Southern Weddings V7 Model Call: Charleston

If you’re signed up for the Southern Weddings newsletter, you’re about to have a snapshot of where we are in the magazine prep process sent to your email! Spoiler alert: we are knee-deep in the middle of our editorial shoot season :) We’re looking for a few happy faces to join us in Charleston, and would love to hear from you!

This is a smaller shoot, so we are just looking for a bride and groom, a maid of honor, and a best man. All hair/skin colors are welcome, though we are particularly looking for a Hispanic couple for this shoot, so if that sounds like you, I’d encourage you to apply!! If chosen, we will need you to be available on site from about noon to 8pm on Wednesday, June 25. We might start later or end earlier, but we want you to be prepared!

If you’re interested, please send an email to [email protected] with the subject line V7 Charleston Model Call. Be sure to include a recent headshot (no need for professional photos, we just want to see your lovely face!), a few candid photos, and your height. We promise it’s going to be a blast!

P.S. Closer to Nashville than Charleston? We’re still looking for a few happy faces to help us in the Music City!

Southern Weddings V7 Behind the Scenes, Part 1

We just wrapped up our second Southern Weddings Volume 7 editorial shoot on Tuesday, so we thought now might be a good time to check in and report on our first shoot, which took place at the end of April! So many people wonder how, exactly, the magazine comes together with such a small staff. The answer boils down to relationships – we are so lucky to work with such talented folks! This time around we had Landon Jacob on hand for photography, Kelly from Philosophy Flowers on blooms, and LULA Hair & Makeup making everyone look beautiful (just to name a few!). Though everything came together perfectly on the day-of, this shoot was not without its hiccups in the run-up – leading to this (overly dramatic?) instagram photo we shared just days before:

Consider it our best attempt at a Scarlett O’Hara impression. In the end, though, our worries went unfounded, as we were rewarded with an absolutely gorgeous day – probably the prettiest one we’ve ever had for a shoot.

We tried something a little different for the cake this time around – we purchased a simple two-layer beauty from Whole Foods, then added our own decor. It turned out better than we expected, and we’re excited to share this totally doable idea in the magazine! Jordan captured the final result (just out of the frame!) beautifully.

Possibly my favorite moment of the day, though? I returned home, tired after many hours on my feet, only to turn around from putting things away to see my cat gleefully licking our cake!! Her eyes were practically closed, she was so happy. Well, at least we know it was delicious :)
