Google+ Real Wedding: Liz + Chris - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

The lovely Ashley Baber of {Ashley Baber Weddings} is fabulous.  Not only was she one of the many Atlanta planners that helped us plan the {Southern Weddings Premiere Party}, she also planned this stunning Highlands, North Carolina, wedding.  The ceremony and reception took place at the {Inn at Half-Mile Farm} with catering and floral design by {Epting Events}.  All paper items were created by {Paces Papers}.  Dress by {Jenny Lee Bridal}.  Bridesmaids dresses by {Jenny Yoo}.  Photography by {Christine Gallagher Photography}.  Check out Christine’s coverage of Liz + Chris on her blog {Post I}, {Post II}, {Post III}, {Post IV} and {Post V}.  Happy Monday, y’all!

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. We met through a mutual friend, Sarah, who is married to Chris’s cousin Cam. Sarah had been telling us for a long time that we should meet, and finally we did.
The weather on our wedding day was: Beautiful, spring day, 74 degrees. We were worried it would rain, but it didn’t until the next morning even though weather reports called for it! That is why we ended up using a tent during the ceremony. We were later glad we did because it provided shade!
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? Wanted a beautiful, springy, not – too –formal, but still sophisticated feel.
Favorite design element of your big day: I loved all the yellow and white flowers and details, I also loved my wedding dress, and the yellow I chose for the bridesmaids. I liked letting each bridesmaid select her own style dress. They all used the same fabric, color, and length, but were free to choose which style they liked.

Tell us about finding your wedding dress: It was the first dress I tried on! Though I looked at others to be sure. The designer was Jenny Lee, and I found it at Kelly’s Closet in Atlanta.
Describe your wedding flowers: Yellow, white and green – spring and not too formal. The pictures probably tell it best.

Describe your wedding cake: Very casual, chocolate and vanilla cake with chocolate icing and fresh yellow flowers on top.

Our favorite detail of the wedding was: The beautiful setting in the mountains.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Trying to plan a wedding from out of town and working at the same time!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? The band, Bobby and the Aristocats, were incredible and got the party started early!
Three adjectives that describe the day are: FUN, FUN, and FUN! Beautiful, relaxed, and FUN!
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Find pictures of design elements you love, then take the aspects you like the best and incorporate them. Make it your own.
Other details you want us to know about your wedding: We wanted the wedding in a beautiful setting that would reflect our style. Highlands, in the mountains of NC, was perfect for that. It was a beautiful place to spend a weekend and was in between Atlanta, where Chris is from, and Eastern North Carolina, where I am from.

Congratulations Liz + Chris! We wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Does anyone know where in Eastern NC this couple is from? I’m planning a wedding in the Louisburg area, and I am hoping to have a similar relaxed and rustic vibe at my wedding. These photos are fabulous, and I hope there are more to come! Thanks for posting!

Please, can someone let me know who made those shoes? They are so pretty, and would really go with my dress!

Can I just say, you feature the most beautiful real weddings. That said, I love the shade of yellow used in this wedding. Very relaxed yet sophisticated. I also like the muted colors in the bridesmaids’ posies. Also, I love how they used moss-covered pots for the table-top floral arrangements.I wish there was a photo of the cake. It sounded yummy when Liz described it.Congratulations to the beautiful couple!
