What a week!

by in Inspirations, News on

The Southern Wedding of the Week this week is very special.  We’ve been so busy this week that we are making it a five-part (yes, 5 parts!) SW of the Week extravaganza tomorrow.   Sorry for the delay, but it will be worth the wait.   Stay tuned for a wedding that literally happened in my back yard.

Here’s a sneak peek of just a few of the features on our new BlogSite that is set to launch in a few weeks.  Need some blog love?  Email me for the brand new media kit that was released last night.  Space is very very limited at this point and our print deadline is fast approaching.

Must-click’s from around the blog world this week:  One of my fav Martha weddings of all time on {Ritzy Bee} … I still have that issue!, Popcorn Idea on {Brooklyn Bride}, Anna Be on {Style Me Pretty}, An Orchard Wedding on {Once Wed}, Happy Fall! on {Snippet and Ink}, Martha’s very lucky assistant preps for her Tennessee wedding on {The Bride’s Guide}, Escape to Athens on {La Tartine Gourmande}, Jenny + Micah on {Elizabeth Anne Designs}, too funny… Heelarious on {The Event Essentials}, Lucky Me’s Etsy Shop is open!, gorgeous new designs on {ABCD}, One Good Thing on {Creature Comforts}, Tara’s Wedding on {In This Instance}, Camille and Chris on {The Bride’s Cafe}, {Darling Dexter}‘s DIY wedding decor details… so lovely!

My favorite part of the week is getting a rare moment to actually talk to a blogger or wedding pro over the phone.  I had several great calls this week and two in particular I have to mention… one with Dawn Easter of {Dawn Easter Events} and another with Andria Lewis of {Andria Lewis Events}.   I am so honored to be in an industry that is driven by strong women in business and these two ladies are no exception.  They’ve started businesses by themselves, from the ground up.  Are you running your own business and balancing life/work/and a million other things?  How do you do it?  We could all learn from each other.  Leave your thoughts of encouragement here.

With all the people I talk to daily but never get to meet, we have been playing with the idea of a WEDDING BLOGGERS RETREAT.  Who’s in?  Everyone is invited- photographers, bloggers, designers, wedding planners… anyone who has a blog!  We are thinking of sometime in January or Feb, very low-key, just a weekend of relaxation and inspiration.  Have ideas?  Email me.  I’d love to hear your thoughts.  It would have to be somewhere that is very easy to travel to… maybe Atlanta?  OK, leave some comments with ideas.

Special thanks to Kellie Kano for driving all the way to Chapel Hill with her fab assistant Leah to shoot the SW gals on Wednesday.  It was a blast and we can’t wait to see the shots!  Kellie is so much fun to work with!

I have to say a personal thank you to my team here.  Rachel, Laura and Kirstin have been working their tails off and I want to publicly thank them for inspiring me every day, encouraging one another, making me laugh and keeping things so exciting around here!  I feel so blessed to know each of you.

Happy Friday and be sure to check in tomorrow for the SW of the Week!

It is important to balance work and life – we all get obsessed with weddings. I try make time to get away – with and without family. I would love to do a retreat in Charlotte. It is great to meet women business owners and like-minded professionals.
