The idea of a rainy wedding day is an idea no bride likes to entertain…and being rained on literally as you say your vows? I daresay most would think of that as a bad thing, but when the forecast called for summer showers on Kathryn and Derek’s Southport wedding day, they admirably decided to embrace whatever the skies sent their way. Sure enough, Kathryn and Derek, as well as all of their guests, were soaked through by the end of their ceremony, but I imagine that sharing their first kiss as husband and wife in the pouring rain made it all worth it!

Thanks so much to our friends at Blueberry Creative for sharing this sweet video with us!

From the bride:

Throughout the entire wedding morning, we kept a close eye on the possibility of an afternoon rain shower–a regular occurrence during summer months at the North Carolina coast. With no “plan B,” we knew whatever was coming our way, we would have to embrace. And during the ceremony, we did just that.

While exchanging our vows, the small drips of rain we began to feel on our shoulders quickly transitioned to a full-out summer shower. In that moment, with the rain pouring down and our guests huddling under umbrellas or running off to gather under the back porch, we just laughed and knew that it was simply meant to be. This was by far our most memorable moment, not only for the obvious reasons, but also for the way that it set the tone for the rest of our night. Some couples may not be able to imagine what they would do if it rained on their wedding day, but looking back, we wouldn’t change a thing.

I love that everyone was happy and soaked by the end of the ceremony! Rain shouldn’t get in the way on your wedding day, only adds to it!

Y’all know it takes all my willpower to keep from ugly crying during some wedding videos, but when it comes to Callie and Jamie’s by Heart Stone Films, I don’t even bother trying. Everything about this day was so meaningful and beautiful, but nothing compares to hearing the touching words from Callie’s dad and their dear friend who officiated the ceremony, and seeing the pure joy on Callie and Jamie’s faces as they became husband and wife, surrounded by the people who love them most.

Thank you so much to our Blue Ribbon Vendor, Heart Stone Films, for capturing this special day so beautifully and sharing it with us!

I have always been known to cry over a good wedding video, but I must admit–the closer my own wedding day gets (five months, y’all!!), any ounce of strength to resist tears that I had before is dwindling by the day. And when it came to this gorgeous film by The Film Poets? Let’s just say it’s a good thing I first watched it at home instead of in the office! The joy that Katherine and Kyle clearly have in each other is so beautiful, and their Alabama wedding struck the loveliest balance of sentimental and celebratory. Plus, hats off to Kyle’s mama for delivering one of the sweetest speeches I’ve ever heard!

From the bride:

We met at a small café in Venice, California. Kyle used to play guitar there on Saturday nights for open mic night. My friends and I would go to watch people perform, and as soon as I heard him playing country music, I knew I had to meet him. He later told me that as soon as he saw my brown cowboy boots, he thought, “I need to get to know her!” After a few weeks of catching each other’s eyes, I went up and introduced myself after one of his performances. We’ve been together ever since!

Our wedding was a true labor of love! We planned for over a year, and flipped the lake point from a beautiful ceremony site to an elegant seated dinner. After the ceremony, Kyle and I stayed inside to grab a quick bite to eat and spend some time alone together before the reception. When they called us out and we saw the transformation that had taken place, it took our breath away! It was unforgettable!

Such a beautiful story and wedding. The reading by the mom is a mom who truly loves her son. I can only hope to marry a man one day who has the love his mom like Kyle
