Inevitably, the second question I ask after I hear a friend is engaged is, “Can I see your ring??” (The first question, of course, is always, “How did it happen?”) As a wedding aficionado (and someone who’s admittedly a bit nosy curious), it’s always fascinating to me to see how well the ring matches up with my reading of the soon-to-be-bride’s style. Is it as classic as she is? As colorful and fun? Since your engagement ring is something you’ll likely wear everyday for the rest of their life, it’s wonderful when you feel like it’s a great representation of your style — and something you absolutely love!

Round cut engagement ring: This is the most popular and versatile diamond cut by far, chosen for superior sparkle. Those who choose a round cut often have a classic, timeless, and traditional style.
Cushion cut engagement ring: The cushion is the second most popular cut today, so called because of its pillowy shape. The cushion style is soft and romantic, a blend of classic and contemporary.
Princess cut engagement ring: The princess cut is also cut for maximum sparkle, but it has a square shape. The princess cut is modern, bold, youthful, and edgy.
Emerald cut engagement ring: The emerald cut is a vintage diamond shape, and creates a “hall of mirrors” effect with its sparkle. It is elegant, glamorous, and head-turning — the shape that Beyoncé and Angelina Jolie chose!
Asscher cut engagement ring: The Asscher is another vintage diamond shape, first popularized in the Art Deco period. It is geometric, with an “X” pattern when viewed top down. The Asscher is perfect for those with a style that leans toward vintage and/or high fashion!
Oval cut engagement ring: The oval cut has a similar brilliance to the round cut, but with an elongated shape (and is unsurprisingly prized for elongating the finger!). The oval style is a more modern approach to the round for those who adore sparkle and brilliance.
Marquise cut engagement ring: The Marquise is a very old diamond shape – it was created for King Louis XIV. Its unique “smile” shape can make it look larger than it is, so it’s perfect for those who love dramatic looks, eye-catching and unconventional shapes, and all things vintage.
Radiant cut engagement ring: The radiant cut is a rectangular shape with a modern faceting pattern that gives lots of sparkle. It’s perfect for gals who love something different, and are looking for a blend of classic and contemporary styling.
Pear cut engagement ring: Last but certainly not least, the pear (or teardrop) cut is a hybrid of the oval and marquise cuts. It is worn with the pointed end facing the finger. The pear style is offbeat and glamorous, a great fit for gals who not only don’t mind but would love to stand out from the crowd!
