In order to give our couples the attention they deserve, we film only one wedding a day and accept a limited number of commissions each year. We want to get to know you, have coffee with you, and of course become friends on Facebook. I mean, that is the epicenter of human interaction, right? We’re based in Oklahoma but will film weddings anywhere… well, almost anywhere. Maui, yes. Antarctica, probably a no. I digress. We have two dogs and three cats. We could live off sushi alone. We’d sleep all day if you let us. We believe you have personality, and your wedding film should too.
Where you call home: Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
Things you’d write home to your Momma about: We’ve won three Creative Excellence Awards from WEVA International (Wedding and Event Videographers Association). But I think I get the most excited when I get to tell my mom about a heartfelt email or thank you card from a bride.
Location/coverage: Based in Oklahoma, available worldwide.
How I got into weddings: We both have a background in journalism. When we got married our videographer was a man we both knew from TV stations we’d worked at. A couple of friends used him and, having no idea how far wedding videos have come, we booked him sight unseen. We loved our highlight video, and were quite surprised to be honest. I looked at Rick and said, “We could do this. And we would LOVE doing this.” And the rest is history.
Favorite thing about weddings in the South: The charm. It seems there is always something so charming and so personal about weddings in the South.
Favorite part of a wedding day: Something seems to happen during every ceremony that either makes me cry, or beam from ear to ear. It could be a big moment like the bride walking down the aisle, or a split-second glance between the couple. Whatever it is, it always catches me off guard and reminds me what a privilege it is to capture one of the most important days in a person’s life.
Best piece of advice you can give to brides & grooms: There are no rules anymore. Don’t feel like you have to walk down the aisle to one of the usual songs, or serve guests a certain kind of food. Do what fits your personalities. Do what makes you happy.
Dream travel destination: Greece
Favorite Southern city: Charleston, SC… went once for a conference and can’t wait to go back.
Early bird or night owl: Very very night owl… but love to see the sunrise on the rare occasion I’m up early enough to catch it.
Pie bar or red velvet cake: Pie bar all the way. My mom’s blackberry cobbler is a must.
Pottery Barn or Anthropologie: Pottery Barn. I’m not sure which catalogue is a bigger detriment to my bank account, Pottery Barn or B&H Photo & Video (camera gear).
Succulents or peonies: Can I call an audible and say sunflowers?
