There’s nothing better than celebrating an engagement with a sweet bride-to-be via Instagram or our Engaged Reader Round-Ups, and then seeing her wedding a few months later! Such was the case for Nicole and Todd, who shared their adorable proposal story with us last year for this post. As you can read below, it’s quite the memorable one, and I must say, their Charleston wedding, complete with a buried bottle of bourbon, Nicole’s lace gown, and the loveliest monogrammed napkins, is pretty darn memorable as well!

Thank you so much to Jenn Hopkins for sharing this lovely day with us!

Tell us all about the proposal! Todd and I had been dating for a little over three years and Christmas was coming up. I really wanted to send out photo Christmas cards that year because receiving them is one of our favorite things about the holiday season. I contacted our favorite photographer (Jenn Hopkins) and asked if she could do a quick session with us–but nothing too mushy because we were just dating. Todd had given me a little grief because he had to come home from work early to get ready for our pictures (little did I know, he was just trying to cover up what was about to happen!). We are both awkward in pictures, so as soon as we met up with Jenn and she started taking “test shots,” the jokes started coming. I remember saying “I don’t know what to do with my hands” and then looking at Todd, wondering why he was kneeling in the dirt. I immediately thought, “Really funny Todd, acting like you’re proposing just to make Jenn laugh.” And…I tried to push him over. Only after I noticed he was digging in his pocket and he pulled out a ring did I realize he was being serious! The bonus is that Jenn got pictures of the whole thing–I love that!

I knew exactly what style of dress I wanted–all lace, a high neckline, and some sort of cap sleeve. I made appointments at a few bridal stores in town and took my sister with me for a second opinion. At the first store, I found a dress that fit all my requirements, but it was almost twice my budget! I ended up finding my gown on the sample sale rack at the second store. It was made of a beautiful guipure lace, and after a few small alterations to bring the neckline up and create a little sleeve, it became exactly what I wanted! And, it was less than half my dress budget!

Curious about the Southern tradition of burying the bourbon? Check out our post about it here!

Did you decide to do a first look? Why or why not? Yes, we did. Our venue is part of a state park that does not allow events to start until the park is closed at 5:00 P.M….just when the sun is fading fast in November. We had to do a first look if we wanted to use any natural light for pictures. I must say, our first look was one of my favorite parts of the whole day. For those few moments, we felt like we were the only two people for miles. This whirlwind of a day just seemed to stop and it was just the two of us. I am so glad that we had that time together, and I can promise you, it won’t make walking down the aisle to your groom any less special!

Todd and I love Charleston, so it was an easy decision to get married there and share it with our families, but finding a venue was a little more challenging. There is no shortage of gorgeous venues in the Holy City, but I wanted to simplify our wedding day by having the ceremony and reception at the same location. I also wanted our wedding to feel like an alfresco dinner party at a beautiful home, rather than an event space. Not only is the Legare Waring House a beautiful home, it is also surrounded by the most amazing old oak trees that gave us plenty of places to take pictures. When you have such a beautiful backdrop, you don’t need a bunch of decorations, which helped keep our budget in check.

Our pastor and good friend (who came from Florida with his wife and newborn!), Matt, performed the ceremony, and it was truly tailored to fit us. He did an amazing job explaining our roles to each other as they relate to our lives in Christ; starting with our call to leave our parents, cleave to one another, and weave our lives together as we form our family. Following the vows, we were told over and over that this was one of our guests’ favorite parts of the entire wedding!

Describe your wedding flowers. Flowers are one of my absolute favorite things. I chose shades of white garden roses and ranunculus with lots of dusty greenery. Our florist surpassed all of my expectations–they were truly the most beautiful (and best smelling) flowers I have ever seen. After our wedding, my green-thumbed husband rooted a few of the clippings from my bouquet so I can always have flowers from our wedding.

What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? I purchased a vintage monogram from my favorite monogram shop, Number Four Eleven, in Savannah. I used it for the wax seal and stamps on our invitations, cocktail napkins, and our linen dinner napkins. The vintage monograms from Number Four Eleven are so elegant, and I plan on using it forever. Our food was classically Southern: crab cakes, shrimp and grits, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and collard greens. We knew both of our families would love it! We also buried a bottle of bourbon. I think we probably broke some park rules by burying a bottle of Maker’s Mark on the property, but it worked–there wasn’t a single drop of rain on our wedding day.

What is the one detail or vendor that you were so happy to have as a part of your wedding? Our day-of coordinator (and florist), Beth, was like a fairy godmother. I truly do not know how anyone has a wedding without her. If anything went wrong, I didn’t hear even the slightest hint of it. Without her, I don’t think Todd and I would have been able to relax and enjoy our wedding. Also, our photographer and her second shooter were truly amazing. They traveled from Florida for us and we couldn’t be more thankful. It was such a relief to have a photographer that we trusted with such an important day!

Our favorite detail of the wedding was: My groom was my favorite wedding detail! Months after our wedding, I still can’t believe I got to marry him. He is my husband! Isn’t that just the craziest thing!?

How did y’all meet? Tell us your love story. Todd and I met through a mutual friend when he was living in Georgia and I was in Florida. We talked on the phone for about three months (that Alabama accent of his did me in on the first night!) before he made the six-hour trip to take me out on a date. I don’t think we’ve spent more than two weeks apart since then!

How many friends, family members, and loved ones attended your wedding? 90
How did you plan for your marriage while planning your wedding? We went through several weeks of premarital counseling, which was recommend by our pastor. We were both a little apprehensive in the beginning, but we were amazed by how much we learned about our relationship. We actually really enjoyed it.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? A few months after we started wedding planning, we found out that the house I had been renting was going to be put on the market. We had both grown to love that house (and neighbors!) so much and had planned on making it our home once we were married. Paying for a wedding and buying a house in the same year wasn’t part of the plan, but neither was moving! My dad told me, “There is never a perfect time for anything” and it’s true. Life is filled with things that happen at the worst possible times (or so it seems), and if you wait around for everything to become perfectly aligned, you’ll probably miss out on some great moments. We compromised, adjusted our wedding budget, made a lot of tough decisions, and had many stressful days (did I mention it was a six-month short sale?), but in the end, we got both our house and a beautiful wedding.
What was one way you saved money or cut costs at your wedding? Todd and I figured out which things were most important to us, splurged on those, and saved on the rest. Something as simple as using the plastic cups the bartender provides versus renting wine glasses can save you a few hundred dollars. There isn’t a single plastic cup in any of our pictures either! We also got married on a Friday, which saved quite a bit on our venue, and more vendors were available and willing to work with us since it wasn’t a Saturday.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you most looking forward to about married life? We are going on a delayed honeymoon in a few months–we haven’t picked a location yet, but we’re thinking about Switzerland or France. We also have a mile-long list of things we want to do to our house!

Hand painted monograms, all-white florals and the most classically perfect navy details? Yes please! Lauren and Jared worked with our darling Blue Ribbon Vendor, Jacqueline from Sweetgrass Social to use personal details that played off the gorgeous Southern scene set by the Legare Waring House. Can you tell I’m smitten? Be sure to catch Lauren’s removable tulle skirt, which added the perfect amount of drama to her look! How fun!

Big hugs to Juliet Elizabeth for sharing such a sweet day with us!

I knew I wanted a dress that had a lace bodice and a simple skirt, but it was hard to find exactly what I was looking for. I visited three stores before going to Modern Trousseau in Charleston, where I was able to combine two dresses to make my custom dress. I also had a two-layer detachable tulle skirt that I decided to wear for only the ceremony and first dance. The first time I tried my dress on, both my mom and I cried–we knew it was perfect.

Describe your wedding flowers. In my mind, the flowers were one of the most important parts of the wedding! I wanted the flowers to be very Southern and match with our color scheme of greens, ivories/creams, and navy. I went to Whitney at Branch Design Studio with my ideas and she created the most beautiful bouquets and arrangements. We decided to use a mix of different arrangements for the tables and incorporated gardenias, magnolias and magnolia leaves, hydrangeas, ranunculus, and navy anemones. We also used a variety of jars, vases, and candle holders in cobalt, mercury glass, and milk glass. All of the flowers were beyond breathtaking!

Y’all may not know this, but I’m completely obsessed with these first touches! They make my heart skip a beat!

The Legare-Waring House was actually the only wedding venue we looked at. We immediately fell in love with the historic Charleston and Southern charm. We especially loved the beauty of the Avenue of Oaks. After visiting, I knew there was nowhere else I could imagine getting married!

What readings, if any, did you have at your ceremony? We had one of our closest friends read Matthew 19:4-6, because we felt it was very important to incorporate Scripture into our ceremony.
Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding and why you chose them. Jared chose “Canon in D” for me to walk down the aisle to because that is his favorite classical song. As a couple, we choose to recess to “I and Love and You” by The Avett Brother, because they are our favorite band and that song has been special to us since we first started dating. Our first dance song was also by The Avett Brothers, and was called “Swept Away (Sentimental Version).” We chose this song after hearing The Avett Brothers perform it at one of their concerts, and we immediately knew it would be our song.

Adorable!

The Southern details in our celebration included the food, monograms, favors, and decorations. The food was buffet-style and consisted of quintessential Southern foods, like barbecue with baked beans, shrimp and grits, and a macaroni and cheese bar. Our appetizers were mini crab cakes, fried green tomato and pimento cheese cornbread sandwiches, and scallop lollipops. I love anything monogrammed, just as any Southern girl does, so I made sure to incorporate that everywhere we could! The favors, which also served as the seating cards, were okra from my dad’s garden that he pickled himself in mason jars.

What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding? Hire a planner, whether it be a full-time planner, part-time planner, or a week-of planner! I do not know how I would have gotten everything done without the help of Jacqueline. It will all go by so quickly, so try as hard as you can to relax the week of the wedding and take all of it in! Don’t let yourself get too stressed out about the little things, focus on the fact that you are getting to marry the love of your life! If your parents are paying for your wedding, be sure to thank them and be grateful for everything they do for you. My wedding would not have been possibly without my gracious and loving parents’ help.

Describe your wedding cake or dessert. The wedding cake was everything I could have ever dreamed of! I went to Molly of D’lish with my ideas for the cake and she sent me a few sample drawings. It was so difficult to choose one because I loved each of the designs she created, so she decided to create a cake design based on all of the sketches. I was a little nervous, but I knew the cake was in excellent hands! On the day of the wedding, when I saw the cake, I almost started crying because it was absolutely perfect. It was also so delicious!

How did y’all meet? Tell us your love story. We met through a friend and bonded over our mutual love of the The OC. After being friends for a few months, Jared asked me to go out for coffee with him. I left for a trip the next day and came back with strep throat, so we did not end up seeing each other for almost a month after our first coffee date! Jared waited that entire time to take me out on our first official date. I knew he was a special guy when he called me every day to check on me. Within two months of dating, we fell in love and knew we were going to get married.
Tell us all about the proposal! Christmas is my favorite holiday and Jared knew I had always wanted to go to the Biltmore Estate at Christmas. We were visiting his parents in South Carolina, and on December 21, we decided to go to Greenville for the day. Outside of Greenville, I asked Jared if we were going the right way, and he said, “I don’t know, why don’t you look at the directions?” I looked down at the directions, and at the bottom, it said Biltmore Estate. We spent the whole day doing various things at the estate, and it even snowed a little bit, which made it even more special. After a candlelight tour of the house, Jared said he wanted to go take a picture of the huge Christmas tree on the lawn. We walked out to it and as he was getting his “camera” out (really the ring), all the lights all over the estate went out! They were out for around ten minutes and then the Christmas tree lights never came back on, so we decided to walk back towards the house. He told me to get my phone out so I could take a picture of the house. Once I looked back over at him, he was on his knee holding the ring. I immediately started crying, and then he proposed and I said yes! The ring is extremely special because the diamond was given to us by my grandmother, who I am very close with. I couldn’t stop smiling. The next thing I knew, his sister popped up and started taking pictures of us. It was a magical, perfect day despite the Christmas tree losing power and changing his proposal plan.
When did y’all get married? March 1, 2014
How many friends, family members, and loved ones attended your wedding? 160
Did you decide to do a “first look”? Why or why not? We decided not to do a first look. We liked the idea of having a very traditional wedding and agreed that we had always wanted to see each other for the first time when I first walked down the aisle. Even though we did not get as many pictures of the two of us together, I will always cherish the moment I first saw Jared at the end of the aisle waiting for me.
Did you write your own vows? If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line? We used traditional vows, and it was very special to use the same vows our parents and grandparents said when they got married.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? The biggest challenge we had to overcome while planning our wedding was the guest list. We originally wanted to have a smaller wedding, but the guest count just kept going up, for many reasons. We had to adjust our plans and budget and reach an agreement.
If you are comfortable responding, what range did your wedding budget fall into? $25,000-$50,000
What was one way you saved money or cut costs at your wedding? One way we saved money was by not renting a custom bar–instead, we had a bar created out of tables and linens. It ended up looking custom because Marisa of Blue Glass Design hand painted our monogram on a navy blue runner. We also saved money by not doing full draping under the tent. We went with partial navy draping, which ended up being beautiful!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? I loved having my mom help me put on my wedding dress and spending time with my bridesmaids while getting ready. However, my most memorable moment was walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Jared at the end waiting for me. It was also very special to have my first dance with Jared and then dance with my dad afterwards.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you most looking forward to about married life? Jared is continuing to work as a pharmacist for the VA. I am going to be starting my final year of college in the fall and will be graduating in May 2015 with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I hope to find a job at an elementary school in Charleston. We are most looking forward to traveling together and getting to experience new places and things as a couple.

Just six weeks prior to Kristen + Clint’s wedding day, they received a call that their bar, Squeeze, was on fire. After watching helplessly for over 18 hours as firefighters calmed the flames, this sweet couple was able to overcome and grow together before their big celebration. Talk about a big challenge while planning your day! Even fire couldn’t bring these two down, though: they had their mobile bar service Squeeze Onsite in tow to create yummy Southern spirits, from lavender-infused lemonade to their signature Southern Charm cocktail, a bourbon-base with local, fresh ingredients and garnishes.

Big SW hugs to Alice Keeney for sharing this lovely day!

I’d have to agree with Kristen’s choice to trust the talented ladies at Ooh! Events to create this stunning bouquet!

My bouquet was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, and was a last minute decision by the gals at Ooh! Events. They called my coordinator the day before the wedding to let her know they had gotten these amazing peonies in, and were dying to use them for my bouquet, instead of what we had planned. I don’t know a thing about flowers, so I 100% trusted the ladies’ suggestions, and wow, did they deliver!

Tell us about finding your wedding dress. I feel like my wedding dress search was pretty laid back. I knew what I wanted (fitted, with straps and a low back), so my search was pretty narrowly focused, and I didn’t have to try on many gowns before “the one” appeared.
Did you decide to do a “first look”? Why or why not? We did not do a first look. To me, it was never an option… call me old-school, but I didn’t want him to see me on our wedding day until I was walking down the aisle. I wanted the butterflies, the anticipation, and the excitement. I wanted to see and feel those emotions as we first caught each others eyes as I was walking towards him.

Did you write your own vows? If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line? With the help of our preacher, we did end up writing our own vows. We were having a hard time feeling a connection between the standard vows and our relationship, so we opted to take bits and pieces from some of the traditional/non-traditional vows we’d seen, and come up with some that fit us best. I think this line sums it up: “I promise to love you always, to listen to you, to respect you, to nourish you with my praise, to never take you for granted, to hold you close in times of hardship, and to share laughter with you in times of joy…”
What readings, if any, did you have at your ceremony? We had one special reading at our ceremony, which was performed by my sister-in-law, Jessie. We aren’t extremely religious people, and didn’t want the ceremony to be solely focused in that direction, so we took this opportunity to express ourselves and the reason for our marriage in this reading. I amended the lyrics to Ziggy Marley’s song, “Love is My Religion,” and made it into a poem. Bottom line, above all else, the main reason for our marriage is love.

We went all out on the set-ups, and they succeeded in wowing our guests. We had two non-alcoholic beverages at the ceremony site in self-serve dispensers: Rosemary and Strawberry Infused Water, and Lavender Infused Lemonade. Cocktail hour’s main focus was a six-drink apothecary bar set-up, flanked by two beer and wine bars. We featured the same two non-alcoholic beverages from the ceremony, and added four of our favorite specialty cocktails from the bar menu: Dark & Stormy, the Southern Charm, Spiked Blueberry Mint Lemonade, and the Sweet Heat ‘Rita. Each drink dispenser was jam-packed with fresh fruit garnishes, creating a great focal point in the avenue of oaks. The main reception bar was actually two 8-foot burlap tufted bars offering high-end liquors and wines, flanking a draft beer bar offering three Southern brews: Highland Gaelic Ale, Holy City Pluff Mud Porter, and Thomas Creek Dockside Pilsner.

What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? Our venue was the perfect Southern element for our wedding. The Legare Waring House is situated on a historic property that was one of the first European settlements in the Carolinas. It is ripe with natural landscaping, sweeping moss, towering oak trees, and natural lagoons. The house itself has old Southern charm in every room, and keeps the traditions and history of the house a main focal point. We also incorporated Southern elements into the food and drink, for our out-of-town guests to get a taste of the South. We built a raw bar specifically for our wedding, and had a good friend of ours from a local restaurant attend the station to shuck raw oysters and prepare oyster shooters all evening for our guests. Appropriately named, the Southern Charm cocktail is bourbon-based with local, fresh ingredients and garnishes. We also offered three Southern beers on tap–The Holy City Pluff Mud Porter is brewed right here in Charleston, SC; Highland Gaelic Ale is from Asheville, North Carolina; and the Thomas Creek Pilsner is made in Greenville, SC.

Describe your wedding cake or dessert. We chose to do a small wedding cake complemented by various other desserts. The cake was a vanilla and coconut cake, with a coconut flake icing. We had mini matching cupcakes in this same flavor, and a few others flavors as well. There were also a few flavors of cookies, miniature tarts and chocolate macaroons.

How did y’all meet? Tell us your love story. Clint and I were introduced by my co-worker and his mutual friend in the fall of 2007, just a few months after I had moved to Charleston. I had accepted my first job there after graduating from Auburn University. After a few months of casual run-ins, and my friend giving him the wrong number on several occasions, we finally connected and he took me out on our first date. Being a local, Clint knew the town and the water very well; we went on a boat ride tour of the city and the surrounding beaches and inlets, followed by dinner at a popular spot downtown I’d been dying to try. That was all it took. For the next five years, we dated off and on between a few bumps in the road and some moves across country, but always found ourselves waiting for the other to catch up.
Tell us all about the proposal! For my Christmas present, Clint bought me (us) a trip to St. Maarten, scheduled for mid-March 2012. On Day two of the trip, after a great day out in the sun and a short trip to sightsee the downtown area, we were getting ready to head out to dinner and out for the evening. Clint had bought a bottle of champagne earlier in the day (my drink of choice), and had a few glasses poured to have a drink on the balcony of our hotel before we headed out. We sat on the balcony watching planes land, looking at the stars, listening to Bob Marley on the iPhone, sipping champagne and have a sweet conversation about our life. After close to an hour, I don’t remember exactly what he said, but with tears in his eyes, he picked me up off his lap, set me in the chair next to him, got down on one knee and barley got the words out “…..marry me?” I didn’t say yes, I didn’t look at the ring, I just grabbed him and hugged him and cried and said “I love you.” Then I was reminded I needed to answer the question (yes!), and according to Clint, “look at the damn ring!” It wasn’t over-complicated or over-thought; it was just us and it was just perfect.

Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding and why you chose them. The girl who played our ceremony music and the first dance song, Caxton Beaty, is a close friend of ours that we have gotten to know over the past year and a half. We particularly chose her to sing and play the acoustic guitar at our wedding because it meant something to us, and her voice is so genuine and unique. She definitely has her own style, and we loved that aspect of every song she sang for us. We own a bar in downtown Charleston called Squeeze, and Caxton has been our “House Musician,” playing every weekend for the past year. Our bar was in a massive fire in April of this year, and we are currently still shut down. All of the employees of our small space are extremely close, and having Caxton be a part of our wedding with her musical talent was just incredible. The song we chose for the bridal party processional was “Fly Me To The Moon” by Frank Sinatra. It is such a beautiful song with perfect lyrics for a wedding. The bridal processional song was “Marry Me” by Train. Caxton learned this song for us, and we selected just a section of the lyrics best fit for her to play as I walked down the aisle. The recessional song was “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes. I wanted the celebration to begin as we were announced husband and wife, so Caxton started the song in the middle, with the verse “…this is the first day of my life”, and rocked it out. I wanted to walk down the aisle with her jamming away and people celebrating and clapping in the background, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Our first dance song was an original medley that Caxton put together for us. It was a combination of “Can’t Take my Eyes Off of You” by Frankie Valli and transitioned into “Is this Love” by Bob Marley. If you’ve ever seen the movie “10 Things I Hate About You,” you know the first song! I hate to admit this, but these song choices and the medley idea were completely Clint’s thinking and Caxton’s talent in putting them together for us. We didn’t want to dance to 3-4 songs with each family member, and we didn’t want to be dancing too long ourselves–we’re not the best dancers! So, we opted for this medley to shorten the dancing time, and knock it out all at once. Clint and I danced to the first song together, and when Caxton transitioned to the second part of the song, we each broke away and invited our parents to join us on the dance floor and dance as couples alongside us.
Describe your wedding flowers. Our wedding flowers were one of the main touches of color we had at the wedding. They complemented all the neutral tones by adding that beautiful pop of color in just the right places without being overbearing. My bouquet was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, and was a last minute decision by the gals at Out of Hand. They called my coordinator the day before the wedding to let her know they had gotten these amazing peonies in, and were dying to use them for my bouquet, instead of what we had planned. I don’t know a thing about flowers, so I 100% trusted the ladies’ suggestions, and wow, did they deliver!
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Squeeze OnSite handled the bar service, and the set-up and offerings were by far the highlight of the wedding for us. Being able to show our friends and family what we do best was amazing (and for those that had never been to our actual bar, it was a great opportunity to give them a taste of what we do).
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? On April 2, 2013 at 12:48 AM, six weeks prior to our wedding, Clint received a phone call from a good friend of ours that our bar, Squeeze, was on fire. The bar had been open and Clint’s brother was working when a loud noise above our space startled him and our customers. Within minutes, smoke started pouring into the space from the air ducts, and left everyone running for the street. Clint and I arrived on the scene within a few minutes of the phone call, and stood there for the next 18 hours, completely helpless. Smoke was pouring from the windows on the floor above ours, flames shot high into the sky, and firetrucks set up shop like a movie scene. It was an unbelievable sight, and one that neither of us will forget. It took four hours for the fire to be put out, all the while, we just stood there, staring at our life burning down in flames before our eyes. The devastation and loss we both felt was like someone had died. We were strong together, and for each other, and that I think made us even stronger as a couple.
If you are comfortable responding, what range did your wedding budget fall into? $50,000-$75,000
What is the one detail or vendor that you were so happy to have as a part of your wedding? Without a doubt, having Sarah & Brent from Film Anywhere Productions at our wedding was the best decision we ever made. I hadn’t thought twice about hiring a videographer, it never crossed my mind that it was something I should consider. About a month before our wedding, a friend highly recommended Film Anywhere, and introduced Clint and I to them at an industry event. After hearing our friend’s short pitch as to why we should hire them, it was a no-brainer, and we signed on a few days later. Now, neither of us can imagine what we were thinking before, and are so happy we decided to go the videographer route. The Same Day Edit video had our guests and us in tears of happiness, and was such a memorable moment on our wedding day. We can’t wait to see the full video, and share it with our family and friends (and maybe kids someday) for years to come.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? The most memorable moment of our wedding day was at the end of the reception. Our videographers edited a video on-site as they filmed throughout the day, and then showed everyone the “Same Day Edit” on a large screen just before we made our exit. I had held it together pretty well throughout the day and was able to fight back my happy tears until I saw the video. I think every emotion came out of me that I’d been holding in, and I became a sobbing mess, with one heck of a case of the ugly cry. Clint and my mom both held me tight and wiped my tears away. What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding? There are some things that are just beyond your control, so just let them be. Remember, rain or shine, at the end of the day the important thing is… you’re married. :)
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you most looking forward to about married life? I made the mistake of asking Clint this question, and his response was ,”Vacation and retirement.” We’ve got plenty of years before retirement, but I’ll agree with him on the vacation aspect! We love, love, love to travel. Anything with saltwater, sand, and sunshine, and we’re in. We’re looking forward to exploring new places, having new experiences together, and having many “firsts” as a family!

This couple are two of our vendors for our company so we know them well. It broke our hearts when their bar burned. But what a beautiful story of perseverance and redemption. They are beautiful and hard working folk and it thrills us to see them wed. We look forward to watching Kristen and Clint’s marriage grow like wildfire! We couldn’t imagine our venue team without them…..they are the best! “Two are better than one” so great things are ahead for this sweet Mr. and Mrs! Well done, y’all.

[…] When it came to the beverages, this wedding had it all: Pre-ceremony refreshments, a specialty cocktail bar with 6 offerings, local draft beers on tap and oyster shooters shucked and made-to-order, all to accompany their regular full bar offerings of premium liquors, bottled beer, wines, champagne and refreshments. We couldn’t have been more excited to throw one heck of a party for Kristen & Clint at The Legare Waring House to celebrate their wedding. This feature from Southern Weddings Magazine is just a sneak peak of all they had planned for their guests! Read More […]
