Southern Weddings Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

Who’s excited for V4?? Y’all, we’ve been working like crazy this past week to fit in all of the amazing features and photos into our magazine. (In between writing, editing and designing pages, we celebrated Whitney’s birthday!) We can’t wait to share the new issue with you guys. For now, the pretty images in the Weekly Round-Up will have to suffice.

We started off the week with a fun-loving farm engagement session. Audrey + Jordan make tandem bikes look like the coolest thing this side of the Mason-Dixon.

Around here, monograms never get old. That’s why we think this week’s Southern Fab Find is so good! Southern Proper Monograms come in a variety of sizes that would look perfect gracing your church doors or hanging from chairs. Go to the original post to enter to win two! And check out this post to see who won our past Southern Fab Finds giveaways!

This is what we’ve all been waiting for, isn’t it? The first post in Emily’s wedding planning series! Here, she introduces us to her sweet fiance, John.

Sierra teamed up with Carlee Sizemore from High Cotton Event Design for another dose of Southern Hospitality! This week, Atlanta gets highlighted with a cute tote that you can fill with the city’s best.

Break out your aprons y’all, I’m teaching you the basics of preserving fruit in this week’s How-To column. Soon it will be cold, but you’ll have saved your favorite bits of summer.

This week, we featured Tara + Steve’s coral and aqua wedding as the Real Wedding Gallery of the Week! Take a look, you’ll fall in love with their sweet basset hound and floral details.

Real Weddings are oh-so-pretty:

Whitney + Jeff’s Florida wedding managed to be both modern and romantic. We’re big fans of their pink and grey color scheme. See it here and here.

Lisa + Blake’s country wedding was an event that genuinely reflected their personalities. Food, games, and one amazing cake demonstrated the South at its finest. Check it out here and here.

Vendors, don’t forget: you’ve only got a few hours left to get your ad in V4, and we’re offering 25% off! Contact Whitney for all the details!

Have a Southern weekend, friends!

Yeehaw, y’all! Happy Friday! We brought you some lovely features, inspiration, and weddings this week, so we won’t keep you waiting. Who would want to put off looking at these pretty things?

We started off with crazy-exciting news. Pre-orders for V4 are now open!! Just a few short weeks before our next print edition comes hot off the press, so click here to place an order.

This barn wedding inspiration shoot from Amy Rae Photography reminded us of why we love the juxtaposition of rustic and romantic so much. Click on over and feast your eyes upon some amazing details.

One of our favorite Southern movies, The Notebook, had us reaching for our hankies! It also had us inspired as Marissa rounded up the key elements to what we imagine Allie + Noah’s wedding would have looked been like in this week’s Southern Style post.

Emily’s inspiration board from last week has us smitten with soft peaches and blues. I rounded up some color palette picks to infuse your life with our favorite Southern fruit!

We were so blown away by your response to our oh-so-Southern escort card entries. It made us hard for us to pick a winner! However, we’re happy to announce that Honey Bee Invites took the crown this time with two adorable entries (here and here).

This week’s featured Real Wedding Gallery was Andrea + Tres. Their New Orleans nighttime wedding was the height of glam.

Lovely Southern Weddings:

Cassie + Ryan’s old Hollywood wedding was elegant and dramatic. The green and white colors were just the fresh combo of color to bring old Hollywood to live. See it here and here.

Kristen + Chad’s wedding was full of sweet and Southern details. We love how Historic Cedarwood even surprised the couple with a wishing well that brought back memories of their engagement! See it here and here.

Hootin’ and Hollerin’ Good News!

Vendors, did you hear about our Blue Ribbon Vendor Directory? We’re so excited to be providing our readers with the best resources around the South, so tell us all about yourself and apply to be a Blue Ribbon vendor! Just email Whitney and she’ll give you an application. They are due on September 15.

Desiree Dawn Events and Chelsea Boatwright Photography are teaming up to give you a huge Fall 2011 wedding deal! Take a look at this post on Desiree’s blog for details.

Vendors, here’s a great opportunity for you! Kathryn Carrier is heading out to 12 cities this fall for a day-long workshop where she’ll cover the legal aspects of owning and protecting a wedding business. Each attendee will also get a custom client contract. Head over to the Law School for Wedding Professionals site for more details and to register.

Lastly, y’all now how much the Southern Weddings ladies love the Smilebooth. Well, if you love it, too, there’s a great opportunity available this week in the 100 Layer Cake shop to snag a reservation for far less than usual! There are booths available in the Southern locales of Atlanta, Austin, Baton Rouge, Houston, and North Carolina, so head on over and take a look!

Before you go, take a look at these beautiful photos from one of our Southern Brides of the Month, Megan! She and her hubby, Brandon were married in May. Big thanks to GwyneMark Photography for sharing it with us!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Whew! It’s been a crazy week, y’all! Aren’t you glad tomorrow is Saturday? Maybe you’ll be sleeping in and treating yourself to a big breakfast, like me. This week was all about inspiration! Let’s take a look back.

Emily put together a Southern Inspiration Board full of soft peaches and blues. It’s the perfect ode to our favorite summer fruit, the peach, which hits peak ripeness in August.

This week’s Southern Fab Find brought me visions of an outdoor cocktail hour. Wouldn’t your signature drinks look adorable on these Paper Fancy trays? Go to the original post to enter to win one!

We received so many cute and creative escort card entries for our first Ultimate Southern Challenge. This week, we shared our top ten finalists! Emily Steffen submitted barbecue sauce and spice rub escort cards!

Beeology teamed up with photographer Jill Higgins to bring us these sweet-as-honey escort cards.

Daisies and Pearls brought us an idea that’s sure to put a spring in your guests’ steps. The Carolina Shag steps are illustrated on these escort cards, photographed by Meredith Perdue.

Cyn Kain Photography and Erin McLean Events shared an adorable idea that comes with easy DIY steps! The s’mores escort cards look so yummy!

The pie pop escort cards submitted by Allison Barnhill Designs, photographed by Elizabeth Ryan Photography and catered by Relysh Catering will have your mouth watering!

The entry submitted by Southern Fried Paper and photographed by Sarah Kate brought life to a Southern staple, sweet tea! We also love the table display by After Yes.

Y’all know how much we love our seersucker bow ties! Honey Bee Invites gave us an intense dose of cuteness with their escort cards, photographed by The Studio B.

Honey Bee Invites and The Studio B brought us another adorable concept: Fried Check-In!

We sat a spell with our dynamic Editor In Chief, Lara Casey! She really needs no introduction, but she’s got some pretty funny tidbits to share with you.

Remember Dana + Danny? They’re black, white, and red Florida wedding won our hearts. This week, they’re our featured Real Wedding Gallery!

Y’all will love these announcements!

Paper-lovers rejoice! The Lettered Olive is holding their very first trunk show in Charleston, S.C., to show off their new collections, iPad app, and to offer you a sweet little deal! Remember to visit them on Wednesday, September 7 from 4pm to 7pm at their shop!

We know how much y’all adore Forage bow ties. Lucky you, they’re featured in 100 Layer Cake’s Pop-Up Shop this week! Head over there before the sale ends tonight!

I was just wondering if there were anymore finalists in the escort card contest. I only counted 8. Were there supposed to be 10?

Hi Shanna! Nope, we just said we’d post our favorites this time around! Here’s the original post I’m referencing: http://tinyurl.com/3uvqhwe
