I LOVE (love love) that Ali + Matt had a theme without being too “theme-y.” Since Matt travels for work during the week, they wanted to bring a feeling of “house and home” to their whole celebration, and I think they did it in a really unique way — incorporating tea kettles and keys into their decor, hanging fabric wreaths on the door, placing family photos on the mantle, and giving each guest a napkin hand-embroidered by Ali’s Mom (yes, all 100!!). Ali herself pitched in with the paper goods — all self-designed, and printed by Mirabel Press. The Frogtown Winery was truly transformed into a home away from home, from the looks of it. The mini cake came courtesy of a dear friend, while the pie bar was baked by Razzle Dazzle Bakery. Guests took home mini jars of jam (made from wine — how appropriate!) from Emily G’s Jam of Love. And the lovely photographs that recorded this most special day? That was all Jill Thomas.

Ali (a photographer herself), Matt, and their families and friends really put together something special for their big day. A few of the most darling details? The vintage quilts, collected by a friend, for guest seating at the ceremony; the groom’s custom cufflinks from Beads in the Belfry; Ali’s oh-so-chic shade of coral red lipstick and Matt’s Thomas Pink tie that somehow matches it perfectly; and Ali’s birdcage veil from Fascinating Creations. Dear friends designed + coordinated the celebration, put together the flowers, and took care of hair and makeup (Dawn Gahan, Courtney Garvin, and Laura Goddard, respectively), but the photographs were left up to a true professional: Jill Thomas. Check back soon for more from the reception!

Bonus! Check out Ali’s posts here + here for a few more behind-the-scenes details!

Just in case the bride ever looks at these comments:

I’m bought the same shoes for my wedding in August! Were they comfortable?

  5. avatar ali reply

Hi Krystina! Well… I had a little bit of trouble with these shoes, simply because I’m only 5 feet tall and the shoes added another 3 1/2 inches! I’m just not really used to being up that high, nor were my ankles! ;) So, when it was time for dancing, I switched to a lower 2 1/2 inch heel that still worked with my dress and allowed me to dance freely, without worry (or stumbling)! Also, they weren’t the best shoes for walking in a vineyard – they sank about an inch into the ground! Whoops. Here’s the proof: http://aliharperphotography.com/blog/2010/05/27/very-loved/
But as you can see, they were very loved!

Sponsor Love

by in Main, Sponsor Love on

A few more lovelies to send you off into the weekend!

Farm girls, I’ve got your photographer! Erica Velasco admits in her bio that vintage and rustic weddings are her very favorites to shoot, and it shows in her images. Erica is conveniently local to both Phoenix and McAllen, Texas but happy to travel the world! Check out more of her work on her site and her blog, including more photos from the dreamy shoot above.

Our next sponsor, Brenda, is amassing a small village of helpful wedding businesses! There’s her blog, where she hosts giveaways (like this one for a PreOwned Wedding Dresses gift card, which closes on Tuesday!), her Sweet Treats Directory, which helps you find a talented baker, and her Etsy store, where she sells darling cake and cupcake toppers and garlands – all handmade by Brenda herself. It takes a village, I guess!

You may recognize our last sponsor, Origin Crafts, since they’ve been popping up in our Get the Look series (here, most recently!). With good reason, too — their buying team is all over trends, which means their store is almost guaranteed to have the perfect decor or accent item to complete your reception. Some of our favorites? This chalkboard, these apothecary jars, this hanging votive, and this mercury glass votive lookalike. See their whole stock here!

We’re always looking for fabulous new vendors to add to our Resource Directory, so if you’re a wedding vendor interested in that section or any other in our magazine or site, just email Katharine!
