Winner! :: MM Ink Calligraphy

by in Main on

Over the long Thanksgiving weekend, the girls of Southern Weddings have been thinking about all of the people we are so grateful for. We are so lucky to have an extensive list of amazing people that deserve a billion thank yous. One of these people is calligrapher extraordinaire Moya. Her contributions to V2 AND V3 were to-die-for gorgeous and we are so happy to announce today’s MM Ink winner!

We asked readers to go to the recently revamped MM Ink website and pick out their favorite calligraphy style for the chance to win 75 hand-lettered escort or place cards! We randomly selected Katy as our winner. Her favorite calligraphy style was the Belle and we couldn’t agree more with her choice (though you really can’t go wrong with any of Moya’s calligraphy styles). Katy, please email whitney {at} iloveswmag {dot} com to claim your prize!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Moya and to all of our fabulous readers! Come back soon for another fantastic giveaway.

Paper Pick :: Dapper Paper

by in Personal on

Ever since things like the telephone and internet and email and Skype it’s been pretty easy to collaborate with vendors from around the world no matter where you live. We love this! It gives brides and grooms so many more options that might not be available to them in their tiny, or super traditional, hometown. But there’s still a thrill (at least for wedding nerds like me!) when you find someone awesome in your own backyard.

Such is the case with Dapper Paper and Southern Weddings! Chris and Elizabeth are practically our neighbors — they’re based in Raleigh — and though we’ve never met, we ARE collaborating on an awesome project that I can’t wait to share soon! In the meantime, I thought they’d make a perfect choice for my inaugural “paper pick.” All of the images in this post are their custom designs.

Chris and Elizabeth love design, food, music, and pajamas…. and oh yes, they specialize in designing unique wedding stationery! From invites to posters, they can handle it all and handle it well. But, as they say, they’re not tied down to weddings; they design for any occasion. They also LOVE special projects, which is how we got hooked up with them (see above!). Best of all, ALL of their designs are hand-drawn and professionally typeset by the husband-and-wife team. Kudos, you two!

Besides their stellar design sense, what I love most about Dapper Paper is their ability to think outside the box and their cheeky sense of humor. They just seem like cool cats you’d love to hang out with, you know?

You can visit Dapper Paper on their blog, at their Etsy shop, or through their Twitter. Spiffy!

Just so we’re all on the same page, all of my Paper Picks and Handmade Finds are simply things I’ve found and loved. These posts are NOT paid advertising, they’re just a way for me to share my faves with you!

For those of y’all that follow me on Twitter or Tumblr or Facebook or my Personal Blog, you know I’ve been all over the place this month!  The Making Things Happen Tour – (preceded by travel to Salt Lake City, Palm Beach, New York, St. Lucia, Atlanta, Barbados, Trinidad, and Miami) took my good friends Emily Ley, Gina Zeidler and I from Raleigh to Houston to Phoenix to San Francisco to Los Angeles to Maui and back again. I met so many wonderful wedding pros along the way!  A little about our journey…
