Today’s bride has got some serious style! A look through these shots by Captured Photography and you’ll agree! Though her dress and shoes may look familiar, she makes it all her own. Those bold blue Manolos were made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City, but we love how they match the J. Crew bridesmaids dresses and pop against the white florals by Glenn Yee in this wedding. Everything came together beautifully at the Miami Beach Community Church ceremony, didn’t it?

Fun fact: the bride looked gorgeous in Vera Wang, giving Khloe Kardashian and Hillary Duff, who wore the same dress at their weddings, some competition!

How did the two of you meet? Charlie and I have known each other for 13 years. Charlie was Sigma Chi fraternity brothers with my brothers, Patrick and Kris, at Furman University. Charlie was also college roommates with Patrick for 3 years at Furman. In 2005, Charlie moved to Miami after living three years in Atlanta after college. Shortly after his move, we started hanging out socially, and then started dating. The rest is history. Charlie has always been very close with my brothers and my parents so we had both their blessings on our marriage.
Describe the proposal. (From the groom) Michael and I took a trip to Key West (one of our favorite spots). The original plan was to propose on a secluded beach during the sunset. When we got there, Michael decided that it was not a good location to see the sunset, so we went to dinner instead. The backup plan was then to propose during dinner, but Michael and I did not enjoy the food, the wait staff or the atmosphere. After talking Michael out of getting dessert at the restaurant, we stopped to get some key lime pie and eat it while enjoying wine on the porch of the bed and breakfast we were staying at. After opening the wine, I slipped the ring on my pinky finger and offered Michael a glass. I don’t know if it was the five years of waiting or just the total disbelief that it would ever happen, but she was in shock and immediately started crying. I guess she said “yes” because we are now married.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Beautiful, amazing, elegant.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: The bridal table that seated 34 – it was breath taking. The lighting contractor took the damask pattern that was on the table’s runner and mimicked it over the entire table and center flooring of the room.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: My mother, my aunt, my mother’s best friend, my friend, my sister-in-law, and my wedding planner and I all went to NYC to find the perfect dress. We went to several designer’s showrooms and stores and found the dress on the very last day at Vera Wang. I tried on several gowns and I finally decided on a mermaid style, very simple with a bit of drama on the bottom on the gown. We added a Vera Wang crystal belt to add some bling. It was perfect, and I felt beautiful in it. The gown was actually worn by Hillary Duff and Khloe Kardashian in their weddings, but our choice to include the belt and restructure the top of the dress made it my very own fairy tale dress!

I LOVE this wedding! Kudos to swmag for featuring different styles of weddings. Some sites I frequent post basically the same weddings (outdoor, vintage, tons of mason jars everywhere) over and over. Not that there’s anything at all wrong with that style….but I like a little variety :)

      Thank you!!

Andrea + Tres’ evening nuptials at the Southern Oaks Plantation in New Orleans combines a touch of glam with down-South charm. Andrea walked down the aisle with a beautiful bouquet of white roses, courtesy of Fat Cat Flowers, and some killer blue Christian Louboutin pumps. I love that Andrea had her nine bridesmaids, wearing Watters dresses, carry single magnolia blooms down the aisle. The newlyweds rode away in a horse and carriage after being pronounced husband and wife as fireworks shot off in the background–now that’s the way to celebrate a marriage! Thanks Armosa Studios for sharing this gem!

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. We met at work. Tres had just moved to Memphis from Knoxville, and a big group of our work friends were going to dinner after work. After dinner, the two of us got into deep conversation. We were having so much fun talking to each other that when we finally looked up, all of our friends had left!
Describe the proposal. It was perfect. We had just left Napa Valley after wine tasting for a few days and were headed to San Francisco for the rest of the week. We drove to a park overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, and Tres asked me there. Aside from the wedding, it was the most exciting day of my life. There’s a funny story that I have to mention, though. Tres set up the video camera so we could wave into it in front of the Golden Gate Bridge when what he really wanted was for our proposal to be on camera so my parents could see it when we returned. After the proposal, we couldn’t wait to watch it. We got in the car and turned on the camera. The shot of us waving was perfect, but literally the second Tres got down on his knee to propose, the wind moved the camera so that the only thing seen was the Golden Gate Bridge. We still laugh about it and, bridge or not, I love that we have some of it on camera!
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Timeless, fun, perfection
What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? Everything about our wedding was Southern! Our theme was Southern vintage, and our venue, Southern Oaks Plantation, set the tone for all the details. The front lawn of the antebellum home served as our ceremony site with a horse and carriage incorporated into the ceremony. Magnolias played a big role in our wedding, as I’m from Mississippi, and it’s the state flower. My girls carried magnolias down the aisle, and magnolias were also included on our invitations and our wedding cake. To give the guys a Southern touch, they wore cotton bloom boutonnieres. The food was completely New Orleans style with everything from jambalaya and gumbo to crawfish and oysters being served.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I went to Atlanta to find the dress of my dreams with my my mom, grandmother, aunt and cousin, who all came in from Austin, TX. It only took two places and about 10 dresses before I put on the one I loved most. I knew I wanted a dropped waist silhouette and a sweetheart neckline, but not taffeta. Well, the perfect dress just happened to be taffeta! My advice? Never say never!

I really love the black and white here! So elegant and beautiful! Especially the centerpieces!

I just love the seamless incorporation of a relaxed lounge area in the reception space. Unlike many other wedding and reception photos I’ve seen, the lounge space is intermingled with the dining tables, and almost resembles them as well. This looks like a great place to catch up with some guests you haven’t talked to or weren’t sitting with! Also, the entire black and white motif is gorgeous!

I’d love to know where they found the “J” and “k”. I’ve been looking for something similar for our wedding in May.
