Google+ Details: Hope + Adam, Part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

Read on to hear how Hope created many of the unique elements for this wedding. The two were married at a friend’s home, which worked out perfectly. The wedding reception featured food from {Dad’s Tacos and Burritos} and a wedding cake created by Hope’s mom. Other key vendors would be the florist: Katie Ownes, and planner Roseanna Luczak. Photography by {Matthew Morgan Photography}. Check out Matthew Morgan’s {Blog} to see more from this fun wedding.

What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Don’t take it too seriously, really your just there to have a good time and make the sweetest promise of your whole life. Don’t stress about the little stuff. Really at the end of the day, people are going to remember a moment they shared with you, or a moment they saw between the bride and groom. They really aren’t going to remember what kind of cake they had or whether or not you had an aisle-runner. Do stress about the DJ, he controls the evening, and the photographer, after its all said and done, your pictures are all you have.

Describe your wedding cake: Neither Adam or I like cake very much. Nor do we even eat cake at weddings. Adam likes to call himself a churro connoisseur and I appreciate them so we came up with a churro cake. I talked it over with his mom and she seemed very enthusiastic about making it herself. I wanted as little as possible on my plate so I let her take it over, luckily I can trust her. I bought the little birdies for our cake-topper on etsy.com …shout out!

What’s next for you as a couple? Hmm, what’s next, Adam is trying to plan a trip back to Bali (he took off to surf for a month right after he proposed, which ended up being a smart decision, I had most of it planned when he got back), we really would like to get there sometime this year. We are really looking forward to growing our little family. Hopefully.
Any DIY items? Oh yes, if it was cheaper I did it. My save the dates: I took about 30 different pictures from our engagement shoot and turned them into postcards (which the postage is $.29 as opposed to the usual $.48) I had a stamp that said “save the date” that we embossed on the back and I wrote the date on the picture somewhere, wherever I saw artistically fit according to that particular picture. Doing the pictures different from each other sparked a lot of interest, I would find people talking about them “oh, which one did you get?” My invitations: which were so fun to do, if you have the patience and the knack…Paper Source! My flower-girls baskets: I found nice baskets at cost plus world market, and I decorated them with different colors of ribbon. Departure debris: we had our guests throw (or lob, some people didn’t get the message) birdseed at us as we ran through the tunnel. I bought some tulle and ribbon, just cut out squares and tied them up…easy. The cake: the churro design was pretty simple, add some ribbon, flowers and birdies on the top and your done. Our thank-you notes: same idea as the save-the-dates but we used pictures of us from the honeymoon. Some of us and some with us and thank you written in the sand with sea-shells, rocks and sticks.

Congratulations to Hope + Adam. We wish you the best as you begin your life together!

So I have looked at this wedding like 5 times already. I LOOOOVE it! I’m in love with anything nontraditional and just swoon over the creativeness and the fashion alone is to die for. Love it!!
