Google+ Introducing Guest Blogger Karen Tran, Part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

Karen + Russ’s wedding and reception was held at the beautiful {Hotel Del Coronado} and coordinated by {Emily Smiley}. With the clean color palate of whites and creams for the ceremony, to liven things up, Karen infused a vibrant palate of reds and oranges for the cocktail and reception with the flowers created by Karen and linens provided by {Wildflower Linens}. The 30 piece band from {Wayne Foster Entertainment} also livened things up, getting guests to dance on the incredibe monogramed custom dance floor created by {Platinumpro}. To top the evening off, guests were treated to a magnificient cake created by {Dessertier}.The stunning images were taken by the talented Darin Fong of {Darin Fong Photography}. Check out his {blog} for more images of Karen + Russ’s spectacular wedding!

Cocktail Hour: Our cocktail décor embraced an Island style theme. Since the lawn has a Pacific Ocean backdrop, we wanted something more casual and exotic. We hire an authentic Hawaiian band with beautiful dancers to serenade the guests.

The Wedding Cake: Michele Coulon dessertier designed our four tiered square cake dusted with 24k gold. Our children’s names (all 7 of them) were scripted on one side of the cake. The gold scrolls were a perfect touch for our reception décor.

Entertainment Band: Wayne foster Entertainment was the highlight of our reception. The 30 piece band played continuously for 5 hours. Our entrance song was ‘Let’s get it started in here’ by black eyed pea and guests danced before they sat down for dinner.
Custom Dance Floor: Platinumpro provide the white Seamless dance floor with our logo on it. It really was the masterpiece in the middle of the grand ballroom.
Ice bar and Martini Luge: It was a fun addition to our reception. We had our logo imprinted inside the ice sculpture

What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Walking down the aisle to Norah Jone’s ‘come away with me’ (sang by the Gospel choir) and looking at the ocean as I approach my husband. I was of course in tears.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Allow enough time to customize your wedding. Think outside the box and introduce different elements that are not traditionally used.
What’s next for you as a couple? Russ and I enjoy our home life in Southern California where we work together, laugh together and play golf as often as we can.

Congratulations to Karen + Russ! Be sure to check back every Thursday for more from Karen Tran!
