Hope you had the happiest Thanksgiving, belles! We’re ready to welcome the Christmas season with open arms, and especially since some of y’all have already been asking about it, I’m excited to announce that we’ll be hosting the annual Southern Weddings Ornament Swap for the seventh year in a row!

Here’s how it will work (please read carefully!):

1. By Monday, December 7: Email lisa@southernweddings.com with “2015 Ornament Swap” in the subject line. Include your name, mailing address, email address, website/blog address, and Instagram handle.
2. By Wednesday, December 9: I will have emailed you the names and addresses of up to five people to send ornaments to. Yep, that means you’ll be sending up to five ornaments, and you’ll be receiving up to five in return!
3. By Monday, December 14: Be sure to send out your ornaments no later than this date! Then, all that’s left to do is wait for the holiday goodness to roll in.

Your ornaments can be homemade or store-bought, and we suggest that you make them as Southern as possible :)

If you have any questions, leave a comment on this post or email me at lisa@southernweddings.com–we can’t wait to see the ornaments y’all share this year!

Even with all of the excitement over the magazine launching, we’re already looking ahead to another one of our favorite yearly traditions: Gingerbread Barns! We are absolutely delighted to be back at The Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill for our fifth annual barn building event, and cannot WAIT to see the creativity y’all will bring this year!

We’ll be pulling out our favorite holiday aprons for a night of gingerbread barn building fun at the lovely Carolina Inn on Wednesday, December 2. Please RSVP if you’re planning to join us, so we know how many graham crackers to purchase and how much frosting to secure! Everyone is invited, and most attendees choose to work in groups, so grab your best friends, your mama, or your sweet man! (Just make sure everyone in your group purchases a ticket individually!)

Not familiar with this SW holiday tradition? Take a peek at last year’s recap for some inspiration. For the last few years, many people have come armed with building plans and their own holiday aprons–we love the enthusiasm! Y’all bowl us away every year with your creativity!!

We hope to see you there on December 2 – can’t wait to squeeze some of our local friends!

We know y’all have been eagerly awaiting this news, and I admit, it has been hard to keep it under wraps for this long! Without any further ado, we’re overjoyed to invite you (yes, you!) to the Southern Weddings V8 Launch Party!!

Invitation design by Blue Ribbon Vendor, Scotti Cline Designs

We’ll be celebrating the launch of our new issue with a fancier-than-fried-chicken soirée at The Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, NC on November 12, starting at 7:00 P.M. There will be live music, snacks and treats inspired by this issue, fun swag, and of course, some of the sweetest folks in the South, from our sponsor family members, to beloved Blue Ribbon Vendors, to many of our darling readers! The party is open to everyone, but you MUST RSVP and purchase a ticket ahead of time in order to attend. Our last three launch parties (see them here, here, and here!) have sold out quickly, and we know this one will too, so if you want to join us, please pick up a ticket ASAP!

We like to get a little fancy, so don’t be afraid to don your Sunday best! In celebration of V8’s cover (which we’ll be revealing really soon!), we invite you to come dressed in your finest rose gold, silver, gold, peach, or black and white duds.

If you are one of our many friends traveling in from out of town, there are plenty of options in the area, including the lovely accommodations at The Carolina Inn. They have kindly given us a special rate, so to reserve your room, please click here or mention that you will be booking under the “Southern Weddings Magazine” rate, if booking over the phone. We’d also recommend checking The Franklin Hotel and the Aloft Chapel Hill, both of which are nearby.

Can’t make it to the party? Check out the fun on our Periscope and UStream channel, which will be broadcasting live that night! Tune in for our welcome and speeches around 7:45 P.M. EST.

We can’t wait to hug you! Comment below and let us know if we’ll see you there!
