Name: Cheryl Sullivan
Where you call home: Wild, wonderful West Virginia
Things you’d write home to your Momma about: My family has always been such a special part of my business, and having their love and support has meant the world to me. I am so blessed to be a part of each of our couples’ lives and to be there with them on such an important day. By the wedding day, I truly feel like a part of the family. My highest honor will always be the relationship I have with my brides after the big day. Whether it’s a referral to a future bride or a baby announcement in the mail, I feel so fortunate to do what I love.
How I got into weddings: For as long as I can remember, I have always loved hosting celebrations for my loved ones, from Sunday dinners to showers to holiday reunions. I fell deeply in love with weddings and the strong family traditions they honored. After a few years of planning weddings, I knew I was hooked. I took a chance and started a business doing what I love. I’ve never looked back!
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? The hospitality! I love the way a couple and their families want to welcome and take care of their guests. They were raised to truly care about the happiness and comfort of others and they deliver in such a big way. From the food to the hugs to the favors, they thank their guests in the best way possible!
Favorite part of a wedding day? Oh, there are so, so many! The calm moment right before a father walks his daughter down the aisle. The joy on a bride’s face as she sees her groom. The excitement when a couple walks into their reception, filled with love and cheers from their friends and family. The hugs from almost every family member at the end of the night. But I think my favorite of all is when I look over and see my couple doing exactly what they’re supposed to be doing: smiling from ear to ear and enjoying themselves.
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? Be you. Plain and simple, this day is about the two of you and your marriage, and that’s all that matters. Don’t worry about trends or what someone else will think. Choose what feels right to you.
