Monthly Archives: February 2011

Update: Both the Advertising Director and Junior Creative Director positions have been filled. We will be announcing our new hires in the next few months. A big thank you to all who applied!

Happy February, ladies and gents! Since it’s the beginning of a new month, we thought we’d re-post our two open positions for any ladies who might not have seen them the first time around. We also wanted to let you know that we will begin interviewing finalists as early as next week. We’ll still be accepting applications until March 1, but a tip between you and me? Send your stuff in sooner rather than later! :)

ADVERTISING DIRECTOR
The cornerstone of Southern Weddings Magazine is its close-knit family of sponsors who support our online blog and annual print publication. As the Advertising Directer, you will be solely responsible for managing SW’s online and print advertising accounts. In addition to maintaining relationships with existing sponsors, you will be in charge of targeting new, brand-appropriate vendors who will simultaneously enhance the company and serve as valuable resources for our readers. Applicants must be comfortable making cold calls and sending soliciting emails in their search for new sponsors, and be prepared to report to CEO with weekly updates on their progress. The Ad Director will also field inquiries from prospective and current advertisers, manage client contracts, oversee contract deadlines and ad renewals, and serve as the point person for uploading and organizing ad artwork. Applicants must possess exceptionally strong communication skills, be motivated self-starters, and proactive in their search for new sponsors. A warm, personable demeanor is absolutely essential.

JUNIOR ART DIRECTOR/ASSISTANT COPYWRITER
Readers flock to Southern Weddings as much for our one-of-a-kind wedding inspiration as our fun, personal brand. The Junior Art Director/Assistant Copywriter will assume a primary voice on the SW daily blog and in our annual magazine as the author of regular posts and special features. In addition to producing original content, the Junior Art Director will work closely with Art Director Emily Ayer in brainstorming innovative features, searching out the most wonderful weddings to feature, planning photo shoots and spearheading other creative projects. We are excited to introduce a new face and personality to the Southern Weddings community, and are looking for someone who will blend seamlessly with our team while enhancing our online and print presence with her own unique style. This position is expected to begin sometime in August.

Speaking from experience, I know how exciting this announcement will be to some of you. I was there just a year and a half ago. We are so thrilled to provide these opportunities and to meet y’all, so if either of these positions sounds like something you’d be interested in, please click on this link to see a much more detailed qualification list for and description of each position, as well as a rundown of the logistics, salaries, and application procedures. Please read carefully!

Happy Friday, indeed!

I’m excited for those who can apply and just a little envious because I can’t! I graduate in December so here’s to hoping 2011 is an even better year than last and maybe you will expand again! ;)

Hello lovelies, and happy Sunday to you! I have a quick question: I am DEFINITELY, UNDENIABLY, & EXTREMELY interested in the junior art director/assistant copywriter position. I am overly looking forward to about getting everything together for the application and will most likely drive my loved ones bananas over the next month with my zeal for it…but I wanted to ask a deeply unrealistic question before I get started: Is the position possible to do from ‘home’, and travel into the office once a month? I live in beautiful Alabama,a short six hours away (of which I would be more than willing to travel once a month, or more if absolutely necessary) and making the move to North Carolina (though, I am ALWAYS up for adventure, and have a love for that neck of the woods), would be a relatively difficult feat, given my position in life. I know its far fetched, but would that a possibility whatsoever? Say, if I was the best person for the job?

    hypothetically speaking.

    Gracias and many a blessing!

    love always wins,
    Sherei
