Where you call home: Centerburg, Ohio
Things you’d write home to your Momma about: We are so proud to have been awarded the Best of Knot Hall of Fame and be published in several wonderful blogs and magazines, including The Knot magazine, Columbus Bride, Cottage Hill, Magnolia Rouge, and many more. Above all, we cherish the amazing notes from our couples about how much they love their wedding photographs–those have been and always will be the best compliment.
How I got into weddings: Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been in love with weddings. Growing up, I wanted to be a wedding planner, and as I grew older, I began to love the art of photography. Someone in college told me to look into wedding photography, and I never thought about it until Coty and I got engaged. In 2006, I started shadowing photographers in my area, and while on our honeymoon, Coty announced that he wanted to shoot weddings with me. He was on a path to becoming a police officer, so it was definitely a different direction for sure! In 2007, we started Henry Photography, and the rest is a beautiful history.
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? That no matter the trend, there is always a classic elegance to a wedding in the South. I also love that drinking sweet tea in a mason jar while wearing a custom made Vera Wang is totally okay, and encouraged, on a warm day!
Favorite part of a wedding day? It would have to be the first time a groom sees his bride. No matter if they are doing a first look or they are surrounded by family and friends at the ceremony, there is something so intimate and romantic about this moment.
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? Our best advice would be to always remember that this big day is the first day of the rest of your lives together as husband and wife! I always encourage couples to carve out a moment in the busy timeline to just reflect on the day together. The day goes so quickly, and I find that when a couple steps away from a reception for a few minutes at sunset to grab a few golden hour photos, that is the perfect time to soak it all in. I can’t tell you how many times I hear a bride and groom tell us at the end of the evening how fast the day went, and having a quick moment to reflect is always so much more memorable!
