This weeks inspiration is all about style and, more importantly, comfort! For your big day, set up a seating area for guests to lounge in during cocktail hour and to rest their dancing-feet late into the night! Take a look at some gorgeous designs from the likes of Colin Cowie and Mindy Weiss for a little lounge inspiration!

First scene – a girlie but sophisticated setting of fuchsia velvet pillows, mirrored cocktail tables and gorgeous chandeliers by Mindy Weiss via Instyle Weddings. Next, dress up a minimalist seating area with rose-adorned pillows {design by Mindy Weiss via Instyle Weddings}. Second row right, a chic black and white space gets a touch of luscious red {design by Mindy Weiss via Instyle Weddings}. Second row left, a glamorous setting of silk and tassels designed by Scott Corridan via Instyle Weddings. Have a look at Fete NY’s contemporary design combining a rich palette with a streamline setting {third row via Fete NY}. Outdoor wedding? Try an open air colonial lounge – so global chic {fourth row via Fete NY}. Throwing a more casual outdoor celebration? Simple lounge chairs get some flair when you add a fire pit! {via Colin Cowie}. And last, a wicker setting complete with Persian rugs adds elegant comfort at a garden wedding {via Colin Cowie}.

Until next Wednesday! Xoxo, Wanwisa

I’m so excited to announce our latest contest!  We’ve teamed up with Adorn Brides as part of their “Borrow Your Baubles” Blog Week to give one lucky reader the chance to “borrow” a stunning piece of jewelry for their wedding day! Through Adorn Brides you can rent gorgeous pieces of fine jewelry for your wedding or other special events, allowing you to look extravagant while sticking to your budget. Why should celebrities have all the fun?  Their website features earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and coordinating sets made of genuine diamonds and pearls that will add some sparkle to your big day!  Lara, Kirstin, and Laura all had the chance to meet the lovely VP of Adorn Brides, Laura Marcusse, at Engage08, and are thrilled to be able feature her line.

Although it’s nearly impossible to pick favorites with so many amazing pieces, we decided to give it a try. We love the Denton Bridal Jewelry Set (these pieces are so delicate and extravagant!), Hartley Earrings (for those who love classic and romantic jewelry!), Galliton Pendant (if you simply can’t decide between yellow and white gold!), Silverwin Diamond Bracelet (perfect for a vintage affair), and the gorgeous Abingdon Jewelry Set (to add some serious sparkle). Be sure to check out the details of our top picks and select your favorites on their website.

Adorn Brides has been featured on The View, CBS’s The Early Show, and in The New York Times, Modern Bride (as #1 out of the 50 best web sites to help plan your wedding), Inside Weddings Magazine, Wedding Style Magazine, In Style Weddings, and in my favorite magazine (ok, I’m biased), Southern Weddings! Check out Adorn Brides’ jewelry as it appears in our premier issue below.

Win: The winner will receive a $150 gift card to AdornBrides.com, where you can shop to your heart’s content!  Keep in mind that a handful of the pieces available for rent are $150 or less, which means you could rent for free if you win. To keep anyone from feeling left out, all of our readers (that’s right, each and every one!) can get 10% off rentals for any 2009 weddings reserved by June 09. Simply enter the promotion code SOUTHERNWED09 here to receive your discount!  As an added bonus, you can also enter to win a diamond necklace worth nearly $10,000 as well as free hair and makeup HERE. To top it all off, Adorn Brides will give everyone who signs up and opts-in a $50 gift certificate code to be used toward a jewelry rental. We have so many opportunities to win this week!

To Enter: We want to know what piece would be the perfect match for your wedding attire. Email us a picture of your dress with a description of the piece you would love to wear, and get ready to sparkle!

This contest ends Wednesday, March 11 at midnight. Good Luck, everyone!

All of the jewlery is so beautiful! I especially adore their Danielson Earrings {cluster diamond}. They are simple, classic, and add just enough sparkle. It also doesn’t hurt that their name has my significant other’s name in it {Daniel}, how fun. What a generous giveaway!

I am enamored with the Hartley Earrings (Pearl Drop Earrings) and the Coleman Pendant. I had never thought of renting jewelry before. What a fantastic idea!

First of all, I love Brenda’s hot red dress by {Luly Yang}!  We love when brides dare to be different.  Second, we love that Brenda + Aaron combined both of their cultures to create a special day that is sure to be remembered by all their loved ones.  This fantastic wedding took place at {Bellingham Cruise Terminal} with the catering by {Ciao Thyme}.  Check out the red dahlia bouquet by {A New Leaf}.  Want to know more about Brenda’s accessories? Brenda purchased the yellow scarf, earrings and shoes from {Nordstroms} where she found the earrings and the scarf for $20 each. The shoes were a bit more but the belt was purchased for $5 at {Express}.  What a shopper! These amazing images were captured by {Michele M. Waite Photography}.  Check out all the shots on Michele’s {Blog}

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story: Aaron and I met while I was a part of an AmeriCorp program in Washington D.C. Aaron and his best friend Mark had just graduated from William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and I had just dropped out of college. Aaron went straight to work for an IT company, and Mark joined the same AmeriCorp program I was in. Mark as a matter of fact ended up in my team and he was the one that introduced us. Since Mark was from the D.C./Virginia area, he usually invited us to great parties. At first Aaron and I were just friends, but over time we began to fall for each other. A year later we were dating, and five years later we were married. Aaron was a great friend from the start, and I believe that is what’s made our relationship last. This coming June, Aaron and I will be celebrating seven years of being in each others lives. He truly is my best friend.
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? We really just wanted to incorporate both of our cultures. Aaron is Jewish American and I am a Mexican-American who practices Buddhism. We went for simplicity and originality. We wrote out our entire ceremony and picked every single item together. We wanted our personalities as a couple to shine through.
Favorite design element of your big day: The Ferry Terminal. It was just so industrial looking and simple.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: Finding the right dress was not as easy as I thought it would be. I always knew I did not want to get married in a white dress and that decision alone made my process ten times harder.
Describe your wedding flowers: We picked beautiful fall dahlias because of their amazing color and simplicity.
Describe your wedding cake: We did not have a cake. We had various miniature desserts such as mini apple pies, cheesecakes, chocolate macaroons, raspberry linzer cookies and chocolate chip cookies.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: When Aaron and I returned to hour hotel room we found ceramic plates filled with delicious food awaiting us. Sometime during the course of the evening Jessica and Mateo (our caters) had sent one of their staff members to our hotel with a fantastic assortment of all the yummy food at the wedding. This gesture at the end of the night was above and beyond what we expected. Jessica and Mateo really went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. They truly made us feel like family. They made our vision a reality times ten!
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Happiness, excitement and pure joy.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Have fun. Don’t be afraid to break out of the box. Everyone will always have an opinion about what your wedding should be like, but remember that the wedding should represent who you guys are as a couple. Don’t feel pressured to go with the norm.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? Aaron and I are in the beginning stages of planning an eight week trip/ honeymoon to Europe. Aaron and I have never been to Europe, and it’s an experience we always talked about sharing together. Secondly, we’d really love to live in a Latin American country for at least a year before we have children.
Favorite inspirational blogs or sites: {Michele M. Waite Photo Blog}.  This blog was really the source of our inspired. Michele was incredible and super accommodating to our no traditional vision. She really is one of the most gifted wedding photographers out there. Her passion comes through with each individual wedding.

Congratulations to Brenda + Aaron. We wish you the best on the Europe trip!
