Google+ Happy Blogiversary to Us! + mega giveaway! - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

This time last year, we were gearing up for the first ever SW Premiere Party and planning the launch of the SW Blog.  My, how far we’ve come!  We couldn’t be more excited about the direction Southern Weddings is heading and want to say a big THANK YOU for being a part of it with us!  To celebrate our blogiversary, we collaborated with some amazing companies and created a package of seven prizes that one lucky reader will have the opportunity to win.  Thank you to PosePrints,  Paloma’s Nest, Julianne Smith, Janie’s Cakes, Give a Digital, Guestbook Store, and Grits Bits for contributing to our anniversary celebration!

1. Paper products should reflect your style as a couple and give guests a glimpse into your event, and PosePrints provides the perfect way to personalize your correspondence. Their website allows you to create a sophisticated one- or two-person caricature to appear on high-quality paper products. Everything is customizable, from background, facial features and accessories to skin color, hair style, and clothing. All drawings are one-of-a-kind and can be applied to Save-the-Dates, Shower invitations, Thank-you notes and more. Stationary should be uniquely you – and look like you too!

2. I’m always looking for ways to spice up traditional wedding components, and these gorgeous ring bearer bowls from Paloma’s Nest are such a fresh, modern take on the classic ring bearer pillow. Each ceramic bowl is hand-crafted and stamped with a meaningful message, and threaded through two small holes near the rim of the bowl is a silky cord that can be used to hold your rings! And unlike ring bearer pillows, these elegant bowls can be kept and used for years. They would be perfect for holding keepsake jewelry long after the vows are exchanged.

3. Julianne Smith designed her line of chic wedding garters after searching high and low for a simple and fun wedding garter that matched the personality of her friend. Julianne’s garters are individually hand crafted and her garters are so unique that modern brides will want to embrace the garter tradition, even if they don’t do the toss. Julianne uses flirty polka dots, delicate bows and other simple designs to dress her garters up and make them special, without going over the top. Whether you decide to flaunt it, toss it or keep it as your little secret, Julianne Smith’s wedding garters will let you be the modern, stylish bride that you are.

4. We had the pleasure of sampling the Italian Jane from the talented bakers at Janie’s Cakes and were blown away! They use the freshest ingredients (Janie even raises her own chickens!) and have been baking and shipping Janie’s amazing pound cakes for over 20 years. These cakes would make a great addition to a desert bar or serve as a tasty alternative to the traditional tiered wedding cake.

5. The Wedding Digital Frame Gift Pack from Give a Digital allows you to create a digital slideshow of your gorgeous wedding images, and can also be a great personal wedding gift! It’s a simple process to upload your images and Give a Digital will send you a 7” digital frame along with a 1GB memory card containing your images. Pictures are one of the most lasting impressions of your day, so it’s important to have a lovely way to display them!

6. A great alternative to a book of autographs likely to be stored away, these non-traditional guestbooks from Guestbook Store personalize your event and capture guests’ memories and heartfelt wishes for your special day! Each guest at your event will receive their own guestbook page to decorate with special messages, and at the end of the night, you can create your own guestbook by placing the completed pages into one of Guestbook Store’s lovely albums. It’s simple and personal way to create a cherished keepsake!

7. Grits Bits are a fun way to add a touch of southern hospitality to guest favor bags, or would be perfect for a treat table at a cocktail reception. These crispy Bits are bite-sized and baked with grits in four flavors: cheddar, jalapeno, Vidalia onion cheese and sweet cream butter. Their tag line is: “Southerners and Yankees can finally agree on something – Grits Bits are Great!”, and these Southerners can’t help but agree!

Win: One lucky winner will receive SEVEN amazing products: A set of 50 personalized cards from PosePrints, a ring bearer bowl with the message “To Have and To Hold” from Paloma’s Nest, a “something blue” garter from Julianne Smith, a pound cake from Janie’s Cakes, a digital frame from Give a Digital, a guestbook from Guestbook Store, and a variety 4-pack from Grits Bits.

The real wedding of Amy and Joe totally inspired me! I loved their ideas, and the labels on their favor bags were my inspiration for ours! I am a bride, but I also just started a wedding planning business, so your site is always a place I visit first for inspiration to help other brides! Keep doing what you’re doing!!

  2. avatar Kate M. reply

My favorite feature is the Real Weddings. Sometimes all you need is to see how other people pulled off similiar ideas to your own to see that it is a realistic vision and can be done!

  3. avatar pleasesir reply

WOW – such amazing giveaway items! My fav SW feature was actually from last year – the Vintage Cowboy Bride series – The colors and overall feel of the wedding was fantastic. I have it bookmarked for future wedding plans!

SW has provided so much inspiration for me, it’s hard to pin down just one favorite post! I’m a huge fan of the real weddings you’ve featured including:Becca & Jim, (, Charissa & Jaryd(, Kirstie & Josiah (,and Janie & Tony ( for having this must-read blog!

  9. avatar Megan reply

My favorite part of the blog are the real Southern weddings- I get so excited to see them every week. I actually only found this blog about a month ago (despite having been engaged for nearly 9 months), and my fiance teased me mercilessly when I spent two or three straight days going through all the previous posts. My favorite wedding has been Kari Beth and Josh- I love the colors (mine are also pink and green), but I also love the peaceful beauty Kari Beth has- how happy and fun her guests seem to be. I hope I (and all of my friends and family) look like that on my day!

  10. avatar Liz reply

I am one of those readers who is not yet married but loves all things weddings and picturing my big day in the future. Every single post provides me ideas and inspiration which is why I print out a number of the posts and keep them in an notebook for reference when I do start the planning process! Thank you for the daily inspiration!

I love all the questions you ask the bride and groom, it helps us fellow brides see their vision a little more. It’s a great way to see how other brides made it happen. I love the blogs you do just on flowers as well, they are always gorgeous. Thanks girls for such a wonderful blog for all us fans to read!!

The Ghia Graham color palatte of lavender, pewter, and rose added a whole other color to my wedding colors. I just like southern weddings- I knew from the second it came out it would be my favorite and the blog gives me my "fix" everyday. I’m Southern only by region and not my heart, but you guys make me think I can pull off cowboy boots under my dress, and I just may do it. to another great year!

  14. avatar Hayley reply

hands down, it was the first of becca and jim’s pictures, silver and glass balls in their ceremony decor totally changed my wedding vision, and i was lucky enough to find glass ball tealight holders similar to their glass balls for my reception space! we’ll have those, and small silver christmas ornaments throughout the trees in our reception….ahd the monochromatic look is gorgeous, we’ll have something similar with white, and green pops! southern weddings is one of my top go-to spots for inspiration!

  15. avatar RachelJo reply

Your Real Weddings feature has inspired me in countless ways – I have over dozens of starred favorites on my Reader.I would have to say that Brittany + Jerrod played a HUGE part in my wedding theme. The same could be said for Kelly + Robert, Kate + Keith, Amy + Tim… the list goes on!Plus, I love how you interview the couple… and their intimate responses! Gush!

  16. avatar Michelle @ My Wedding Report reply

I love love LOVE the "Details" posts. It gives me so much inspiration and ideas for what sort of details to add to our wedding.

  17. avatar Kerri reply

I have to say that I love all of the posts on the blog so it has been really hard to pick a favorite. The one that I am choosing is Abby and Kevin (Part I and II) from the southern wedding of the week. Several months back I was having a bit of a planning crisis and questioning my choices. I poured over wedding photos from many blogs, but when I stumbled upon Abby and Kebin’s hot pink and lime green affair it completely reaffirmed that I was heading the right direction. Not only was it my favorite post, but also my fiance’s, since it completekly reassured me that I was going to love our wedding and stopped my wedding planning panic!

  18. avatar Mary Kate Raffetto reply

The post that’s inspired me the most over the last year was, without a hint of doubt, the real wedding of Sarah and Derek.’m a long distance bride, planning my wedding in Austin, TX from my tiny apartment in Lexington, KY. My fiance and I met while I was an undergraduate at UT in Austin, and most of the milestones from our relationship took place there – which is why it seemed like a natural fit for the wedding. Planning this event from such a distance has proven itself to be both emotional and challenging. I was having trouble nailing down a venue, and at one time there were over 45 on our list of potential sites! No matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to find a place that provided the feel I wanted the day to have. Then, one day, I had just finished an emotional "freak out" sort of conversation with my Maid of Honor and best friend about our venue problem. I logged onto to check my list of favorite wedding blogs, Southern Weddings being at the top of the list, and I found Sarah and Derek’s wedding at the Barr Mansion in Austin.Finding that post seemed like a gift from God! The wedding captured the feeling and emotions I wanted my day to have, and I knew instantly that the Barr Mansion was where I needed to book. (I was in tears by the end of the two posts about the wedding, the venue seemed so perfect!)Two weeks later, I hopped on a plane to Austin and booked the Barr Mansion for our date June 5, 2010!I couldn’t have done it though without you all! Happy birthday/anniversary! The blog really has made my planning process much easier, and I can’t thank you enough.

I LOVE your REAL wedding features…maybe even a little too much! But I absolutely ADORED your "Wanwisa Wednesday: Wood you be mine?" posting ( !!! It absolutely inspired me to be a little more creative and make save the dates on wooden swatch cards. I packaged it all up in a cute "Amor" gocco stamped muslin bag and the response from our guests have been unbelievable! You can check them out here on my blog: for the inspiration and Happy Anniversary Southern Weddings!

I am a new reader to this blog, well it’s been about 2 months now that I’ve been following it and I have to say it has been a real pleasure exploring the blog and what it offers. I absolutely love looking at your real wedding pictures, they are so inspirational and the style featured is so unique and fun to look at. I love the site and look forward to my continued reading….

I love the real weddings. I was kindof anxious and a little uncertain of my decision to have a immediate family 20 person wedding instead of a big blow out like all of my friends. After seeing the wonderful, intimate small "real weddings" here I have not only found some fabulous ideas ie. invitation box filled with goodies but I’ve also become more comfortable and excited about our decision to have a VIP wedding!

  25. avatar Ashley reply

Color, Color and more Color, I think Southern Brides have the ability to take their lively personalities and high spirits and incoporate that into their weddings. Not that all white is boring, but ok, IT IS! When nature gives us color we need to use it. Weddings are a celebration and there should be nothing understated about them. Riotous color is an eclamation of overwhelming joy, which is what a wedding should be. I love the last posting from Karen Tran on "Vibrant Colors" and applaud you all for bringing summer to us at all times of the year! Cheers!

  26. avatar Jace reply

Wedding of the week: Tara and Jeremy- hands down the most original wedding photography I’ve seen. The colours of these photos have inspired our whole wedding reception. Thank you SW!!

  27. avatar Janna reply

I love love LOVE all of your posts for your distinct beautiful ideas. Favorites include your color palette posts (just so stinkin great) and really loved a post a few months back about non-traditional ring bearer pillows. Keep on inspiring us!

  28. avatar Truc reply

I love all the color palette ideas. I know what I like and dislike, but I’m not very good at coming up with ideas on my own, so seeing different concepts of how a wedding might look has been really helpful to me. (Obviously, the timing has helped on this, as I’ve just started my planning!) And specifically, right now I am using this Gia Graham palette as a jumping-off point for my own planning! (I hope that html worked!)

  29. avatar Patty reply

Happy Anniversary ladies! You inspire me everyday! What I look forward to each week is the Wanwisa Wednesday. She has such a gift for pulling together images and ideas that are dreamy yet practical, vibrant yet subtle, and extravagant yet classic! Thank you!!

Wow!! SW Mag, what an amazing giveaway!! Congratulations on your blogiversary!! Looking forward to celebrating many more with you. Although I’m completely obsessed with your site and love just about every single feature you post, I’d have to say that the Jackson Hole wedding of Allison and Brian is probably my favorite and holds special meaning for me. Mainly because I’m also getting married in Jackson Hole this upcoming July and the amazing Carrie Patterson is also my photographer. I’m madly in love with her work and this gorgeous wedding was no exception. This post gave me all kinds of inspiration, from the fly-fishing drift boats full of beer (what could be better?) to the bride on a mechanical bull (what a fun couple!). I’m totally stealing some of these ideas!! up the great work SW Mag!!

  32. avatar Christina reply

I love the Real Weddings section!! Over the last six months, I have been on SW blog nearly every day. I have collected so many ideas on how to personalize my wedding and reception! I love see the amazing details of each wedding! My favorite aspect are the links to photographers, reception location, etc. I always want to see more and this allows me to!

  33. avatar katie reply

I am in love with this magazine! I check the blog daily and can’t put the magazine down. I love each and every post because it is a reflection of that bride’s style and a glimpse into her life. The most inspiring to me is the post of Susanna and Justin. Being from Kentucky, I love the Derby theme! I found it very helpful to get ideas for my own wedding. I am very honored to be a Southern Bride Blogger and I think this is the best wedding publication out there.

  34. avatar Karen reply

I love Wanwisa Wednesday’s and this one inspired me to get creative with what I use to arrange my flowers. I’m doing all of my own flowers, and I like the idea of using vessels other than ordinary vases.

  35. avatar Brittany reply

I’ve really enjoyed all of the Real Weddings. I almost always see something that gives me a great idea or that makes me go ‘oooh!’ Keep up the great work!

  36. avatar betsy reply

I must say that I was not excited about planning a wedding when my now-fiance proposed to me in December. I had no inspiration nor desire to go through the steps. That was until I happened to see the Southern Weddings mag on the bookshelf of my local Books a Million in Jackson, TN. I combed through all of the weddings in the magazine and suddenly became excited and knew that I could pull of something personal and beautiful and not necessarily break the bank. The magazine took me to the blog, where I was introduced to etsy and now visit before purchasing anything. These past four months have included a daily, if not twice-daily, visit to the SW blog. I am inspired by the real weddings, the real people and the creativity that goes into creating a perfect day. I love where the SW blog takes me…to other sites and other blogs…and all of the ideas that are created here. Plus, the giveaways are always nice!

  37. avatar Courtney reply

My inspiration would have to be Lily and Jordan! Their wedding looks totally different from the wedding I am having but they gave me so many great ideas on how to include some down home southern treats (boiled peanuts anyone?) without it being tacky. I loved their video and it really inspired me to just do what i wanted to do with my own wedding.

  38. avatar courtney reply

****DIY****Wi th everyones wallets seeming a little more "pinched" these days … budgeting.. has been the name of the game for many brides and grooms. Thankfully the SW Blog has kept all of their brides up to par on DIY projects that can help any bride for any style wedding…I think it has given everyone an opportunity to push the envelope with their creative skills, add a little personal touch for their guests, and saved a few pennys here and there… ..what is better then getting DIY tips and ideas from famous wedding/event planners and being able to take credit for it at your own wedding!!!

I think it always has to be the Real Weddings Feature.Every new couple and their photos reminds me of how much I look forward to the big day with my fiance. Each picture reminds me that our photos are going to capture all the beauty, the joy, the love, and the friends and family we have decided to spend our day with. In each phtoto set I know that the couple spent countless hours trying to make their day perfect and it always is.That’s what beautiful about swsmag, you always capture the beauty in every relationship!

  40. avatar Caroline B. reply

Of course the Real Weddings section has to be my favorite – it is so amazing to see how many different ways people can do the same event. Sort of how no snowflake is alike, no wedding is alike! I love how weddings so obviously showcase the couple. You feel like you get to know the couple just by seeing how their design their programs, choose their invite wording, what shoes they wear, etc. It’s a blast. My favorite wedding thus far was Kari Beth and Josh’s. I loved their color scheme and they both just looked so happy!, love, LOVE SW Blog. Checking it is the best part of my day!

  41. avatar Danielle reply

One of the posts that totally struck home for me was the real wedding of Kinsey and Corey… in the descriptions she said to Let your wedding be a reflection of your personalities… Which I think made the planning and ideas start to flow and be more fun! Like they had the fun of the girls and their bottoms, we have incorporated our personalities into everything from sparklers, and flashes of color in my hair and shoes, as well as all the mens socks to the song we chose to dance to and the theater food snack bar at our theater reception. We are fun and our wedding is planned for fun with lots of flare!

  42. avatar April reply

I have had your site bookmarked since August, as I believe in a previous life the boy and I must have been from the South. Most everything southern appeals to us, especially the food, and I have enjoyed seeing how other brides have incorporated fried chicken into their upscale receptions! But the most recent thing to speak to my OCD was the color board by Gia Graham. love seeing my colors brought together, and after seeing the board I fell in love with the Amsale dress. I don’t know how many times I have looked at her dresses and never noticed it, but I think I know what I am going to get now! So a big thank you to you and congratulations on your first year!

  43. avatar Sherin reply

My favorite feature overall is the Real Weddings. I’m a NY bride trying to infuse some southern charm into our wedding (my fiance is from Texas). Your website has some of the best photos and advice from other brides. The weddings you pick are always full of such life and color!

OOOhhhh…the alarm clock goes off…once a boring morning ritual is now jumpstarted with a sip of caffeine & my daily fix of Southern Wedding blog posts. The anticipation of every picture to be uploaded …ooops I just knocked over my coffee in the excitement!….Ahhh the pictures are now displayed: elegance, color combos, save the dates, letterpress vs. ink jet, photographer’s style, real weddings, so many options….is it possible to get married to my main squeeze every year?? Maybe I can incorporate some of the blog inspirations into our anniversary celebrations for years to come. I found Laura’s Hooper’s maps on your page…I can’t wait to see how she customizes our Wedding Weekend map, which will dress up the out of towner welcome bags! Such a nice touch…that’s just what SW means to me, the polished touch. One last comment…the funny thing is that I live in Colorado & our wedding is here in the Rocky Mountains, but I still have booked a few of the vendors & included many ideas posted by the crew at Southern Weddings into our day. Maybe this site should go national. Thank you for the creativity of the all posts, it truly gets me jazzed about our big day!Happy planning to all the brides & brides to be….Jenna

I got engaged back in August of 2008 but only recently stumbled across the amazing-ness that is your website and your blog :) After reading the first few posts, I went back to your first post and read all of them: oh yes, I am mildly obsessed! My favorite posts are the real weddings because they are always such an inspiration. since I am getting married in Charleston, I always obsess just a little more over the ones that took place in my beautiful little city; an example of two:Robin + Winfield {}Blair + Roth {}and then this article that I love love LOVE about the Anatomy of a Southern Wedding:{}You ladies are amazing! Happy Anniversary & happy wishes for many MANY more to come!

I have been depending on you to learn about Southern traditions and felt blessed when I read your article on the meaning and the traditions of a Southern wedding. Thank you so much for your daily inspirations! Our big day will be that much more special because I have you on my side!

I was very excited for this giveaway and started scouring the many images I have saved from many weddings featured on SW. I’m a sucker for any wedding on the beach, but Carissa and Brian’s wedding had me floored! There was so much attention to detail that went into this wedding. The elegant feel and neutral color scheme of crisp whites, blues, and browns was divine, the flowers, decor, table settings, lounge areas were absolutly amazing, and the love this couple shared captured by the talented Jasmine Star simply stole my heart. I tried finding the link on your blog for this particular wedding, seriously… over an hour of searching and couldn’t find it! So in order to qualify for this amazing giveaway, I wanted to share more love for another wedding…hope that is OK.Brittany and Jarrod’s wedding {} was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! The details for this seaside affair were executed very well! The colors and simplicity of the decor gave off the perfect vibe for what they were going for, "Natural and Simple". Rae Leytham is one of my favorite photographers and captured this wedding perfectly! From the overwhelming look of emotion across the bride’s face as she walked down the aisle, to the adorable bamboo bride and groom chairs & chargers, this wedding knocked my socks off…or shall I say Flip flops! Every wedding featured on your blog gives any bride-to-be such great inspiration, but this was my top pick{s}!!!

  74. avatar chandra reply

My favorite feature post was the one where you asked readers to post a photo of what depicts true love to them. It combined my two favorite things, love and photography. But this blog continues to inspire me everyday. Keep up the fantastic work!

It’s so hard to choose just one, but Amy (of ABCD Desings) and Scott’s wedding was particularly inspiring for me. We live in/are getting married in NYC as well and even share some vendors. My favorite feature is the Real Weddings section! I can’t get enough of them. I always get super excited when they’re a) near me or b) I’m familiar with the vendors used. One of my favorite weddings to date was the one in Florida where extreme weather caused the wedding plans to change. Everyone pulled together to have the wedding at Lara’s house, in an expression of what a wedding is really all about- love and families. I love your blog, your magazine, and you all too! Keep up the good work :)

Your Real Weddings have been truly inspirational, but my favorite is the color ideas. I’ve mixed and matched a little, but the pictures have helped me choose flowers and linens!

I loved the custom labels feature and contest you did! I liked reading everyone’s stories in the comments section, it was a really heart-warming way to get into the Christmas spirit!

My absolute favorite post was the pushing up daisies. I am using shasta daisies in my wedding and it is so hard to find inspiration for it because people don’t often use a ton of daisies. This was such a great and beautiful board!

We were having trouble selecting our date due to a number of factors. My dream was a New Year’s Eve wedding in Islamorada, FL, where my grandparents live, but one naysayer almost convinced me that the idea was impractical and bordered on selfish. When I saw Libby & Jimmy’s destination wedding ( bringing my vision to life in ways that I had only dreamed on, a very important sequence of events occured:1. We picked a date, 12-31-2010.2. We picked a location, Islamorada, FL.3. Southern Weddings became my Homepage.Thank you for providing us with support and inspiration during this special time in our lives. Without it, I most certainly would have fallen victim to a mundane and predictable wedding.

It is almost impossible for me to pick a favorite blog post. I have looked at this blog everyday before I was even engaged. However, I do love your Real Wedding feature of Robin and Winfield. It included so many things I love and inspired me for my own wedding. Her flowers included hydrangeas and tulips, both of which are my favorite and will be used on my wedding day. All of her touches of green were beautiful! Also, I loved that she framed her families wedding invitations (grandmothers and great grandmothers). As we all know, family and family traditions are always a big part of any southern wedding. Her family’s wedding invitations were a great tribute to powerful marriages.

Happy Blogiversary to You!! My favroite section is the Wanwisa Wednesday….I literally wait to see the groupings she comes up with. I’ve snagged countless numbers of "ideas photos" from those sections. Favors, flower arrangements, the list goes on and on. If I look in my IE Favorites folder under Wedding Ideas there are 8 of the Wanwisa Wednesday posts there right at the top. In addition the magazine rocked, can’t wait to see what you come up with next (even if it is after my wedding)!

Wanwisa Wednesdays are one of my favorite parts about Southern Weddings. I get a lot of inspiration for all of the details from these entries. The recent "The Birds and the Bees" entry was one of my favorites because I love the bird details so much that I have made it a theme of my own wedding. Thank you for providing all of us brides with so much inspiration this past year. This is my favorite website to come to for wedding inspiration!

I really love all of the inspiration boards you guys put together. They are just so striking, and they all make me want to redesign my entire wedding. The Aqua, Leaf, and Gold one from a few weeks ago REALLY made me want to just turn over all of my plans, haha! I’m so in love with it…*swoons* as a Charleston bride, I’d just like to say that I love all of your features here! I swear by this blog! Keep it up! And happy Blogiversary!

The most inspirational blog was the wedding of Aimee and Matt. My wedding is in October, and I WILL have pink shoes! I cannot wait to take a picture of my shoes along with my NEW husband! As soon as I found I was absolutely hooked. It is perfect for any southern wedding inspiration. I will be getting married in October a little north of Athens, GA. I cannot wait, and I know Southern Weddings Magazine will help me pull off this precious day!!

Any color posts by Gia Graham, but in particular, this one that featured lavender, pewter, and rose. picture on the bottom right is what inspired our wedding attire of me in a mantilla and him in a gray 3-piece suit. Gia’s color boards are fresh, easy to understand, and combine a variety of wedding elements. Every time I see a new one I get the urge to change around our whole wedding color scheme. Not too many blog posts influence me to that extreme, except Gia’s.

I don’t think I can choose just one! I love looking at all the different color combinations, and all the photographs. It has seriously given me tons of inspiration for my own wedding!

My favorite feature is the "what was your most memorable moment" question. I love reading the brides’ response to this question . . . . it inevitably involves a special memory with the groom, and captures the essence of what a wedding is truly about–two people joining together and becoming a "we." All the details fade into the background. Reading these posts gives me a better perspective on my own wedding planning!

  96. avatar Junage reply

I love looking at the real weddings. The detail shots are the most useful and they give me great ideas and I get to figure out how to incorporate them into our wedding.

I don’t know that I can pick just one – there is no other blog where you can find this much inspiration for details that are actually possible to reproduce in your own way! Thanks for all y’all do!!

I loved the post by guestblogger Karen Tran about the Feathers! I love the sparkle and glam that the feathers add to every aspect of the wedding! I’ve always been attracted to the glam and glitz and now that Karen pointed out the use of feathers… I’ve started noticing it more and more! Also, like the bride’s bouqet photoboard of adding a piece of jewelry to the floral stems. My brother is getting married April 25th and I’ve suggested that he give his new bride an antique broch to put on her bouqet as his wedding gift to her. I hope he takes my advice because I think she’ll love this touch as much as I do!Thanks for sharing these photoboards. I looking to get my own ering soon and start planning!Stacey

It’s so hard to choose! As soon as I read this post I started combing through the many "starred items" I have from Southern Weddings in my Google Reader. There’s a LOT to choose from, but I think my favorite was the "Real Wedding" feature on Emily and Neil from late March. Love that dress and proposal story. OK, and the closet he built for her!!!I think my favorite part of the Southern Weddings blog, though, are the "details" posts. Not only do they provide great wedding eye candy – but I feel like by the time the details post rolls around, I really know the couple whose wedding is being featured. It somehow makes the entire blog more intimate and personal

We’ve taken on the task of planning our wedding on our own :/ Great idea because I’m extremely organized; bad idea because I’m quite possibly the world’s worst decorator. My precious fiancé will vouch for that when he patiently helped me paint our future bathroom 3 different colors until I found the right shade of green to match the accessories!! So to avoid a wedding day disaster, I’ve spent an embarrassing but much needed number of hours on this blog. My favorite detail thus far is the color palette posts. The wedding is completely color coordinated and ready for me to copy :) Simple & extremely helpful to us decorating challenged folks. Our life motto is to “keep it simple” & ya’ll have helped make our planning just that. Many thanks to your talented crew for putting together these gorgeous weddings!!Here’s my fave so far…

The photos from the real weddings are my favorite source of inspiration on the Southern Wedding blog! It’s so fun to see what other people do at their own weddings, and then incorporate those ideas into my own. Thanks for a year of great posts, info, resources and inspiration!Keep up the GREAT work girls!

I loved the "Gia Graham Color Palette: Eggplant, Raisin, Plum and Leaf". Something about those colors truly inspired me – I loved the combination, and have incorporated something similar in my wedding palette. In particular, I loved the ring pillow. Lush and dynamic!

First off I want to say Happy Blogiversary!!!!!Last year on Nov 2008, you ladies (Southern Weddings) had posted a Inspiration Board of dessert buffet. A friend had mentioned to me about having a dessert buffet for my wedding but I was confused on how that works with a wedding. After searching through google on Dessert Buffet, I came across your blog (Southern Weddings). I then understood what she meant and I copied/ save the inspiration board on my file. The Dessert Buffet gave me so many ideas on how to set up and decorate. Since then I been a daily reader. Thank you for this mega giveaway!!!P.S I track the inspiration board

I enjoy reading the blog. Of course my favorite are reading the Real Wedding interviews. It is always neat to know how the couple comes up with ideas on their wedding. Also, enjoying looking at the candid photos or the professional photos. One of the real wedding that has always stayed in mind has been the real wedding of Heather and Scott. Their wedding was so unique, creative, and eco-friendly. I thought it was so perfect they got married at the woods with their close friends and family. The wedding looked very intimate but it brought the creativeness from both sides.

It’s so hard to decide – I’ve been introduced to incredible blogs through your website but I must say that the best feature I’ve seen is the real wedding of "Melissa and Ryan" (August 1, 2008). I read it sitting at home in Boston, longing to have a wedding in my home state of North Carolina. Their stunning wedding inspired me to travel down to their site (Claxton Farm) and a few weeks later, our venue was booked! I could not be more grateful for your feature because I now have the wedding of my dreams planned and all it took was a little push down south where I belong! Thanks so much for all of your stunning inspiration and details – it’s so refreshing in a world of cookie-cutter planning and expectations.

I’m a huge fan of this entire site! I have to say though, probably the real weddings. It’s great to see the beautiful photos and absolutely fall in love with something and say "I have to have that at my wedding!" and then to be able to read about it as well. It’s great to get an idea of the thought processes behind decisions and themes and colors, etc. I’m a total wedding newbie and if it weren’t for my best friend who’s like a wedding guru and this site I would be so lost!

My favorite posts on the website are the Wanwisa Wednesdays. She always had such fun and unique pictures and ideas. It helps get my creative juices flowing. My favorite one from the past year was from December 3, 2008 that incorporated Winter Inspirations – Sometimes winter seems like the forgotten season in wedding planning, but not on Southern Weddings! My wedding is in January 2010 and I’m always looking for fresh ideas to brighten up what I’m sure will be a frigid day. Thanks Wanwisa!

What DON’T I love about it?! I’d have to say my favorite posts are the Real Weddings (especially Sarah $ Derek’s) and the Inspirations. Just a month ago I was a floundering bride to be with not even an *idea* of a vision and now the future hubbie and I are looking forward to our day of "Southern Comfort" – with all the elements "borrowed" from this site!

I fell head over heels in love with Tara and Jeremy’s wedding from here: wedding was simple, rustic, and incredibly heartfelt. That is exactly what my fiance and I want our wedding to be like. We are painstakingly picking every detail so that our wedding truly represents us and what the wedding means to us. I loved Tara and Jeremy’s simple but beautiful decor. You could tell the they wanted the wedding not just to be a big party, but to truly represent what a wedding is- the bringing together of two families and two soulmates. I absolutely love that they had their bridal party pray and their parents pray over them. Our officiant is my future father in law, who is the minister in the church we are getting married in, so those religious aspects of a wedding are incredibly meaningful to us.

I adore the blue pumps on your homepage banner. I am such a traditionalist, but ever since I saw those pumps, I have wanted to add a little flair to my wedding by wearing something unexpected. Thank you for the great idea!
