Google+ Southern Wedding of the Week: Ashley + Zane, Part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

Can you say gorgeous?  Floral design by {Nouveau Flowers}, planning by Victoria from {Carillon Weddings}, catering {Townsend Catering Company} and the wedding cake was created by {Confections on the Coast}.  To see more shots from this wedding, click over Vue Photography’s {Blog}Happy Friday!

The weather on our wedding day was: Perfect. One of the guests said, the sky was so blue, it almost looked fake!
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? We are both very simple people and we didn’t want anything that was over the top. I had seen a picture of the tall orchid vases at another wedding and I just had to have them. The reception was based around those centerpieces.
Favorite design element of your big day: The large vases with orchids and the awesome table linens.
Describe your wedding cake: Zane and I both were not very big on the idea of a wedding cake. We had initially said we were not going to have one. We went down to Carillon to meet with our wedding coordinator and the vendors and the cake lady brought samples. There was no way we could deprive our guests of that cake! We still didn’t want a big traditional cake so we had 9 small cakes all different flavors, ours was strawberry. The cakes were a big hit!
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Our A to Z theme.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? The biggest challenge had to be living away from the actual venue and feeling like we were that hands on.
Scariest moment? Zane dropping my wedding band in the sand!
Hardest decision you made in planning? Not inviting all of our family and friends. We wanted to keep the guest list more intimate and unfortunately that meant some people had to be left off of the list.
The most unexpected event on our wedding day was: Zane “breaking it down” at the reception. He is not usually a dancer!
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Breathtaking, magical and perfect.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Take it all in. It all goes by so fast, you hardly have time to enjoy it. It only happens once in your life (hopefully) so you should savor every moment! Oh, and if possible, hire a coordinator. They are lifesavers!
Any DIY items? We (and by “we” I mean my mother) rolled white wash cloths and tied them with green ribbon for the guests to have to wipe the sand off of their feet. Zane and I printed our own escort cards for the reception. We went to a local office supply store and bought the cards and typed the guests name onto them and printed them at home. It was so simple and only took 30 minutes!

Congratulations to Ashley + Zane.  We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

You know what I like about Southern Weddings, both the site and the actual things? They are unashamedly what they are. Not too over the top, no political correctness, just super well done let’s all have a good time.

Creative, yet timeless, which is a combination that is so difficult to pull off. You guys definitely did! Again, hats off to VUE photography… wish I would have known about you when I got married!

Love is sometimes denied, sometimes lost, sometimes unrecognized, but in the end, always found with no regrets, forever valued and kept treasured. The photographer should market his work because it just brilliant.
