Happy Fourth of July!

by in Inspirations, Main on

Happy Fourth of July, ladies + gents! We hope you’re celebrating with your families, eating barbecue (whether you like it Memphis style, Western North Carolina style, or Eastern North Carolina style, like me!), diving into some red velvet cake and heading out for fireworks this evening. We’ll see you back here tomorrow with our regular posts!

Ooo boy do we have a fun wedding for you today — DIY brides, delight! The wedding invitation designer-bride screen printed the couple’s invitations herself and decked Eva Restaurant with colorful bunting and a cheerful banner stretching across the ceremony space. Yeri, the bride, made it easy for guests to wave their well-wishes with little flags and dab their tears of joy with individually packaged handkerchiefs. The festive air didn’t stop at paper, however. Yeri and her bridesmaid both wore short and fun David’s Bridal dresses, while Yeri opted for a simple dress and veil and completed the look with adorable polka-dotted coral pumps from J. Crew. The bride and her sister arranged all the flowers themselves with the help of her in-laws, who bought dozens of assorted flowers from their local farmer’s market. Special thanks to Yvonne Wong Photography who shared this DIY wedding with us!

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. We met while attending the University of Washington in Seattle. We found out later that we used to attend the same elementary school in Los Angeles!
Describe the proposal. Adam was in cahoots with my sister to pick out the perfect ring. She also made a custom box / ornament for Adam to hang on our tree. I was on my way home from work and was going to pick Adam up to go eat. He kept urging me to come into the apartment. When I went inside, he showed me the ornament and proposed!
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Light-hearted, humorous, and joyful.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: The “Tears of Joy” bundles.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: It was a strapless, short dress. Very simple.
Describe your wedding flowers: My in-laws were kind enough to go to the farmer’s market and buy a large amount of roses and other assorted flowers. My sister and I made our bouquets and the in-laws helped to make the table arrangements.

This bright and summery turquoise + red shoot is perfect for Memorial Day, hmm? I love that the designer behind the goodies, Allison Barnhill, modeled this inspiration shoot off the dream wedding she would have loved to have for her big day eight years ago — “whimsical, lighthearted, and filled with unexpected touches.” What can I say, we wedding people love to dream!

Beautiful stationery made by Allison set the cheery tone.

I am loving the team’s use of carnations! They’re often discarded as an ugly flower, but if you mass them together in one color, they can be beautiful — and cost-conscious!

Thank you so much to Allison for sending this over, and to Elizabeth for the lovely photos! We hope you’re celebrating somewhere sunny, readers!
