How I got into weddings: After realizing that teaching wasn’t my passion, I knew that the events industry was where I belonged. I switched majors, got my BA in Hospitality and Tourism, and Leigh Pearce Events was born. In the beginning, while growing LPE, I worked in catering and venue management. They were both wonderful teachers and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.
Favorite part of a wedding day? The moments leading up to the ceremony, hands down. There is an almost audible hum of nerves and excitement in the air. You’ll find lots of smiles, a few happy tears, and special prayers. It’s amazing how all of those things can happen in the first fifteen seconds of “Canon In D.”
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? Work with amazing vendors. Because you trust them and value their experience, you will be so much more relaxed and enjoy your wedding experience. Relish all the little moments throughout your experience, from the proposal until the last sparkler burns out at your reception.
Favorite Southern city? Charleston — I love the old world charm and the food just can’t be beat!
Pie bar or red velvet cake? A big slice of red velvet with lots of cream cheese icing
Succulents or peonies? Big pretty, pink peonies!
