Oldfield Club

by in on

When we’re traveling for a shoot, it isn’t easy to find a place that can house a bunch of people and boxes upon boxes of props, AND has the space where we can gather our lovely reader models for hair and makeup. When Emily and I headed to Hilton Head a few weeks ago, we found ourselves in that same predicament (can anyone looking for wedding weekend accommodations relate to that?)…until we remembered the Oldfield Club! Emily has great memories of traveling to Oldfield for V6’s Southern Charm editorial, and I was excited to experience it for myself. Along with our photographer, calligrapher, stylist, stylist’s assistant, and Emily’s baby girl, we couldn’t have been more delighted with our time spent in one of Oldfield Club’s gorgeous Golf Cottages while we were in Hilton Head. Davy Whitener was kind enough to snap some pictures for us so that we could give y’all a proper tour today!

I’m a big believer in the value of properties and venues creating an experience from the moment you arrive, and the long driveway leading to the Oldfield Club cottages did just that, thanks to the impeccably manicured lawns and the Spanish moss-covered oaks that lined the road. I think anyone visiting from outside of the South would especially be mesmerized!

Our cottage opened to a spacious kitchen, dining room, and living room, complete with lots of comfy seating. This worked out so well not only for last-minute shoot prep and day-of hair and makeup, but also for fun takeout pizza dinners for our team and the most relaxing post-shoot activity I can think of (watching The Bachelorette, of course!). We took advantage of the gorgeous back porch for breakfast, too!

There are a number of cottages at Oldfield Club that can fit different numbers of people and needs, but ours in particular had four big bedrooms (including one in a separate carriage house right next door), all with connected bathrooms. It couldn’t have been a better set-up for our crew, and I think any big group would be able to say the same–this cottage would be perfect for bridal parties or multiple families to stay in while attending a Hilton Head destination wedding. P.S. I’ll be honest with y’all–being pregnant has made me darn picky about beds, but I slept so well in this one!

While we were only in town for two short days before we had to head back to the office, I would have loved to stick around a little longer to experience some of the amenities on the property–Oldfield Club offers golf, horseback rides, river cruises, and bike and kayak rentals. Let us know if you head there and experience any for yourself–I’m sure they’d be so much fun! And while there’s no shortage of activities to try, it would also be easy to spend an entire weekend on the back porch…whatever your heart desires :)
