We’ve photographed all of our editorials, filled almost all of our real wedding slots, and sold almost all of our ads. That can only mean one thing: it’s almost time to celebrate the next issue of Southern Weddings at the V9 launch party!

This year, the V9 launch party will be the same day the issue hits newsstands: November 10! We could not be more excited to return to our perfectly Southern party location, the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, for this fun and festive evening. We’re hoping YOU will join us, so pull out those planners and mark this date down!

And, if you’re traveling in, we recommend you book your hotel room EARLY. Our launch party just so happens to be on the same day as a Duke-Carolina football game (rest assured, there will be a live screen at the party!), so hotel rooms at the Carolina Inn are going to move faster than butter melting on a biscuit. To book yours at our discounted rate of $179, click here. This rate will only be available until September 11, or until rooms sell out!

MUCH more information to come soon, including our color scheme once we decide on a cover (!!!), but if you’re interested in signing on as a sponsor of V9 or a sponsor of our launch party, email Marissa (marissa at southernweddings.com) lickety-split. We would all love to hear from you!!

Yay! The same day one of my best friends marries her soon to be hubby! :) I gave her a copy of V8 as part of her engagement gift when he popped the question! :)

At Southern Weddings, we love that we not only have bride readers (hey, friends!), but bridesmaids, maid of honors, college gals, and moms, too! If you fall into one of those other categories, the first ever SW webinar is for you!

Join Lisa and I this Tuesday for a one-hour lunchtime chat about all things maid of honor and bridesmaid. We’ll be talking about:

— the duties of a bridesmaid and a maid of honor
— what to do if you have both a maid and matron of honor
— a few wonderful “extras” you can do to go above and beyond for your bride
— our suggestions for troubleshooting stickier topics, like bridal party finances and etiquette issues

And, we’ll end with an open Q&A time!

This webinar is FREE! Click here to register. The first 500 guests can join us live on Tuesday at noon. If you can’t make it on Tuesday or if we have more than 500 ladies registered, a replay of the webinar will be sent to you shortly afterwards!

A webinar like this is something new for us, so we hope you love it! If you have topics you’d like us to cover in future webinars, drop a note in the comments below. We’re excited to chat with you all next week!

A few weeks ago, we gathered at the beautiful Carolina Inn to enjoy one of our favorite Southern Weddings Christmas traditions–our annual Gingerbread Barn Building Competition! It’s the perfect way to kick off the festive season, and we’re always impressed with the creations y’all devise. (In fact, I’m kind of glad my role as judge keeps me out of the competition!)

Big hugs to Taylor Lovette of Blue Barn Photography, who captured every graham cracker roof, pretzel path, and animal cracker reindeer!

With Lisa home with flu-like symptoms and Kristin at home in Florida, it was just Nicole, Lara, and I on duty to greet our largest crowd ever! We were so glad that many friends joined us in donning festive aprons – a Gingerbread Barns staple.

As construction got underway, it was so fun to see blueprints and napkin sketches come to life. Inspiration ranged from a family farm, to the retirement dream of two friends, to the Biltmore Estate, to a favorite flea market!

Yes, that’s what the creators dubbed a “barñata”!

After some impromptu caroling by our youngest guests (that’s Lara’s daughter Grace up there on the right!) and lots of deliberation between Nicole and myself, we handed out the grand prize and honorable mentions, including Most Architecturally Creative, Most Structurally Sound, and Best Story. The competition is fierce for every category!

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us at this year’s competition, and to The Carolina Inn for hosting us all–we can’t wait to see what y’all come up with next year!
