Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

Happy Friday, my friends! While you’re settling into the New Year, why don’t you also try winning a few fabulous giveaways? And by fabulous, I mean so spectacular you’ll want to squeal.

The first one up: a Chaviano Couture giveaway. Bridal designer Annette Thurmon not only modeled for our V2 Watercolor shoot, but she just happened to make Katharine’s custom veil for her September ’10 wedding. Yup, she’s talented—and she wants to give you a custom cocktail dress. Go to the original post and tell us what your dream dress would look like. Get creative! The top four ideas will be sketched by Annette and then posted here for you to vote on!

For all future military brides and grooms: Winc Vermont is giving away a wedding ceremony and reception to any man or woman actively serving in the military for the Honor our Heroes America program. Go here and tell Winc Vermont your story, why it’s important for you to serve your country, and upload a photo of you and your fiancé/fiancée.

One more great offer: One of our favorite paper designers (and Emily’s birthday twin), Emily Ley is offering a special discount for SW readers! Emily Ley Paper digital wedding crests are a great way to personalize your wedding, especially for any DIY details you might include!

SW readers can get a personalized crest, originally $100, for $60. You’ll will receive 4 personalized high-resolution JPEGs (two color and two black and white — large and small versions of both) that can be easily inserted in any computer program like Microsoft Word or Publisher. To order yours, email [email protected] with the crest, color and personalization of your choice. Make sure to mention this post and they’ll take it from there!

And in case you missed it: Emily’s Paper Pick of the Week will make you a little hungry. The French macaron-inspired invitation suite from Truly Smitten has us reminiscing about the Sucre macarons that sweetened up a V2 spread shot by Jory Cordy.

Be sure to enter to win a copy of V3 from Cassandre Snyder Events! Cassandre is hosting a fabulous giveaway with lots of wedding lovelies!

That’s it for today, y’all! Have a lovely weekend and see you next week!

Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

Don’t you love that New Year’s Eve is on Friday this year? I love the idea of starting a new year, new week and new outlook all at once. Today, we’re not only rounding up this week’s blog features, but we’re rounding out the year to welcome in 2011.

Katharine covered another wedding tradition this week: the choice to keep or change your last name in marriage. Katharine decided to keep her last name instead of taking her husband’s. What are your thoughts? Go to the post to weigh in on the war of names.

Emily reflected on the past year with a post full of her favorite experiences. Hot air balloons, two weddings, and Engage10 :: The Breakers. Yup, those sound like experiences I’d never forget either!

Katharine went from Harvard grad to SW editor and bride in one year! In between, there were weddings to plan, her brother’s graduation, bridal showers, and more!

To end the year, we all took a trip to see Santa! Here’s what we asked him for Christmas.

Happy Friday and happy New Year! Does anyone have a cool New Year’s Resolution or highlights from the past year?

P.S. Don’t forget…only a few more hours to submit your photos to our Mega Photo Contest!

Weekly Round-Up

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!! I hope y’all have finished your Christmas shopping, wrapped all the presents, and spread some peace on Earth. If you’ve been a little busy with the holiday excitement or need a pick-me-up from packed malls and crazy traffic, you’ve come to the right place. (P.S. Did anyone know that Tuesday was National Bah Humbug day?)

Before we continue with the Round-Up, take a couple of minutes to look at this super-cool stop motion wedding video from photographers Bayly & Moore in New Zealand. I’ve never seen a stop motion wedding video until Marissa passed this along. I love stop motion because each frame is significant and part of a story. My favorite part? The groom and his groomsmen dancing about 2 minutes in. You know you love fun groomsmen, too.

On to the blog!

This week, Emily’s bunting romance continues with her Handmade Find. We can’t blame her though, because Pretty Swell’s take on bunting is well, pretty swell. (Too corny?) Their fabric flower garlands and cake toppers are too cute and totally customizable. Just look at their color selection!

Katharine’s bling spotlight for the week was inspired by Jessica Simpson’s nontraditional engagement ring. Head to the post to take a look at all the sparkle, Katharine’s favorites, and weigh in on the nontraditional ring.

That’s it for this week! Have a Southern Christmas y’all! What’s that? You want us to sing it to you? Okay…
