Hola, ladies and gents! Did you have a happy weekend celebrating Cinco de Mayo? In case you’re not quite ready to put down your maracas or take off your sombrero, we’ve got a fun shoot from Peacock Photography to ease the transition! Cat pulled together this inspiration for San Antonio’s Fiesta celebration, an 11-day city-wide bash in honor of Texas’s independence.

That paper flower boutonniere is one of my favorite details from this shoot! Such a good idea.

Muchas gracias to Cat for sending this shoot our way!

This weekend is going to be packed with fun, y’all! Is anyone lucky enough to be going to the Kentucky Derby? (If you are, send us some photos!) I’m not going, but I will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo by eating lots of chips and guac — my favorite!

The Kentucky Derby is this weekend! We think the vintage trophy cups, bouquet of roses and mint juleps are the perfect inspiration for a wedding!

We love Asheville, Western North Carolina’s largest city, for it’s great restaurants and beautiful scenery. This Southern Hospitality Tote is full of Asheville’s best!

The votes are in! Y’all pulled hard for Justine, Alexandra and Lisa’s Dream Southern Wedding Pinterest boards. In the end, Lisa won out with her peach-inspired pins.

Our dear friend, Katie from Marriage Confessions is back this week to tell us all about making your marriage a priority. Her wise words are just what we needed to hear.

We’re continuing the Kentucky Derby inspiration with a round-up of lovely red rose images.

Of course, fashion is never far behind when we’re talking about inspiration! We love the derby finery that the belles in this shoot from Annie Edmonds donned.

Whew! April just flew by! Emily, Marissa and I rounded up our favorite details from April’s real weddings. Take a look here.

This week’s featured Real Weddings Gallery is Caroline + Tyler! Their pink and green Georgia wedding is full of lush details.

Real Weddings make us smile

This week is full of celebrations! With Cinco de Mayo on Saturday, we couldn’t resist sharing Gabriella + Jonathan’s colorful and vibrant wedding. See it here.

Have a splendid weekend friends! What are your plans?

I know this probably sounds strange, but I have thought extensively about the morning of my wedding. As in, enough to write three separate blog posts about it. As in, my friends and family are probably sick of hearing me discuss it. Why, you ask? Good question.

I am a firm believer that the morning of your wedding sets the tone for the way the rest of the day unfolds. Are you rushing around like a chicken with your head cut off, snapping instructions at your ‘maids while frantically trying to organize escort cards and simultaneously write a loving pre-ceremony note to your fiance? Yikes, just typing that sentence gives me the hives.

How about this instead: You wake up refreshed after a good night’s sleep. You pull on something lovely and comfortable, and turn on a pre-made playlist that makes you feel calm, happy, and excited. You eat a good breakfast. You actually chat and laugh with your friends as you get your hair and makeup prettified, because you know that every “to do” has been done (and if they haven’t been crossed off at this point, they’ve been nixed entirely!).

This lovely dream of a morning is possible friends; it just takes some advance planning. Today, let’s start with what you’ll be wearing. A small detail? Yes, but one that can really put you in the right frame of mind. And we can’t think of anything more lovely to do that than a special treat from Castelbel & Trumpet, the new line from Plum Pretty Sugar.

Yes, you could wear some comfy sweats the morning of your wedding, and it’s totally fine if you go that route! But we happen to adore the beautiful prints and colors of Plum Pretty Sugar robes, and love how they look in photographs. Also, I love the idea of buying something special for the morning of your wedding, and then being reminded of that beautiful day every time you put it on for years to come.

We’re particularly enamored with Plum Pretty Sugar’s new collection, Castelbel & Trumpet. These lovely pieces were a year in the making, and were created specifically to highlight a woman’s features. With such thoughtful attention to detail, these are truly heirloom designs! You can see all of them right here.

Tell me, ladies: How are you preparing for a joyous, calm wedding morning? Or if you’re already married, what made a difference on the morning of your wedding? Comment and let me know!

I am not sure you can have a perfectly calm wedding morning! I look forward to spending that morning with my closest girl friends, having a lovely morning breakfast and spending the morning laughing and praying with one another. Lord knows you can’t get any calmer than enjoying memories and laughs with your closest friends!
