V3 Feature :: Sweet Love

by in Inspirations, Main on

This shoot was the first we’d ever featured in print that was not organized and executed in house. That was a little scary for us! We take the cohesiveness of our print editions extremely seriously, and not having control over every little decision in the days leading up to and at the shoot was a new experience.

BUT, we shouldn’t have worried. “Sweet Love” was the very, very beautiful result of a collaboration between Nancy Park of So Happi Together and fab photographer Amelia Lyon. They brought together a ridiculously awesome team of vendors, and, in the end, produced a shoot was turned out to be one of our favorite features in V3. You will NOT want to miss the gallery for this one, folks — there was so much goodness we didn’t have room to share in print! Click here to see it all!

The talented vendors involved:

    Thank you SO much for the feature and your kind words. I had no idea until now that we were the first shoot you featured that was not an in-house production and that makes me feel even more honored and blessed than I already am! Thank you a million times over for believing in our work. xoxo!

It’s a new year! We’re so happy that you’re here, reading along with us, and that you allow us to share your journey to the altar with you. To share a little more of our journey, we thought we’d each take a moment to let you in on our personal resolutions for 2011.

Lara: I am very excited about 2011. I am committed to not traveling as much, spending more time giving back and enjoying life with my husband, and being the best friend, boss, sister, wife, and daughter I can be. Read all about my 2011 Goals – and how I created them – on the Making Things Happen Tumblr.

Emily: I am ALL about resolutions. Love them! Case in point: for the last three years, I kept busy completing a set of 101 in 1001 challenges. To see the set of challenges I started in 2008, click here; to see the set I started two days ago, click here!) Why do I do this? For me, it’s a way to make sure that life is not just zipping right on by. Every day (per my life motto), I try to “Learn something new, do something kind, and see something beautiful.” It’s something my great aunt always said. In addition to hitting those three marks every day, in 2011 I would like to continue to seek out the best possible content to share on the SW blog and in print, and to continue to foster relationships between readers, and between readers and our staff. We know so many of you are out there, and we’d love to hear from even more of you! Cheers to an amazing 2011!

Katharine: After the past year I’ve had, I’m almost afraid to look ahead to the next. 2010 alone, I became a fiance, bride and wife, and am certain (hoping!) 2011 won’t be anywhere near as eventful. As Kyle and I settle into our first year as Mr. and Mrs. Gibler, I am committed, above all, to living out my wedding vows each and every day. Like I did on our wedding day in September, I promise to put my husband first and to make our life together my most significant undertaking and greatest achievement. (Pithy paraphrase of my vows to Kyle.) Other, less daunting tasks? I’m still working on wearing real clothes in lieu of my favorite gym threads (and, on a really rough day, even my fuzzy PJs) to work. I’m proud to report I made considerable strides in 2010, starting with the purchase of proper closed-toed shoes. (Side note from Emily: So TRUE! KTW made great strides in this arena last year :) I stuck to last year’s promise to hit the gym or go for a run at least six times a week, and my body + mind have been thanking me for it. I’m resolved to keep doing that in 2011; consider it a New Year’s present to myself. (In my defense, wearing my workout clothes to work increases the likelihood that I make it to the gym at least tenfold, so Resolutions 2 and 3 kind of work against one another. I’m eager to find the perfect balance in 2011!) Lastly, I hope to make the most of the upcoming days, weeks and months as I navigate my way through the new transitions 2010 brought.

Stay tuned for more from this beautiful wedding by Abby Jiu in the coming weeks!

Happy New Year’s Eve!

by in In The Office, Main on

That’s right, ladies + gents! It’s the last day of 2010!

Crazy how quickly the year has flown, isn’t it? To recap, Lara, Katharine, and I each took a look back at a few of our favorite moments, both personal and professional, from 2010. Click here to read Katharine’s post, here to read Lara’s (massively epic!) post, and here to read mine! And tune in on Monday for our 2011 resolutions!

P.S. We just couldn’t resist sticking a New Year’s hat on Paulina after we saw how cute we looked in her Santa hat :) Thanks, Nicole, for your graphic wizardry!
