of wine and we pick out a game beforehand, like Monopoly, and usually play for a couple of hours! It’s really a great time because it’s more intimate and cheaper than going out but it’s so funny to see everyone really get into the game and see the competitiveness in people really come out! The aprons would be PERFECT- I’ve always wanted a really cute and dainty one- because I love playing hostess with my fiance and having people over and what a cute way to acessorize!!

Ever since I could stand on my own, I have gone to my grandmother’s house the night before Thanksgiving to help her prepare for the big day. It started out with the simple chore of tearing up loaf after loaf of bread for stuffing, but, now that I’m in my late 20s and Grandma is getting older, we’ve taken on most of the cooking ourselves. The best feeling came a couple of years ago when I realized I knew all the recipes by heart. I know she has confidence in me to carry on our family’s traditional Thanksgiving dinner when she’s gone, and to pass the traditions onto the next generation of cooks.

One of my most favorite events that I recently hosted was a Halloween Hors d’ouerves and Spirits cocktail party. I sent out real, old-fashioned invitations with a retro vibe to 45 friends. Guests were instructed to wear black and orange cocktail attire and it was fantastic! From little black cocktail dresses to full out orange men’s suits to my friend’s retro skinny tie and orange oxford shirt, everyone’s attire was fantastic! I decorated with a cobweb table runner, black toile, orange flowers, lots of tea lights, mini white and orange pumpkins, jack o’ lanterns and tons of orange and black balloons. The food was a mix of classic cocktail appetizers with modern Halloween themed cocktails and delicious pumpkin beer. My favorite memory of the night were the "party pics" I took of all attendees and our after-party at the Capitol Hill dive bar near our house!

My fella and I have a little window in an interior wall of our apartment, between the bedroom and the living room. NO idea why the builders put it there. For my birthday a few years ago we decided to make use of it for puppet shows. We hauled out all my fabric scraps, old socks, ribbons, buttons and beads and had our friends over for a (beautifully messy) puppet-making party, which culminated in my best friend coordinating an all-puppet version of the Buffy musical staged in the puppet window. It was a great day which could only have been improved by one of these gorgeous aprons to keep the hot glue off my birthday shirt (hint hint).

The most important event that I have hosted would have to be last year’s Thanksgiving dinner. I am not a fantastic cook by nature, but I purchased a copy of Martha’s "Season’s Eatings" guide and planned on following it to a T. My mom and future mother-in-law are both great cooks. My fiance, my dad, and my future father-in-law are huge foodies. Because of all this, it was very important to me that this meal turn out to be yummy. The best part was that my mom took off work the day before to come over and hang out with me and be my "sous chef". It is probably my most favorite day that I’ve ever spent with my mom, and I hope to do the same next year and and the year after and so on. If I won the two aprons, one would be for me, and one would be for my mom because if we are going to be covered in flour and sugar, we might as well look delicious! :)

Prior to our guest arriving, I prepared a feast of elegant yet appropriate appetizers for our friends to enjoy: My "White Trash" 7 Layer Dip, gourmet Pigs ‘N A Blanket, and Spinach and Artichoke Dip in a bread bowl. Following some yummy appetizers, we played Scattergories and Taboo, two of my favorite games to play with other couples. As our guests left for the evening, they were each handed a scratch off lotto ticket that was placed in a tin bucket with a sign that read, "We hope you get lucky tonight." You have to have a little fun!!! Obviously, my personality is perfectly suited for your adorable and unique aprons. I love them!!!

My husband came up with a Mai Tai recipe for everyone, and we asked guests to come in their best tropical wear. Dessert was leftover cake from our wedding 2 weeks before! We all stayed warm and had a blast playing Cranium, eating kebabs with out-of-season pineapple, enjoying umbrella drinks, and playing games. We’ve had lots of dinner parties, a number of wedding showers, and various other parties since then – all fun of course, but this might be my fondest memory of them all!

My favorite was and always will be Superbowl ’09. My friends and I love football and this last year made it a huge occasion since AZ made it to the Superbowl! Everyone showed their spirit by wearing homemade Cardinals T-shirts and/or something red…..even if you weren’t originally a Cardinals fan (because we live in AZ, gotta support the home state). So we made tons of food, BBQd, dessets and all the trimmings! We had the best time :)

I will always remember the impromptu party my fiance and I held the night before we moved out the the country for a half a year. We felt so loved and a deep bond was strengthened that night with our close friends. Since we were leaving the next day from our home, we had very little in the fridge. We masterfully compensated with some 7-11 candy artfully presented. It was a nice reminder that parties do not need to cost a fortune to last a lifetime. That’s my story.

An event that I will always remember was the first Thanksgiving in our new home – in which we were suddenly hundreds of miles away from both my or my husband’s family. My sister and her boyfriend flew down to break in the pots and pans. And after some hard work we had a lot of laughs, a little burnt stuffing and a brand new memory. I will always remember that day.

My favorite event happens nearly every Saturday in the fall… The University of South Carolina Gamecock Football! My fiance and I met at USC, and this is a time for us and 85,000 of our closest friends to get together and cheer on the Gamecocks. I spend hours Friday and Saturday cooking up yummy tailgating treats… so these aprons will be put to good use! GO GAMECOCKS!

The best party I ever hosted was a pajama party birthday bash I threw for my 25th birthday. I had a pair of Paul Frank pajamas covered in monkeys, and quite frankly I was looking for an excuse to wear them in public! Being in pajamas made everyone extra relaxed and crazy, and it was a party to remember!

Gotta love all of the great family and delicious food every Thanksgiving. I just got engaged about a month ago, so my family will soon be expanding — I can’t wait for our first Thanksgiving with all of us together and my future mother-in-law’s oyster dressing… yum!! I’d sport one of these aprons while helping her out in the kitchen.

This past Saturday, we hosted a BBQ mixer for our wedding party so that my best friends could get a chance to know our groomsmen before all the crazyness of wedding festivities start. I am so amazed at how well everyone got along- it was as if they had been friends for years! The best part of the night was when we pulled all the old bathing suits out of storage for a spontaneous swim in the pool!

Besides my wedding, of course, my favorite event that I’ve hosted was my sister’s 30 birthday surprise party. Complete with emotionally charged photo slideshow and the whole bit. It was very memorable.

My favorite event that I hosted was for the season premiere for Desperate Housewives, I made the cutest invitations and had all pink cocktails with matching plates and napkins and a bunch of delicious snacks, it was so much fun with all of my closest friends

My favorite event would have to be the camping trips my family took during my childhood summers! Every year my cousin would come and visit during the summer & my parents, sister, cousin, and myself would head out to the lake to do some boating, tubing, and fishing. I know its pretty woodsy but I looked forward to the summertime when we would take these camping trips to the lake… the sun, water, sand, tents, campfires, and smores. They were always a special time for my family to get together laugh, talk, and just enjoy being away from work, school, and all the other hectic things in life.

I hosted an event for Invisible Children. It was a silent auction for art. All proceeds went to the "Invisible Children Organization" (war affected children in Nigeria). It was my first event and I hosted it in the Miami Design District which happens to be my favorite place to roam. I was so nervous that things would be a disaster since it was my first time putting an event together. It turned out great and now i think i’m ready to do another one!

My fiance’ and I just hosted our housewarming party last night! It was such a wonderful evening filled with all our favorite people. We felt so special and loved, and all our friends enjoyed seeing our house for the first time. I can’t wait for many more parties in our new house!
