Google+ Blooming Belles: Bouquets Inspired by Southern Heroines - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

We’ve been having more fun than a pup with two tails soaking up all of your sweet comments on instagram and the blog about our newest issue! Shh – don’t tell V7, but we SW gals all have our own favorite spreads just like y’all! And word around the hen house is that the Blooming Belles feature is a universal favorite. If you haven’t picked up a copy of the magazine yet to see the quotes we paired with each bouquet, well, get on it! In the meantime, please enjoy these magnificent floral creations by Holly Chapple, inspired by some of our most beloved Southern heroines.

Big thanks to Katie Stoops for these lovely photos, and Old Luckett’s Store for many of these props!

First up is Allie from The Notebook. For her ladylike, sea-inspired bouquet, Holly chose white peony, white and blue scabiosa, Queen Anne’s lace, blue tweedia, and snow on the mountain. The 4″ wide ribbon is from Silk & Willow.

For Skeeter, from The Help, we wanted a simple bouquet that wasn’t too fussy. Holly went with lots of neutral texture for this one, including blush astilbe, combo roses, white dahlias, white patience garden roses, gunnii eucalyptus, and pink berries.

Of course, nothing would do for Ms Scarlett O’Hara except for the most dramatic and moody blooms, like dark purple double hellebores, pink kangaroo paws, allspice flowers, purple sweet peas, purple dianthus, purple scabiosa, purple tulips, and magnolia leaves.

Forrest Gump’s Jenny is the ultimate flower child, so for her bouquet, we chose yellow peonies, chamomile, poppies, peach ranunculus, and orange asclepias.

Our Daisy Buchanan bouquet shimmered and shined like a 20’s flapper. For blooms, Holly chose open cut white calla lilies, lavender and white lilac, iris, blush ranunculus, lavender sweet peas, and white clematis. The rhinestone belt we used as a bouquet wrap is from Untamed Petals.

My personal favorite belle, Scout, inspired a bouquet of white azalea, peach Juliet cabbage roses, Virginia blue bells, Queen Anne’s lace, blue thistle, scabiosa pods, carmel antique roses, mock orange, and honeysuckle. Her chambray bow was sewn by Nicole!

Last but certainly not least is Shelby’s blush and bashful bouquet. Holly arranged a fistful of – what else? – blush peonies, Constance cabbage roses, and bridal pink piano cabbage roses. A tulle skirt and monogrammed handkerchief from Bumblee Linens finished it off!

I LOVE this feature so much! Holly is so incredibly talented and spot-on with these bouquets for each Southern lady!! The blooms are simply gorgeous, and as a bookworm, I adore how perfectly the bouquets match up with some of my favorite fictional belles.
