Welcome back to our current “Sit a Spell” series, where we Southern Weddings gals have been taking turns designing bridal showers for each other! Currently, only Miss Emily is engaged, but I am leaning toward throwing this shower anyway!

After a brief hiatus, I’m back with the final post in our Sit a Spell: Dream Bridal Showers series! As you may know, our dear sweet Nicole loves the colors orange. So against my ‘Bama judgement, I am putting my dislike for anything Auburn or Tennessee-ish and imagining a bright, and completely orange, citrus soiree for my girl.

Imagine, if you will, a slow Southern Saturday afternoon filled with best friends chatting, peach mojitos (um, yes please!), and of course a fabulous desert bar! I’d set the stage by sending out adorable letterpress and polka dot invitations from The Lettered Olive (2) to all of Nicole’s friends. Then, when the girls arrive, they’d be greeted with a cool drink (4) and the sweet smell of fresh citrus on the lush lawn of a fabulous home. I might arrange for this home to back up to a lake or the ocean – this is, after all, a dream shower!

We’d spend the afternoon gushing over how Nicole will be going on a month-long European adventure with her beau and playing cornhole (on custom orange monogram boards, of course!). I’d also love to have some kind of DIY craft project, like stenciling individual monograms onto colorful totes (5). Totally doable, right? Anyone else want to make this shower a reality ASAP? I sure do!

I’d also love to gift these ridiculously adorable J. Crew ladybug earrings to bring Nicole good luck with her marriage! And, I might be known for going over board, so I was thinking of throwing in a baby pug for all the party-goers, a la Bridesmaids! Nicole, you’d be fine with this, right?

What do you think about a monochromatic bridal shower?

Gorgeous concept, Marissa! I am loving orange this season, and I’d love this shower for Nicole! :)

Thanks, Elizabeth! I had a lot of help from Miss Emily! And I agree, I think we need to throw this party anyways!

I absolutely love orange! I also happen to be a big UT fan, so it works out nicely. ;) Those flowers are gorgeous, and as a former pug owner, I just can’t get enough of those little guys!

Beautiful colours. This inspiration board has so many elements that i wanna snag. I love the font on that stationery!

Welcome back to our current “Sit a Spell” series, where the Southern Weddings gals have been taking turns designing bridal showers for each other! As I’m sure you already know, Marissa‘s already married to her college sweetheart, but I couldn’t resist creating a second dream bridal shower for her to invite all those baseball wives to!

One thing you should know about Marissa is she is one fashionable Southern gal from Alabama! While I almost went with a full out Lilly Pulitzer themed shower (did any of y’all have one?), I chose a “Lazy Afternoon” theme, inspired by a sorority event we have each semester in which you don your best sundress and cowboy boots to shag dance the whole afternoon. It really is a lot of fun!

Marissa’s preppy outdoor party is complete with pink (her favorite color), bows, doilies, mason jars, monograms and yummy biscuits!

While eating brunch and sipping on delicious drinks, guests would play “Bridal Bingo,” where you either had spots on the board with phrases like “elementary school friend” or “college roommate” that give you more information about how each person knows Marissa (which could prompt fun stories), or you could just have a board with wedding terms like “bouquet.” The winner would get a Lilly Pulitzer gift such as pencils or a mug.

We would collect recipes from each guest to put on cards and then turn into a little recipe book (my friends did this at a recent shower, and it was adorable!). No lazy afternoon would be complete without music, so there would be music playing, and we’ll play a few rounds of “name that tune” with an iTunes gift card for the winner. You could even have each guest submit a song for Marissa and put a CD together to give her.

Guests will take home these monogramed engraved keychains (a friend gave me one with a Carolina blue bow, and I love it!) and a boxed cupcake for the road.

Get to know more about Marissa here and here!

If you’ve already had a bridal shower, what was it like? What would your dream bridal shower look like?

We couldn’t think of a better way to end Derby Week on Southern Weddings than with a Derby-inspired brunch!

Photographer Sarah E. Evans and planner Tamara of Whimsical Creations by Tamara teamed up to bring us this shoot, filled with our favorite Southern things–mint juleps, biscuits and honey! The shoot took place at the Haley Farm in San Augustine, Texas, where, appropriately, 13 horses reside. We can’t think of a more bucolic place to host a bridesmaids’ lunch or bridal shower!

Thank you, Tamara and Sarah!

Will y’all be watching the Derby this Saturday? I’m hoping “Pants on Fire” wins — what a name! See the horse line-up here, then comment below with your favorite!

Oh – love this! Especially the big flowered hat and the purple and green sheaths. Great minds and all… I did a Sunday Hat Birthday Brunch where I asked my guests to wear their best hats based on the book “Crowns.” I found an awesome purple hat at Bolling AFB that I wore with a kelly green dress and eggplant purple wrap. *sigh* That was one of my best birthdays. :)
